This paper presents a computational estimation of the total ionizing dose from protons and electrons in the Earth's magnetosphere and interplanetary space for a hypothetical CubeSat transiting from Earth to Mars. An initial hyperbolic escape of the spacecraft from Earth's gravitation is assumed, followed by an elliptical transfer from Earth to Mars under the Sun's gravitation. The rapid traversal of the Earth's radiation belt yields a smaller ionizing dose, whereas high-energy solar protons in the interplanetary space have the greatest effect on the ionizing dose during the transfer between the planets. Variation in the heliocentric distance of the spacecraft is considered in the calculation. Calculation of the shielding distributions with Geant4 and the transport of the ionizing particles across the obtained distributions yields an estimation of the total ionizing dose as a function of position within the spacecraft as well as statistical confidence levels. With a moderate confidence level, this calculation shows that a practical exploration of Mars with a CubeSat is possible in terms of the expected total ionizing dose. 相似文献

A series of new mononuclear and carboranylcarboxylate‐bridged dinuclear copper(II) compounds containing the 1‐CH3‐2‐CO2H‐1,2‐closo‐C2B10H10 carborane ligand ( L H) has been synthesized. Reaction of different copper salts with L H at room temperature leads to dinuclear compounds of the general formula [Cu2(μ‐ L )4( Lt )2] ( Lt =thf ( 1 ), Lt =H2O ( 1′ )). The reaction of 1 and 1′ with different terminal pyridyl (py) ligands leads to the formation of a series of structurally analogous complexes by substitution of the terminal ligand thf or H2O ( Lt =py ( 2 ), p‐CF3‐py ( 3 ), p‐CH3‐py ( 4 ), pz ( 6 ), and 4,4′‐bpy ( 7 )), which maintain the structural Cu2(μ‐O2CR)4 core in the majority of the cases except for o‐(CH3)2‐py, where a mononuclear compound ( 5 ) is exclusively obtained. These compounds have been characterized through analytical, spectroscopic (NMR, IR, UV‐visible, ESI‐MS) and magnetic techniques. X‐ray structural analysis revealed a paddle‐wheel structure for the dinuclear compounds, with a square‐pyramidal geometry around each copper ion and the carboranylcarboxylate ions bridging two copper atoms in syn–syn mode. The mononuclear complex obtained with the o‐(CH3)2‐py ligand presents a square‐planar structure, in which the carboranylcarboxylate ligand adopts a monodentate coordination mode. The magnetic properties of the dinuclear compounds 1 , 3 , 4 , and 6 show a strong antiferromagnetic coupling in all cases (J=?261 ( 1 ), ?255 ( 3 ), ?241 ( 4 ), ?249 cm?1 ( 6 )). Computational studies based on hybrid density functional methods have been used to study the magnetic properties of the complexes and also to evaluate their relative stability on the basis of the strength of the bond between each CuII and the terminal ligand. 相似文献

Residual dipolar couplings between spin-1/2 and quadrupolar nuclei are often observed and exploited in the magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectra of spin-1/2 nuclei. These orientation-dependent splittings contain information on the dipolar interaction, which can be translated into structural information. The same type of splittings may also be observed for pairs of quadrupolar nuclei, although information is often difficult to extract from the quadrupolar-broadened lineshapes. Here, the complete theory for describing the dipolar coupling between two quadrupolar nuclei in the frequency domain by Hamiltonian diagonalization is given. The theory is developed under MAS and double-rotation (DOR) conditions, and is valid for any spin quantum numbers, quadrupolar coupling constants, asymmetry parameters, and tensor orientations at both nuclei. All terms in the dipolar Hamiltonian become partially secular and contribute to the NMR spectrum. The theory is validated using experimental 11B and 35/37Cl NMR experiments carried out on powdered B-chlorocatecholborane, where both MAS and DOR are used to help separate effects of the quadrupolar interaction from those of the dipolar interaction. It is shown that the lineshapes are sensitive to the quadrupolar coupling constant of both nuclei and to the J coupling (including its sign). From these experiments, the dipolar coupling constant for a heteronuclear spin pair of quadrupolar nuclei may be obtained as well as the sign of the quadrupolar coupling constant of the perturbing nucleus; these are two parameters that are difficult to obtain experimentally otherwise. 相似文献

Low mass compact rovers provide cost effective means to explore extra-terrestrial terrains. Use of flexible wheels in such applications where the wheel size is restricted, improves traction at reduced slip and sinkage. Design of a flexible wheel for a given mission is a challenging task requiring consideration of stiffness of rim and spokes, stress induced in the wheel, chassis movement during wheel rotation and the operating mode of the wheel. Also, accurate mathematical models are required to save design and development time and reduce the number of prototypes for selection. It is observed that most of the research papers deal with performance testing of flexible wheels and information on analytical formulation is scarce. Therefore, in the present work, a methodology has been formulated to systematically design a flexible wheel for a low mass lunar rover. The prototype performance is tested and compared with analytical estimates and reasons for difference are investigated. Paper contains details of design criteria, mathematical modelling, realisation of wheel prototype, test fixture and analysis test comparison. Authors believe that this work provides a useful aid to the designer to systematically design flexible wheels for low mass lunar rovers. 相似文献
