This paper reports a simple and highly selective method for the separation, preconcentration, and determination of trace amounts of thorium and uranium in some complex samples via staircase flotation. The method is based on the initial flotation of the Th(IV)‐arsenazo III complex in the presence of U(VI) from a solution of 5 mol dm?3 HCl, then reduction of U(VI) to U(IV) and repetition of the flotation step. In both steps, the floated complex was dissolved in a 5‐mL portion of methanol and its absorbance was measured at 655 nm, spectrophotometrically. For a 30‐mL portion of the sample, Beer's law was obeyed over the concentration ranges of 3.40 × 10?7to 3.06 × 10?6 mol dm?3 for Th(IV) and3.40 × 10?7 to 3.40 × 10?6 mol dm?3 for U(IV) with the apparent molar absorptivity of 4.20 × 105 dm3 mol?1 cm?1 and 3.59 × 105 dm3 mol?1 cm?1, respectively. The RSDs (n = 7) corresponding to 1.7 × 10?6 mol dm?3 of Th(IV) and U(IV) were obtained as 1.7% and 1.87%. The detection limits (7 blanks) for both the metal ions were found to be 1.7 × 10?7 mol dm?3. The important benefit of the method is that the determinations are free from the interference of almost all cations and anions found in the complex matrixes, such as seawater samples. The proposed method was also applied to reference materials, and the determinations were shown to have good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

Summary A new index of performance of the chromatographic separation between two adjacent peaks, the discrimination factor, d0, is defined. It is normalized between 0 and 1 and is directly and easily determined from the chromatogram. It does not depend on any assumption regarding peak shape, except that the peak profiles of individual sample components have a single mode. Its value depends on the relative heights of the two peaks as well as on their separation. The separation power of a chromatographic system is classically measured by its peak capacity, defined on the basis of constant resolution between adjacent peaks. A previously developed statistical theory of the composition of mixtures makes it possible to extend the concept of peak capacity by taking into account the peak height distribution in typical average chromatograms. A new parameter, the effective peak capacity, is defined for this purpose on the basis of a constant discrimination factor between adjacent peaks. It allows to take into account the distribution of peak heights in statistical theories of the evaluation of complex chromatograms and in the measurement of the limit of determination in quantitative analysis. The characteristics of the two new parameters, the discrimination factor and effective peak capacity, are discussed and compared with those of their classical homologs, resolution and peak capacity, in the case of gaussian component peaks of equal widths.  相似文献

Facilitated transport process has attracted much attention because high selectivity and high permeability may be achieved. However, most research on facilitated transport process is concerned only with uniform membranes. In this paper, a model predicting the gas separation performance of a hollow-fiber module with facilitated transport membrane is developed. The influence of feed rate, operation pressure, and permeant-feed flow pattern on the module performance are analyzed and the effect of the nonuniform distribution of reaction equilibrium constant is examined. The calculated results show that the nonuniform active distribution may cause an improved module performance. Because of the passive transport characteristics of the facilitated transport process, the mass transfer driving force across the membrane has a great influence on the improvement of the module performance through a facilitated transport effect.  相似文献

A chromatographic method has been developed for separation and determination of scandium (Sc) and rare earth elements (REEs) in samples from a red mud (RM)-utilization process. Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with post-column derivatization using 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol (PAR) and UV–visible detection at 520 nm was tested using different gradient elution profiles and pH values to optimize separation and recovery, primarily for Sc but also for yttrium and the individual lanthanides, from iron present in the samples. The separation was performed in less than 20 min by use of a mobile phase gradient. The concentration of -hydroxyisobutyric acid (-HIBA), as eluent, was altered from 0.06 to 0.4 mol L–1 (pH 3.7) and 0.01 mol L–1 sodium salt n-octane sulfonic acid (OS) was used as modifier. Very low detection limits in the nanogram range and a good resolution for Sc and REEs except for Y/Dy were achieved. Before application of the method to the red mud samples and to the corresponding bauxites, Sc and REEs were leached from red mud with 0.6 mol L–1 HNO3 and mostly separated, as a group, from the main elements by ion exchange/selective elution (6 mol L–1 HNO3) in accordance with a pilot-plant process developed in this laboratory. After evaporation of the eluent to dryness the extracted elements were re-dissolved in the mobile phase. By use of this chromatographic method Sc, which is the most expensive of the elements investigated and occurs in economically interesting concentrations in red mud, could be separated not only from co-existing Fe but also from Y/Dy, Yb, Er, Ho, Gd, Eu, Sm, Nd, Pr, Ce and La. All the elements investigated were individually recovered. Their recoveries were found to be nearly quantitative.  相似文献

Summary The optimization of chromatographic methods for the determination of metal species require an understanding of the mechanisms involved. In this work, the separation of Cd, Co, Cu, Fe(II/III), Mn, Pb and Zn using a mixed bed column (IonPac CS5A) and a cation-exchange column (IonPac CS2) is studied as a function of mobile phase composition. The type and concentration of complexing agent and of ionic strength modificators were evaluated. The charge of analytes were calculated using the classical ion exchange approach to highlight the effect of eluent composition on retention. The comparative study enabled us to identify an optimal eluent composition for the separation of the nine metal species.  相似文献

A novel chelating polymeric material was synthesized by chemical anchoring of N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-dibutyl malonamide (DMDBMA) with chloromethylated polystyrene-divinyl benzene polymer. The polymeric material thus prepared was characterized by 13C NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy and CHN elemental analysis. The fabricated polymeric material exhibited superior binding for hexa-valent and tetra-valent metal ions such as U(VI) and Th(IV). Various physico-chemical properties of the functionalized polymer like phase adsorption kinetics, metal sorption mechanism and metal sorption capacity was studied in the static method. Adsorption kinetics studies show that <20 min was sufficient for >99.99% adsorption of Th(IV) and U(VI). The kinetics for adsorption of U(VI) and Th(IV) was found to follow the first order Lagergren rate kinetics. Adsorption of U(VI) on the malonamide functionalized polymer followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption phenomenon was also confirmed by the theoretical approach calculated based on the adsorption kinetics. The metal sorption capacities for uranium and thorium were found to be 18.78 ± 1.53 mg and 15.74 ± 1.59 mg/g of the chelating polymer at 3 M HNO3, respectively.  相似文献

本文根据谷氨酸和谷氨酰胺的电离常数的差异,采用一种新型的离子交换工艺,通过单根阴离子交换柱,从谷氨酰胺发酵液中提取谷氨酰胺。粗晶溶解液通过阴离子交换柱后,谷氨酰胺最高收率达到83%,谷氨酸去除率90%。该法在显著提高产品收率的同时,还大大减少了酸碱用量。  相似文献

用CoMFA和HQSAR两种QSAR方法研究了50个乙内酰脲类分子的定量构效关系.本研究从构象搜索所得的低能结构出发构建化合物分子的构象, 建立CoMFA模型,并进行了全空间搜索. HQSAR本质上是一种二维的QSAR方法,与CoMFA方法相比,该方法在数据处理方面,比CoMFA方法快捷,并且可重复性好.两种方法均得到了较好分析结果, CoMFA的交叉验证相关系数q2 值为0.815, HQSAR的q2值为0.893.这些方程有力地说明了该类分子在(R,R)-N-3,5-dinitrobenzoyl-1,2-diamine型手性固定相上拆分过程中的影响因素,对今后类似拆分的实验研究提供了理论支持.  相似文献

Herein, we demonstrate that silica films with perpendicular macroporous channels and accessible ordered mesopores can be conveniently prepared. The hierarchical macroporous–mesoporous silica films are synthesized by using zinc oxide nanorod array as macroporous template and CTAB surfactant as mesoporous template. In basic surfactant-containing solution, ordered mesoporous silica shells homogeneously grow on the zinc oxide nanorod array. The growth of the mesostructures do not require any chemical modification for the zinc oxide nanorod, which opens a new way for preparing hierarchical silica films with perpendicular mesochannels. The prepared hierarchical macroporous–mesoporous silica films possess a uniform thickness of 2 mm, large perpendicular macropores with a length of 1.8 mm and a width of 80 nm, and accessible ordered mesopores. Separation experiment demonstrates that this macroporous–mesoporous film can effectively separate biomolecules with different sizes.  相似文献

The components of synthesis gas, CO, H2, and CO2, may be converted into CH4 biologically through either acetate or H2/CO2 as intermediates. Of these two routes, conversion through H2/CO2 is preferred. This paper presents results of mixed-culture studies employing the photosynthetic bacteriumR. rubrum for converting CO to CO2 and H2 by the water gas shift reaction and two methanogens,M. formicicum andM. barkeri, for converting CO2 and H2 into CH4. Results are presented for triculture operation in two types of reactors, the packed bubble column and the trickle-bed reactor.  相似文献
