A semi-implicit Lagrangian finite difference scheme for 3D shallow water flow has been developed to include an eddy viscosity model for turbulent mixing in the vertical direction. The α-co-ordinate system for the vertical direction has been introduced to give accurate definition of bed and surface boundary conditions. The simple two-layer mixing length model for rough surfaces is used with the standard assumption that the shear stress across the wall region at a given horizontal location is constant. The bed condition is thus defined only by its roughness height (avoiding the need for a friction formula relating to depth-averaged flow, e.g. Chezy, used previously). The method is shown to be efficient and stable with an explicit Lagrangian formulation for convective terms and terms for surface elevation and vertical mixing handled implicitly. The method is applied to current flow around a circular island with gently sloping sides which produce periodic recirculation zones (vortex shedding). Comparisons are made with experimental measurements of velocity using laser Doppler anemometry (time histories at specific points) and surface particle-tracking velocimetry.  相似文献

The contact problem for an arbitrary punch acting on a transversely isotropic elastic layer bonded to a rigid foundation is solved by the generalized images method developed by the author earlier. The problem is reduced to that of an electrostatic problem of infinite row of coaxial charged disks in the shape of the domain of contact. The solution can be obtained by the method of iteration, collocations or any other standard procedure for solving integral equations. Exact inversion can be obtained in the case of a circular domain of contact. The mean value theorem can be used for estimation of the resultant force and tilting moment acting on a punch of arbitrary shape and circular domain of contact. A limiting case of general solution gives the solution for an isotropic layer. (Received: August 11, 2003)  相似文献

In this paper a new modelling method, called the tolerance averaging method, is presented and applied to analyse a buckling of thin periodic plates resting on a periodically heterogeneous Winkler foundation. The derived length-scale model makes it possible to take into account the effect of periodicity cell size (the length-scale effect) on the overall plate behaviour, on the contrary to the known homogenised models of periodic plates neglecting this effect. In order to evaluate obtained results the buckling problems of those plates are analysed using not only the proposed model but also a certain effective stiffnesses model. A comparison between obtained results leads to a conclusion that the length-scale effect could not be neglected in buckling of periodic plates resting on a Winkler foundation.  相似文献

In this article, both thermal buckling and post-buckling of pinned–fixed beams resting on an elastic foundation are investigated. Based on the accurate geometrically non-linear theory for Euler–Bernoulli beams, considering both linear and non-linear elastic foundation effects, governing equations for large static deformations of the beam subjected to uniform temperature rise are derived. Due to the large deformation of the beam, the constraint forces of elastic foundation in both longitudinal and transverse directions are taken into account. The boundary value problem for the non-linear ordinary differential equations is solved effectively by using the shooting method. Characteristic curves of critical buckling temperature versus elastic foundation stiffness parameter corresponding to the first, the second, and the third buckling mode shapes are plotted. From the numerical results it can be found that the buckling load-elastic foundation stiffness curves have no intersection when the value of linear foundation stiffness parameter is less than 3000, which is different from the behaviors of symmetrically supported (pinned–pinned and fixed–fixed) beams. As we expect that the non-linear foundation stiffness parameter has no sharp influence on the critical buckling temperature and it has a slight effect on the post-buckling temperature compared with the linear one.  相似文献
