The weak anchoring nematic liquid crystal (NLC) cell is investigated with regard to energy. Because the Gibbs free energy of liquid crystal system used in theory does not include temperature and entropy, and because the equations and boundary conditions for δG=0 are also the mechanical equilibrium conditions of the continuum, the Gibbs free energy G is equivalent to the energy E of the liquid crystal continuum. There are multiple solutions which satisfy these equations and boundary conditions, each solution corresponding to a certain energy value. We call these discrete energy values and energy levels. Adopting a simple liquid crystal cell model, the energy levels are calculated in detail by means of analytical and numerical methods. The results show that there are three energy levels (or more in certain cases). The values and sequence of the energy levels are related to the external field and anchoring parameters. The relationships between the energy level structure and the bistable. Fréedericksz transition are disussed, together with their influence on the response time. The physical condition for the existence of more than three energy levels is also given.  相似文献

Summary A study of different extraction techniques for the determination of a selected group of organochlorine compounds in surface waters is presented. Comparison of liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) with solid-phase extraction (SPE) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) with fibers of different polarity shows that SPME with a recently commercialised fiber of polydimethylsiloxane divinylbenzene allows these compounds to be determined in surface waters with good extraction efficiencies. Extraction time, effect of temperature, ionic strength and pH were optimised, allowing quantification in agricultural effluents in the range 1.0–60 ng·L−1.  相似文献

 A portable fibre optic instrument for oxygen sensing based on luminescence lifetime is presented. The instrument is based on measurement of the quenching by oxygen of the room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) emitted by aluminium tris(8-hydroxy-7-iodo-5-quinolinesulfonic acid) chelate incorporated in an inorganic matrix by sol–gel technology. The comparatively long RTP lifetime of this sensing material (450 μs) and the large singlet–triplet splitting (λexc 390 nm, λem 590 nm) allow the use of simple opto-electronic circuits and low-cost processing electronics. Standard electronic components have been applied in development of the low-cost lifetime-measurement instrumentation presented here. Two optical sensor configurations, “flow-through cell” and “probe”, have been designed and evaluated for the determination of very low levels of oxygen, in gaseous argon streams and in waters. The basic technology, design parameters and performance characteristics of the optical sensors are discussed. Applications to determination of dissolved oxygen in river, tap and sewage waters are described. The advantages of luminescence lifetime measurements over conventional RTP intensity measurements for oxygen sensing are discussed. Received April 1, 1999. Revision November 4, 1999.  相似文献

Flax-PP based thermally bonded roving (TBR) has a unique structure where the flax fibres remain twist-free and fully aligned along the roving axis. The present study describes an experimental investigation on the low velocity impact (LVI) behaviour of the TBR based woven fabric composites and compares the same with plain woven glass fabric reinforced PP composites (GRPC). Two different fabric architectures namely plain woven (PW) and unidirectional (UD) are fabricated using flax/PP based TBR. These TBR based woven fabrics and the glass fabric/PP sheets are consolidated in a compression moulding machine and the resultant composite-laminates are tested for their LVI behaviour. The impact test results revealed that the glass/PP composites absorb more energy and exhibit a higher peak load than both TBR based PW and UD fabric composites. However, the specific load and energy of all flax/PP composites are higher than the glass/PP composite. The damage tolerance of all composite laminates are evaluated by comparing their flexural strength before and after the impact. It is observed that the proportionate loss in flexural strength due to impact thrust is larger in case of glass/PP composites than all flax-PP composites.  相似文献

碳纤维具有高比强度、高比模量、导电、耐热、自润滑等优异的综合性能,在纤维增强复合材料中得到了广泛的应用.可制备碳纤维的前驱体有人造丝、沥青、聚丙烯腈纤维、木质素、聚乙烯纤维、聚苯并噻唑(PBO)纤维等.但大多数高强碳纤维目前仍然是由聚丙烯腈纤维制备的,同时,许多工作都集中在更进一步提高碳纤维的机械性能.特别是在我国, 碳纤维质量与某些发达国家相比,还有较大的差距,急需解决的问题就是如何尽快研制出高力学性能的碳纤维.采用氨基硅氧烷、脂肪族羧酸[1]、CuCl[2]、KMnO 4[3]、CoCl2[4]等有机或无机化学试剂对聚丙烯腈原丝进行化学处理, 以改进最终碳纤维的结构与性能是一种有效的方法.国内在这方面的研究还很少.文献[1 ~4]中所采用的方法都是利用商业聚丙烯腈原丝在碳化前进行洗油、浸渍、洗涤烘干处理 ,增加了碳纤维制备的工序,同时,原丝损伤较大,在连续生产中难以适用.我们在原丝连续制备的同时采用NiSO4溶液浸渍处理聚丙烯腈纤维,本文主要研究了采用NiSO4浸渍改性后聚丙烯腈原丝及其碳纤维的结构与性能.研究表明,采用NiSO4在线浸渍改性聚丙烯腈原丝,生产工艺简单,且能有效地改进最终碳纤维的结构与性能.  相似文献

Integrally skinned asymmetric poly(vinylidene fluoride) hollow fibre membranes were prepared and characterized. The effects of phase inversion methods (dry-wet or wet) and spinning conditions, such as the type of solvent (NMP, DMAc), the concentration of polymer in dope solution, temperature of the external coagulation bath and the composition of the inner coagulant on the morphology and on the formation of a dense skin layer were investigated. The structure of the membranes was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and the gas permeation properties with six different gases (He, H2, N2, O2, CH4 and CO2) were measured at 25 °C to confirm the integrity of the selective skin layer. Under the proper conditions highly selective and permeable PVDF hollow fibre membranes were thus obtained by dry-wet spinning of a 30 wt.% PVDF solution in DMAc, using hot water (50 °C) as the external coagulant and a bore fluid of pure water as the internal coagulant. The best membrane had a selective outer skin with an effective thickness of approximately 0.2 μm. The ideal selectivity of the hollow fibres approached or even exceeded the intrinsic ideal selectivity of a dense PVDF film, for instance the selectivity for He over N2 was 86.2 for the hollow fibre, whereas it was 83.5 for a dense PVDF reference film. DSC and FT-IR/ATR analysis indicated a higher fraction of the β-crystal phase in the selective skin and a high overall crystallinity than in the melt-processed film. The latter explains the relatively high selectivity and low permeability of the membranes. Intrinsic polymer properties make the membranes also suitable for vapour transport than for gas separation.  相似文献

A three-phase liquid-phase microextraction (LPME) method using porous polypropylene hollow fibre membrane with a sealed end was developed for the extraction of mirtazapine (MRT) and its two major metabolites, 8-hydroxymirtazapine (8-OHM) and demethylmirtazapine (DMR), from human plasma. The analytes were extracted from 1.0 mL of plasma, previously diluted and alkalinized with 3.0 mL 0.5 mol L−1 pH 8 phosphate buffer solution and supplemented with 15% sodium chloride (NaCl), using n-hexyl ether as organic solvent and 0.01 moL L−1 acetic acid solution as the acceptor phase. Haloperidol was used as internal standard. The chromatographic analyses were carried out on a chiral column, using acetonitrile-methanol-ethanol (98:1:1, v/v/v) plus 0.2% diethylamine as mobile phase, at a flow rate of 1.0 mL min−1. Multi-reaction monitoring (MRM) detection was performed by mass spectrometry (MS-MS) using a triple-stage quadrupole and electrospray ionization interface operating in the positive ion mode. The mean recoveries were in 18.3-45.5% range with linear responses over the 1.25-125 ng mL−1 concentration range for all enantiomers evaluated. The quantification limit (LOQ) was 1.25 ng mL−1. Within-day and between-day assay precision and accuracy (2.5, 50 and 100 ng mL−1) showed relative standard deviation and the relative error lower than 11.9% for all enantiomers evaluated. Finally, the method was successfully used for the determination of mirtazapine and its metabolite enantiomers in plasma samples obtained after single drug administration of mirtazapine to a healthy volunteer.  相似文献
