Students incorporate and use the implicit and explicit parameter time to support their mathematical reasoning and deepen their understandings as they participate in a differential equations class during instruction on solutions to systems of differential equations. Therefore, dynamic reasoning is defined as developing and using conceptualizations about time as a parameter that implicitly or explicitly coordinates with other quantities to understand and solve problems. Students participate in the following types of mathematical activity related to dynamic reasoning: making time an explicit quantity, using the metaphor of time as “unidimensional space”, using time to reason both quantitatively and qualitatively, using three-dimensional visualization of time related functions, fusing context and representation of time related functions, and using the fictive motion metaphor for function. The purpose of this article is to present a characterization of dynamic reasoning and promote more explicit attention to this type of reasoning by teachers in K-16 mathematics in order to improve student understanding in time related areas of mathematics. 相似文献

Equations for a round cylinder weakly reinforced with systems of yarns and subjected to large tensile, inflation, and torsional
deformations are presented. Since the degree of filling is small, the model of uniaxial stress state is assumed. The fibers
are aligned with spirals on cylindrical surfaces and with radii in the transverse and meridional sections of the cylinder.
The equations are obtained in the macroscopically unidimensional statement for the case of cylindrically symmetric strains.
Numerical results are given for twisted hollow rubber cylinders reinforced with polymer yarns in the axial and radial directions.

This article is devoted to the development and application of an Eulerian‐Lagrangian method (ELM) for the solution of the Black‐Scholes partial differential equation for the valuation of European option contracts. This method fully utilizes the transient behavior of the governing equations and generates very accurate option's fair values and their derivatives also known as option Greeks, even if coarse spatial grids and large time steps are used. It is folklore that if a continuous function on a complete metric space has approximate roots and in a uniform manner at most one root, then it actually has a root, which of course is uniquely determined. Also in Bishop's constructive mathematics with countable choice, the general setting of the present note, there is a simple method to validate this heuristic principle. The unique solution even becomes a continuous function in the parameters by a mild modification of the uniqueness hypothesis. Moreover, Brouwer's fan theorem for decidable bars turns out to be equivalent to the statement that, for uniformly continuous functions on a compact metric space, the crucial uniform “at most one” condition follows from its non‐uniform counterpart. This classification in the spirit of the constructive reverse mathematics, as propagated by Ishihara and others, sharpens an earlier result obtained jointly with Berger and Bridges.
