We have investigated ten standard single crystal substrates of complex oxides on the account of their applicability in the Raman spectroscopy‐based thin film research. In this study, we suggest a spectra normalization procedure that utilizes a comparison of the substrate's Raman spectra to those of well‐established Raman reference materials. We demonstrate that MgO, LaGaO3, (LaAlO3)0.3(Sr2AlTaO6)0.7 (LSAT), DyScO3, YAlO3, and LaAlO3 can be of potential use for Raman‐based thin film research. At the same time TiO2 (rutile), NdGaO3, SrLaAlO4, and SrTiO3 single crystals exhibit multiple phonon modes accompanied by strong Raman background that substantially hinder Raman‐based thin film experiments. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) is used to investigate the effects of ionizing radiation on Ag-doped lithium tetraborate (Li2B4O7) crystals. Two similar, yet distinct, trapped-hole centers (Ag2+ ions substituting for Li+ ions) are produced by 60 kV x rays. One Ag2+ ion, labeled Center A, has no nearby defects and the other Ag2+ ion, labeled Center B, has a neighboring impurity which is most likely a Ag+ ion substituting for a Li+ ion. The production and thermal decay properties of the two Ag2+ ions are described and their g matrices and 107Ag and 109Ag hyperfine matrices are obtained from the EPR angular dependences. The principal values of the g matrices are similar for the two centers, but the hyperfine principal values differ significantly (Center B has smaller values than Center A). There are also differences in the directions of the principal axes for the two centers. Together, these results imply (1) that the unpaired spin is less localized for Center B and (2) that the ground-state positions of the neighboring oxygen ions are different for Centers A and B. This explains why the peaks of the Ag2+ charge-transfer photoluminescence bands associated with Centers A and B occur at different wavelengths (502 and 725 nm, respectively). An isochronal pulsed thermal anneal shows that these radiation-induced Ag2+ ions serve as the recombination site for the intense thermoluminescence peak observed near 152 °C. 相似文献

A new nonlinear optical organic crystal l-tryptophan p-nitrophenol (LTPNP) of dimension 19 mm × 2 mm × 1.5 mm has been grown from an aqueous solution for the first time by slow evaporation technique at ambient temperature. The crystal structure of LTPNP was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. LTPNP crystallizes in non-centrosymmetric monoclinic system with space group P21. The recorded FTIR spectrum confirms the presence of various functional groups in the grown crystal and confirms the formation of LTPNP. Thermal stability and melting temperature of the LTPNP crystal were identified from TG/DTA analysis. The optical absorption study confirms the suitability of the crystal for device applications. LTPNP exhibits SHG efficiency over 1.7 orders of magnitude higher than that of urea and 4 orders of magnitude higher than that of KDP. 相似文献

Rubidium and cesium metal nanoparticles were grown in nanoporous silica samples placed in alkali vapor cells. Their size and
shape were investigated by measuring the sample optical transmittance. Spectral changes due to photodesorption processes activated
by weak light were also analyzed. Alkali atoms photoejected from the silica walls diffuse through and out of the nanopores,
modifying both the nanoparticle distribution in the silica matrix and the atomic vapor pressure in the cell volume. The number
of rubidium and cesium atoms burst out of the samples was measured as a function of photon energy and fluence. The optical
absorption measurements together with the analysis of the photodesorption yield give a complete picture of the processes triggered
by light inside the nanopores. We show that atomic photodesorption, upon proper choice of light frequency and intensity, induces
either growth or evaporation of nanosized alkali metal clusters. Cluster size and shape are determined by the host-guest interaction. 相似文献

Pure titania porous layers consisted of anatase and rutile phases, chemically and structurally suitable for catalytic applications, were grown via micro-arc oxidation (MAO). The effect of applied voltage, process time, and electrolyte concentration on surface structure, chemical composition, and especially photocatalytic activity of the layers was investigated. SEM and AFM studies revealed that pore size and surface roughness of the layers increased with the applied voltage, and the electrolyte concentration. Moreover, the photocatalytic performance of the layers synthesized at medium applied voltages was significantly higher than that of the layers produced at other voltages. About 90% of methylene blue solution was decomposed after 180 min UV-irradiation on the layers produced in an electrolyte with a concentration of 10 g l−1 at the applied voltage of 450 V. 相似文献

The extinction spectrum of single silver nanoparticles
with size ranging from 20 to 80 nm is investigated with the spatial
modulation spectroscopy technique using either a tunable laser or a white
lamp as the broadband source. Results are in good agreement with the
prediction of the Mie theory, permitting to extract the nanoparticle size
from the measured absolute value of the optical extinction cross-section. In
contrast, the deduced refractive index of the nanoparticle environment and
the reduction of the electron mean free path show a large dependence on the

Single crystals of U(Ni1-xPdx)2Si2 with x = 0.05, 0.09 and 0.135 have been grown. Magnetization and electrical resistivity measurements were performed in a wide range
of temperatures and magnetic fields in order to study stability of magnetic phases in the solid solutions between UNi2Si2 and UPd2Si2 with a special emphasis on the type of ground state. In UPd2Si2 the simple AFI-type antiferromagnetic structure of U moments is observed at low temperatures. UNi2Si2 adopts the uncompensated AF structure (UAF) with the + + - stacking of U moments along the c-axis and consequently this compound exhibits a spontaneous magnetization corresponding to 1/3 of the U moment. The substitution
of Pd for Ni leads to a rapid decay of the spontaneous magnetization. The evolution of magnetization and electrical resistivity
behavior with Pd doping is tentatively attributed to the coexistence of the AF-I and UAF phases in the ground state of U(Ni0.91Pd0.09)2Si2 and U(Ni0.865Pd0.135)2Si2. In this scenario, the volume fraction of the AF-I phase rapidly grows with Pd doping on account of the UAF. At lowest temperatures
an irreversible transition to the UAF phase is observed when a sufficiently high magnetic field is applied along the c-axis.
