Splitting it up: Excellent agreement between the experimental and the quantum-chemically simulated Raman optical activity (ROA) spectrum of (+)-poly(trityl methacrylate) shows that the polymer backbone adopts a left-handed helical conformation while the trityl side groups display a left-handed propeller conformation. Thus ROA can be used to determine the complete structure of synthetic chiral polymers in solution.  相似文献

Fully aromatic helicenes with more than one pitch‐length are illustrious synthetic targets with potential applications in advanced optical devices and nano‐electronics. The task of extending the length of fully conjugated helicenes past one pitch length is challenging. Now, the synthesis of a series of azaoxa[7]‐, [10]‐, and [13]helicenes is described. The synthesis is based on iterative oxidative furan formation between 3,6‐dihydroxycarbazoles and/or 2‐naphthols. The flexibility of the presented method allows the convenient and scalable synthesis of symmetric, unsymmetrical, and asymmetric homo‐chiral structures. The [13]helicenes can be synthetically functionalized both at the termini and the periphery. The full range of helicenes were characterized using NMR and optical spectroscopy (UV/Vis, fluorescence, and CD) along with single‐crystal X‐ray crystallography. The enantiomers of the [13]helicenes are the longest optically pure helicenes isolated to date.  相似文献

α,β‐Unsaturated esters have been employed as substrates in iridium‐catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation. Full conversions and good to excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99 % ee) were obtained for a broad range of substrates with both aromatic‐ and aliphatic substituents on the prochiral carbon. The hydrogenated products are highly useful as building blocks in the synthesis of a variety of natural products and pharmaceuticals.  相似文献

Banana-shaped molecules, e.g. 1,3-phenylene bis[4-(4-n-alkoxyphenyliminomethyl)benzoates] and 1,3-phenylene bis[4-(4-n-alkylphenyliminomethyl)benzoates], form ferroelectric and chiral smectic phases without a chiral carbon. 13C NMR measurement suggested that 1,3-benzenediol dibenzoate (BD) moiety assumes asymmetrically twisted conformation which may be ascribed to the chirality of the phases. In this study, conformational analysis was carried out for BD by using the density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The results indicated that the asymmetrical twist conformation of the BD moiety is most stable.  相似文献

An organocatalytic approach for direct conversion of racemic diarylmethanols to valuable chiral diarylmethylamines is described. Different from the previously reported elegant “borrowing hydrogen” approach, the present process employs a distinct complementary formal SN1 strategy. This approach enjoys excellent enantioselectivity, mild conditions, broad scope, and easy product derivatization. Mechanistically, control experiments also provided important insights into some notable features, such as substrate kinetic resolution and reversibility as well as the critical role of the ortho‐ hydroxy group in the substrate.  相似文献

A novel chiral ammonia borane was designed and developed through the dehydrogenation of ammonia borane with a chiral phosphoric acid, which was highly effective for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of imines and β‐enamino esters to afford high levels of reactivities and enantioselectivities. Significantly, this chiral ammonia borane can be continuously regenerated during the transfer hydrogenation with the assistance of water and ammonia borane, which made it possible to obtain satisfactory results using only 0.1 mol % of the chiral phosphoric acid. Notably, the role of chiral phosphoric acid is to produce the chiral ammonia borane.  相似文献
