We investigate the dynamics of the wave packet formed by two codirected strongly interacting waves propagating in a medium with cubic nonlinearity. We obtain a soliton solution of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the degenerate case where the wave packet is described by a single partial momentum. In the nondegenerate case, we use the variational method to find the equation for the pulse duration, which turns out to be analogous to the equation for the coordinate in the Kepler problem. Solving it, we find the dependences of the pulse duration on the propagation distance in the cases of finite and infinite propagation regimes. 相似文献

The problem of transformation of the front of a plane longitudinal shock wave by curvilinear interfaces of layered anisotropic elastic media with different mechanical properties is considered. To solve the nonlinear Snell equations, the approach based on a synthesis of the Newton method and the algorithm of parametric continuation of a solution is used. The cases of focusing and scattering of rays by convex and concave interfaces of layered composite media and by convex lenses are investigated. In this article we use classical formulas involving the K–Bessel function in two variables to express the Poisson kernel on a Riemannian manifold in terms of the heat kernel. We then use the small time asymptotics of the heat kernel on certain Riemannian manifolds to obtain a meromorphic continuation of the associated Poisson kernel to all values of complex time with identifiable singularities. This result reproves in a different setting by different means a well–known theorem due to Duistermaat and Guillemin [DG 75].
