The vibrational properties of clean, H- and D-covered GaN{0001} surfaces were investigated by high-resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopy. Auger electron spectroscopy and low-energy electron diffraction were utilized to monitor the surface cleanliness and structure, respectively. At the clean surface the Fuchs-Kliewer surface phonon frequency was determined to 700 cm-1 (86.8 meV). For the adsorbate-covered surfaces current structure models predict only Ga-H vibrations for surfaces of either polarity. Despite of this, the HREEL-spectra of the hydrogenated sample show a new loss structure at 3255 cm-1 (403.6 meV) and a shoulder at 1900 cm-1 (235.6 meV) which are attributed to N-H and Ga-H stretching vibrations, respectively. After deuterium exposure an isotope shift occurs. Again, a N-adsorbate vibration is clearly resolved. A Ga-D bending mode is observed at 390 cm-1 (48.4 meV), indicating that vibrations of both species are present. Received 1 February 2000  相似文献

Summary A detailed experimental analysis of the inelastic crosssection along the [111]-direction in Co−Ni alloys is presented. Using a simple model and studying the cross-section as a function of both composition and temperature, it is shown that interesting information about the h.c.p.-f.c.c. transition can be gained in these alloys.

This paper presents a three-dimensional model for the analysis of ground vibrations excited by forces transmitted to the ground from the wheels of a moving train through the track. The field equations are solved by using scalar wave functions. From the computed results presented here, certain qualitative conclusions can be made to enhance our understanding of the physical problem.  相似文献

High-speed rotors are often supported in floating ring bearings because of their good damping behavior. In contrast to conventional hydrodynamic bearings with a single oil film, full-floating ring bearings consist of two oil films: An inner and an outer oil film. As single oil-film bearings, full-floating ring bearings also show the typical fluid-film-induced instabilities (self-excited vibrations). Both inner and outer oil films can become unstable and exhibit oil whirl/whip instabilities. The paper at hand considers a Laval (Jeffcott) rotor, which is symmetrically supported in full-floating ring bearings, and investigates the occurring oil whirl/whip effects by means of run-up simulations. It is shown that the inner oil film, which usually becomes unstable first, gives rise to a limit-cycle oscillation with an exactly circular rotor orbit, if gravity and imbalance are neglected. Interesting is the instability generated by the outer oil film. The calculations demonstrate that instability in the outer oil film does not lead to a simple circular limit-cycle orbit. Whirl/whip-induced limit-cycle oscillations generated by the outer oil film are more complex and entail a coupled circumferential and radial motion, although the mechanical problem is radially symmetric, if gravity and imbalance are neglected. Thus, whirl/whip instability in the outer fluid film may be interpreted as symmetry breaking. Finally, a further kind of bifurcation/instability occurring in rotors supported in full-floating ring bearings—called Total Instability in this paper—is analyzed. It is shown that Total Instability is caused by synchronization of two limit cycles, namely synchronization of the inner and outer oil whirl/whip. Total Instability is of practical interest and observed in real technical rotor systems, and frequently leads to complete rotor damage.  相似文献

The effect of fluctuations in the two-variable discrete delay model proposed earlier by us [1] for the circadian rhythm of the fungal species Neurospora Crassa is studied. We have investigated the effect of parametric and additive noise in two different regimes namely, steady-state and Period-1 regimes. It is found that under the influence of noise coherent oscillations are generated in the steady-state. Oscillations are preserved and robust to a wide range of noise intensity in the Period-1 regime. The oscillations in both these regimes are always found to be close to the circadian period (21.5 h). Coherence resonance is observed when parametric or velocity additive noise is added near the Hopf bifurcation. Finally, the implications of fluctuations in circadian rhythms are discussed. Infinite-dimensional parameter-dependent optimization problems of the form ‘minJ(u;p) subject to g(u)?0’ are studied, where u is sought in an L function space, J is a quadratic objective functional, and g represents pointwise linear constraints. This setting covers in particular control constrained optimal control problems. Sensitivities with respect to the parameter p of both, optimal solutions of the original problem, and of its approximation by the classical primal-dual interior point approach are considered. The convergence of the latter to the former is shown as the homotopy parameter μ goes to zero, and error bounds in various Lq norms are derived. The equations of nonaxisymmetric vibrations of sandwich cylindrical shells with discrete core under nonstationary loading are presented. The components of the elastic structure are analyzed using a refined Timoshenko theory of shells and rods. The numerical method used to solve the dynamic equations is based on the integro-interpolation method of constructing finite-difference schemes for equations with discontinuous coefficients.
