In this article we verify an orbifold version of a conjecture of Nimershiem from 1998. Namely, for every flat n-manifold M, we show that the set of similarity classes of flat metrics on M which occur as a cusp cross-section of a hyperbolic (n + 1)-orbifold is dense in the space of similarity classes of flat metrics on M. The set used for density is precisely the set of those classes which arise in arithmetic orbifolds.   相似文献

We prove some sharp isoperimetric type inequalities in warped product manifolds, or more generally, multiply warped product manifolds. We also relate them to inequalities involving the higher order mean-curvature integrals. Applications include some sharp eigenvalue estimates, Pólya-Szegö inequality, Faber-Krahn inequality, Sobolev inequality and some sharp geometric inequalities in some warped product spaces.  相似文献

Impulsive control systems are suitable to describe and control a venue of real-life problems, going from disease treatment to aerospace guidance. The main characteristic of such systems is that they evolve freely in-between impulsive actions, which makes it difficult to guarantee its permanence in a given state-space region. In this work, we develop a method for characterizing and computing approximations to the maximal control invariant sets for linear impulsive control systems, which can be explicitly used to formulate a set-based model predictive controller. We approach this task using a tractable and non-conservative characterization of the admissible state sets, namely the states whose free response remains within given constraints, emerging from a spectrahedron representation of such sets for systems with rational eigenvalues. The so-obtained impulsive control invariant set is then explicitly used as a terminal set of a predictive controller, which guarantees the feasibly asymptotic convergence to a target set containing the invariant set. Necessary conditions under which an arbitrary target set contains an impulsive control invariant set (and moreover, an impulsive control equilibrium set) are also provided, while the controller performance are tested by means of two simulation examples.  相似文献

The Green function of the spectral ball is constant over the isospectral varieties, is never less than the pullback of its counterpart on the symmetrized polydisk, and is equal to it in the generic case where the pole is a cyclic (non-derogatory) matrix. When the pole matrix is derogatory, the inequality is always strict, and the difference between the two functions depends on the multiplicity of the eigenvalues as roots of the minimal polynomial of that matrix. In particular, the Green function of the spectral ball is not symmetric in its arguments. Additionally, some estimates are given for invariant functions in the symmetrized polydisc, e.g. (infinitesimal versions of) the Carathéodory distance and the Green function, that show that they are distinct in dimension greater or equal to 3.  相似文献
