On the isolated singularities of the solutions of the Gaussian curvature equation for nonnegative curvature

The precise asymptotic behaviour of the solutions to the two-dimensional curvature equation Δu=k(z)e2u with e2u∈L¹ for bounded nonnegative curvature functions −k(z) near isolated singularities is obtained.     

Random waypoint model in n-dimensional space

The random waypoint model (RWP) is one of the most widely used mobility models in performance analysis of mobile wireless networks. In this paper we extend the previous work by deriving an analytical formula for the stationary distribution of a node moving according to a RWP model in n-dimensional space.     

Conformally Einstein products and nearly Kähler manifolds

In the first part of this note we study compact Riemannian manifolds (M, g) whose Riemannian product with is conformally Einstein. We then consider 6-dimensional almost Hermitian manifolds of type W ₁ + W ₄ in the Gray–Hervella classification admitting a parallel vector field and show that (under some mild assumption) they are obtained as Riemannian cylinders over compact Sasaki–Einstein 5-dimensional manifolds.

Barbilian’s metrization procedure in the plane yields either Riemannian or Lagrange generalized metrics

In the present paper we answer two questions raised by Barbilian in 1960. First, we study how far can the hypothesis of Barbilian’s metrization procedure can be relaxed. Then, we prove that Barbilian’s metrization procedure in the plane generates either Riemannian metrics or Lagrance generalized metrics not reducible to Finslerian or Langrangian metrics.     

All regular Landsberg metrics are Berwald

This article negatively answers the long standing problem concerning the existence of non-Berwald Landsberg metrics.     

Decomposition and removability properties of John domains

In this paper we characterize John domains in terms of John domain decomposition property. In addition, we also show that a domain D in ℔ ⁿ is a John domain if and only if DP is a John domain, where P is a subset of D containing finitely many points of D. The best possibility and an application of the second result are also discussed.     

On the characterisation of paired monotone metrics

Hasegawa and Petz introduced the notion of paired monotone metrics. They also gave a characterisation theorem showing that Wigner-Yanase-Dyson metrics are the only members of the paired family. In this paper we show that the characterisation theorem holds true under hypotheses that are more general than those used in the above quoted references.     

Reflection quotients in Riemannian geometry. A geometric converse to Chevalley's theorem

Chevalley's theorem and its converse, the Sheppard-Todd theorem, assert that finite reflection groups are distinguished by the fact that the ring of invariant polynomials is freely generated. We show that, in the Euclidean case, a weaker condition suffices to characterize finite reflection groups, namely, that a freely-generated polynomial subring is closed with respect to the gradient product.
