Electrons in graphene have fourfold spin and valley degeneracies owing to the unique bipartite honeycomb lattice and an extremely weak spin-orbit coupling, which can support a series of broken symmetry states. Atomic-scale defects in graphene are expected to lift these degenerate degrees of freedom at the nanoscale, and hence, lead to rich quantum states, highlighting promising directions for spintronics and valleytronics. In this article, we mainly review the recent scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) advances on the spin and/or valley polarized states induced by an individual atomic-scale defect in graphene, including a single-carbon vacancy, a nitrogen-atom dopant, and a hydrogen-atom chemisorption. A level set formulation in a generalized curvilinear coordinate is developed to simulate the free surface waves generated by moving bodies or the sloshing of fluid in a container. The Reynolds‐averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations are modified to account for variable density and viscosity in two‐phase (i.e. water–air) fluid flow systems. A local level set method is used to update the level set function and a least square technique adopted to re‐initialize it at each time step. To assess the developed algorithm and its versatility, a selection of different fluid–structure interaction problems are examined, i.e. an oscillating flow in a two‐dimensional square tank, a breaking dam involving different density fluids, sloshing in a two‐dimensional rectangular tank and a Wigley ship hull travelling in calm water. At low temperatures the configurational phase space of a macroscopic complex system (e.g., a spin-glass) of N - 10^23 interacting particles may split into an exponential number Ωs - exp(const × N) of ergodic sub-spaces (thermodynamic states). It is usually assumed that the equilibrium collective behavior of such a system is determined by its ground thermodynamic states of the minimal free-energy density, and that the equilibrium free energies follow the distribution of exponentied decay. But actually for some complex systems, the equilibrium free-energy values may follow a Gaussian distribution within an intermediate temperature range, and consequently their equilibrium properties are contributed by excited thermodynamic states. Based on this analysis, the re-weighting parameter y in the cavity approach of spin-glasses is easily understood. Depending on the free-energy distribution, the optimal y can either be equal to or be strictly less than the inverse temperature β. 相似文献

In this paper we obtain approximate solutions to the linearized kinetic equations for the bogolon spin density and total density for the case of long-wavelength disturbances after long times when a fluctuating superfluid velocity is present.
