A new algorithm for singular value decomposition (SVD) is presented through relating SVD problem to nonlinear systems whose solutions are constrained on hyperplanes. The hyperplane constrained nonlinear systems are solved with the help of Newton’s iterative method. It is proved that our SVD algorithm has the quadratic convergence substantially and all singular pairs are computable. These facts are also confirmed by some numerical examples.  相似文献

The smoothing-type algorithm has been successfully applied to solve various optimization problems. In general, the smoothing-type algorithm is designed based on some monotone line search. However, in order to achieve better numerical results, the non-monotone line search technique has been used in the numerical computations of some smoothing-type algorithms. In this paper, we propose a smoothing-type algorithm for solving the nonlinear complementarity problem with a non-monotone line search. We show that the proposed algorithm is globally and locally superlinearly convergent under suitable assumptions. The preliminary numerical results are also reported.  相似文献

The extended tanh method with a computerized symbolic computation is used for constructing the traveling wave solutions of coupled nonlinear equations arising in physics. Numerical solutions to the Frank-Kamenetskii partial differential equation modelling a thermal explosion in a cylindrical vessel are obtained using the hopscotch scheme. We observe that a nonlinear source term in the equation leads to numerical difficulty and hence adjust the scheme to accommodate such a term. Numerical solutions obtained via MATLAB, MATHEMATICA and the Crank-Nicolson implicit scheme are employed as a means of comparison. To gain insight into the accuracy of the hopscotch scheme the solution is compared to a power series solution obtained via the Lie group method. The numerical solution is also observed to converge to a well-known steady state solution. A linear stability analysis is performed to validate the stability of the results obtained.  相似文献

Two successively iterative sequences are constructed for computing solutions of the nonlinear Neumann boundary value problems with time singularity. The sequences start off with some constants. Main tool is the fixed point theorem of increasing operator on the order interval. By considering convergence of the sequences, we prove the existence of nontrivial sign-changing solutions.  相似文献

Comput. 207 (2009) 140-147] is reported. This paper gives the right proof under some additional condition. This method uses in a systematic way the residual as search direction, but it does not use first order information. In this paper, two semi-explicit multisymplectic schemes are derived for the strongly coupled schrödinger system. Based on the two new multisymplectic schemes, we obtain a multisymplectic composition scheme which improves the accuracy in time. The best merits of the present schemes are all implemented easily. Some numerical simulations are done for investigating nonlinear coupling and linear coupling. Numerical results indicate that the new multisymplectic composition scheme is effective.  相似文献

The author surveys a few examples of boundary layers for which the Prandtl boundary layer theory can be rigorously validated. All of them are associated with the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations for Newtonian fluids equipped with various Dirichlet boundary conditions (specified velocity). These examples include a family of (nonlinear 3D) plane parallel flows, a family of (nonlinear) parallel pipe flows, as well as flows with uniform injection and suction at the boundary. We also identify a key ingredient in establishing the validity of the Prandtl type theory, i.e., a spectral constraint on the approximate solution to the Navier-Stokes system constructed by combining the inviscid solution and the solution to the Prandtl type system. This is an additional difficulty besides the wellknown issue related to the well-posedness of the Prandtl type system. It seems that the main obstruction to the verification of the spectral constraint condition is the possible separation of boundary layers. A common theme of these examples is the inhibition of separation of boundary layers either via suppressing the velocity normal to the boundary or by injection and suction at the boundary so that the spectral constraint can be verified. A meta theorem is then presented which covers all the cases considered here.  相似文献
