本文提出了一种Armijo型的线搜索，并在这种线搜索下讨论了共轭下降法的全局收敛性，且可得方法在每次迭代均产生一个下降搜索方向．     

Asymptotic Correction of More Sturm–Liouville Eigenvalue Estimates

The asymptotic correction technique of Paine, de Hoog and Anderssen can dramatically improve the accuracy of finite difference or finite element eigenvalues at negligible extra cost if closed form expressions are available for the errors in a simpler related problem. This paper gives closed form expressions for the errors in the eigenvalues of certain Sturm–Liouville problems obtained by various methods, thereby increasing the range of problems for which asymptotic correction can achieve maximum efficiency. It also investigates implementation of the method for more general problems.     

Lower-dimensional linear complementarity problem approaches to the solution of a bi-obstacle problem

A globally convergent Broyden-like method for solving a bi-obstacle problem is proposed based on its equivalent lower-dimensional linear complementarity problem. A suitable line search technique is introduced here. The global and superlinear convergence of the method is verified under appropriate assumptions.

Nonparametric estimation and adaptive control in a class of finite Markov decision chains

We consider a class of Markov decision processes withfinite state and action spaces which, essentially, is determined by the following condition: The state space isirreducible under the action of any stationary policy. However, except by this restriction, the transition law iscompletely unknown to the controller. In this context, we find a set of policies under which thefrequency estimators of the transition law are strongly consistent and then, this result is applied to constructadaptive asymptotically discount-optimal policies.Dedicated to Professor Truman O. A system-theoretic framework for a wide class of systems I: Applications to numerical analysis

A system-theoretic framework is proposed, which allows the study of hybrid uncertain systems, which do not satisfy the so-called “semigroup property.” Characterizations of the notion of robust global asymptotic output stability (RGAOS) are given. Based on the provided characterizations, the qualitative behavior of hybrid systems obtained by time-discretization of systems of ordinary differential equations with a globally asymptotically stable equilibrium point, is studied.

Time-marching numerical schemes for the electric field integral equation on a straight thin wire

We derive and analyse four algorithms for computing the current induced on a thin straight wire by a transient electric field. They all involve solving the thin wire electric field integral equations (EFIEs) and consist of a very accurate differential equations solver together with various schemes to approximate the vector potential integral equation. We carry out a rigorous numerical stability analysis of each of these methods. This has not previously been done for solution schemes for the thin wire EFIEs. Each scheme is shown to be stable and convergent provided the radius of the wire is small enough for the thin wire equations to be a valid model.
