Axisymmetric viscous fluid flows past spheroids are considered. The time-independent complete Navier-Stokes equations written in a spherical coordinate system are used for describing the flow. The problem is solved by the stabilization method on the basis of a variable direction scheme. The input coordinate system is transformed in order to construct a regular computational grid. As a result of the numerical investigation, the stream patterns of flow past elongated and oblate spheroids are obtained for various values of the determining parameters. Numerical values of the dimensions of the circulation zone and the drag coefficient are given for various values of the spheroid semi-axis ratio in the domain of moderate Reynolds numbers. 相似文献

The paper deals with propagation of plane wave fronts in a solid with a non-linear relation between stress and deformation.
The objective is to calculate the distance that a wave front covers before it loses continuity. The formulae derived for a
general quasi-linear system of two equations are applied to the propagation of plane compression waves in dry and partially
saturated granular bodies. In the case of a saturated body with gas bubbles, the influence of gas and capillary pressure on
the stiffness of the body is taken into account. Numerical calculations relevant to soil mechanics are presented. For the
numerical calculations a constitutive equation of the hypoplasticity theory for granular materials has been used.

The flow field downstream of a bluff body in a typical open channel flow was explored by two-dimensional particle image velocimetry. Measurements are obtained in horizontal planes at the near-bed, mid-depth and near-surface locations downstream of the body up to a streamwise distance of 10D, where D is the width of the body. The dimensionless streamwise defect velocity profile of the wake flow matches well with the data of a previous investigation and does not reflect any dependency on the distance from the bed. However, the nature of development of the recirculation region is found to be different at the three vertical locations. The time-averaged streamline pattern indicates the existence of a unique nodal pattern close to the bed. The variation of the half-width is also found to be affected by the presence of the bed and the free surface. The bed friction arrests the transverse growth of the shear layer, and the free-surface helps to redistribute the turbulent kinetic energy in the streamwise and transverse directions. Swirling strength analysis is carried out to compare the behavior and statistics of the vortex population in the vertical direction. The prevailing magnitude of the swirling strength is found to be different at the three vertical locations. Bed friction assists to dissipate vorticity rapidly, and therefore reduces the probability of appearance of strong vortices close to the bed. 相似文献

The effects of finite‐rate chemistry, such as partial extinctions and re‐ignitions, are investigated in turbulent non‐pre‐mixed reacting flows stabilized in the wake of an axisymmetric bluff‐body burner. A two‐dimensional large‐eddy simulation procedure is employed that uses a partial equilibrium/two‐scalar reactedness mixture fraction probability density function (PDF) combustion sub‐model, which is applied at the sub‐grid scale (SGS) level. An anisotropic sub‐grid eddy–viscosity and two equations for the SGS turbulence kinetic and scalar energies complete the SGS closure model. The scalar covariances required in the joint PDF formulation are obtained from an extended scale‐similarity assumption between the resolved and the sub‐grid fluctuations. Extinction due to strong turbulence/chemistry interactions is recognized with the help of a ‘critical’, locally variable, turbulent Damkohler number criterion, while transient localized extinctions and re‐ignitions are treated with a Lagrangian transport equation for a reactedness progress variable. Comparisons with available experimental data suggested that the formulated approach was capable of identifying the effects of large‐scale vortex structure activity, which were inherent in the reacting wake and dominant in the counterpart isothermal flows that otherwise would have been obscured if a standard time‐averaged procedure had been used. Additionally, the post‐extinction and re‐ignition behaviour and its time‐varying interaction with the large‐scale structure dynamics were more appropriately addressed within the context of the present time‐dependent method. In this paper, nonlinear constitutive equations are deduced strictly according to the constitutive axioms of rational continuum
mechanics. The existing judgments are modified and improved. The results show that the constitutive responses of nonlocal
thermoelastic body are related to the curvature and higher order gradient of its material space, and there exists an antisymmetric
stress whose average value in the domain occupied by thermoelastic body is equal to zero. The expressions of the antisymmetric
stress and the nonlocal residuals are given. The conclusion that the directions of thermal conduction and temperature gradient
are consistent is reached. In addition, the objectivity about the nonlocal residuals and the energy conservation law of nonlocal
field is discussed briefly, and a formula for calculating the nonlocal residuals of energy changing with rigid motion of the
spatial frame of reference is derived.
