The unsteady flow of a viscoelastic fluid with the fractional Maxwell model, induced by a constantly accelerating plate between two side walls perpendicular to the plate, is investigated by means of the integral transforms. Exact solutions for the velocity field are presented under integral and series forms in terms of the derivatives of generalized Mittag–Leffler functions. The corresponding solutions for Maxwell fluids are obtained as limiting cases for β → 1. In the absence of the side walls, all solutions that have been determined reduce to those corresponding to the motion over an infinite plate.   相似文献

An analysis has been carried out to study heat transfer characteristics of an incompressible Newtonian electrically conducting and heat generating/absorbing fluid having temperature-dependent viscosity over a non-isothermal wedge in the presence of thermal radiation. The Rosseland approximation is used to describe the radiative heat flux in the energy equation. The wedge surface is assumed to be permeable so as to allow for possible wall suction or injection. The effects of viscous dissipation, Joule heating, stress work and thermal radiation are included in the model. The governing differential equations are derived and transformed using a non-similarity transformation. The transformed equations are solved numerically by applying a fifth-order Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg scheme with shooting technique. Favorable comparisons with previously published work on various special cases of the problem are obtained. Numerical results for the velocity and temperature profiles for a prescribed magnetic field parameter as well as the development of the local skin-friction coefficient and local Nusselt number with the magnetic field and radiation parameters are presented graphically and in tabulated form to elucidate the influence of the various physical parameters.  相似文献

We study the differential system introduced by M.I. Shliomis to describe the motion of a ferrofluid driven by an external magnetic field. The system is a combination of the Navier-Stokes equations, the magnetization equation and the magnetostatic equations. No regularizing term is added to the magnetization equation. Peristaltic transport in a two-dimensional non-uniform tube filled with Herschel–Bulkley fluid is studied under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynold number. The fluid flow is investigated in the wave frame of reference moving with the velocity of the peristaltic wave. Exact solution for the velocity field, the temperature profile, the stream functions and the pressure gradient are obtained. The physical behavior of τ, n, α and on the pressure rise versus flow rate are discussed through graphs. At the end of the article trapping phenomena for Herschel–Bulkley and also for Newtonian, Bingham and power law (which are the special cases of Herschel–Bulkley fluid) fluid are discussed.  相似文献

We comment on the electrorheological (ER) behavior of copper phthalocyanine (CuPC)-doped mesoporous TiO(2) suspensions. Our Cole-Cole plot not only fits the dielectric spectra of the two CuPC-doped mesoporous TiO(2) templated ER fluids with CuPC/cetyltrimethylammonium (CTAB) molar ratios of 0.10 and 0.15, respectively, but also provides a better explanation of their polarizability by differentiating their ER performance.  相似文献

The separation of arsenic based on in situ chelation with ammonium diethyl dithiophosphate (ADDTP) has been carried out using methanol-modified supercritical CO2. Aliquots of extract were added to an electroanalytical cell and arsenic was determined by square wave cathodic stripping voltammetry (SWCSV) at a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE). Quantitative extractions of As(DDTP)3 were achieved when the experiments were carried out at a pressure of 2500 psi, a temperature of 90 °C, 2.0 mL of methanol, 20.0 min of static extraction and 5.0 min of dynamic extraction in the presence of 18 mg of ADDTP. Analysis of arsenic was made using 150 mg L−1 of Cu(II) in 1 M HCl solution as supporting electrolyte in the presence of ADDTP as ligand. Preconcentration was carried out by deposition at a potential of −0.50 V and the intermetallic compound CuxAsy was reduced at a potential of −0.77 to −0.82 V, depending on ligand concentration. The results showed that the presence of ligand plays an important role, increasing the method's sensitivity and preventing the oxidation of As(III). The calibration graph of the As(DDTP)3 solution was linear from 0.8 to 12.5 μg L−1 of arsenic (LOD 0.5 μg L−1, R = 0.9992, tacc = 60 s). The method was validated using carrot pulp spiked with arsenic solution. This method was applied to the determination of arsenic in samples of carrots, beets and irrigation water. Arsenic in beets was: skin 4.10 ± 0.18 mg kg−1; pulp 3.83 ± 0.19 mg kg−1 and juice 0.71 ± 0.09 mg L−1; arsenic in carrots was: skin 2.15 ± 0.09 mg kg−1; pulp 0.59 ± 0.11 mg kg−1 and juice 0.71 ± 0.03 mg L−1. Arsenic in water were: Chiu-Chiu 0.08 mg L−1, Inacaliri 1.12 mg L−1, and Salado river 0.17 ± 0.07 mg L−1.  相似文献

As a part of our search for environmentally friendly solvents to extract the active components of medicinal plants, two sampling techniques, supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) using CO(2) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) were compared for their efficacy in the analysis of volatiles rhizome components emitted from the medicinal herbs Angelica gigas NAKAI (Korean danggui), Angelica sinensis (Chinese danggui), and Angelica acutiloba (Japanese danggui). A total of 54 compounds released from all of these varieties of Angelica rhizomes were separated and identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The composition of supercritical extracts from these plants was very different from the solid-phase microextraction products. More compounds were detected by SPME-GC-MS (41) than by SFE-GC-MS (17). The results of these analyses suggest that SFE may be useful for detecting the main components, decursinol angelate and decursin in Korean danggui, and butylidene dihydro-phthalide in both Chinese and Japanese danggui, whereas the results for SPME did not. The SFE method required specialized instrumentation, required little time to prepare the sample, and had a small sample size and no organic solvent. In sum, these results suggest that SFE is useful for extracting the volatile main components of danggui cultivars. Its simplicity, low cost and speed may allow SPME to increase the recovery of volatile components in general without disturbing the main components of the plant.  相似文献

Laurdan (2-dimethylamino-6-lauroylnaphthalene) is a hydrophobic fluorescent probe widely used in lipid systems. This probe was shown to be highly sensitive to lipid phases, and this sensitivity related to the probe microenvironment polarity and viscosity. In the present study, Laurdan was incorporated in 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-[phospho-rac-(1-glycerol)] (DPPG), which has a phase transition around 41°C, and DLPC (1,2-dilauroyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine), which is in the fluid phase at all temperatures studied. The temperature dependence of Laurdan fluorescent emission was analyzed via the decomposition into two gaussian bands, a short- and a long-wavelength band, corresponding to a non-relaxed and a water-relaxed excited state, respectively. As expected, Laurdan fluorescence is highly sensitive to DPPG gel–fluid transition. However, it is shown that Laurdan fluorescence, in DLPC, is also dependent on the temperature, though the bilayer phase does not change. This is in contrast to the rather similar fluorescent emission obtained for the analogous hydrophilic probe, Prodan (2-dimethylamino-6-propionylnaphthalene), when free in aqueous solution, over the same range of temperature. Therefore, Laurdan fluorescence seems to be highly dependent on the lipid bilayer packing, even for fluid membranes. This is supported by Laurdan fluorescence anisotropy and spin labels incorporated at different positions in the fluid lipid bilayer of DLPC. The latter were used both as structural probes for bilayer packing, and as Laurdan fluorescence quenchers. The results confirm the high sensitivity of Laurdan fluorescence emission to membrane packing, and indicate a rather shallow position for Laurdan in the membrane.  相似文献
