A novel aqueous three‐phase system was formed spontaneously when a nonionic surfactant (Triton X‐100) and two polymers (PEG and dextran) were mixed. The interfacial tension between the phases was measured by the spinning drop method. It was shown that the values of interfacial tension were extremely small. The interfacial tensions of the top/middle phases were much lower than those of the middle/bottom phases. The interfacial tension was affected by component concentrations, temperature, added salts, and the density difference between two phases. Temperature exhibited a special effect on interfacial tension: with the increase of temperature, interfacial tension increases significantly.  相似文献

We present a click chemistry‐based molecular toolkit for the biofunctionalization of materials to selectively control integrin‐mediated cell adhesion. To this end, α5β1‐selective RGD peptidomimetics were covalently immobilized on Ti‐based materials, and the capacity to promote the selective binding of α5β1 was evaluated using a solid‐phase integrin binding assay. This functionalization strategy yielded surfaces with a nine‐fold increased affinity for α5β1, in comparison to control samples, and total selectivity against the binding of the closely related integrin αvβ3. Moreover, our methodology allowed the screening of several phosphonic acid containing anchoring units to find the best spacer–anchor moiety required for establishing an efficient binding to titanium and to promote selective integrin binding. The integrin subtype specificity of these biofunctionalized surfaces was further examined in vitro by inducing selective adhesion of genetically modified fibroblasts, which express exclusively the α5β1 integrin. The versatility of our molecular toolkit was proven by shifting the cellular specificity of the materials from α5β1‐ to αvβ3‐expressing fibroblasts by using an αvβ3‐selective peptidomimetic as coating molecule. The results shown here represent the first functionalization of Ti‐based materials with α5β1‐ or αvβ3‐selective peptidomimetics that allow an unprecedented control to discriminate between α5β1‐ and αvβ3‐mediated adhesions. The role of these two integrins in different biological events is still a matter of debate and is frequently discussed in literature. Thus, such bioactive titanium surfaces will be of great relevance for the study of integrin‐mediated cell adhesion and the development of new biomaterials targeting specific cell types.  相似文献

Advancements in the fabrication of microfluidic and nanofluidic devices and the study of liquids in confined geometries rely on understanding the boundary conditions for the flow of liquids at solid surfaces. Over the past ten years, a large number of research groups have turned to investigating flow boundary conditions, and the occurrence of interfacial slip has become increasingly well-accepted and understood. While the dependence of slip on surface wettability is fairly well understood, the effect of other surface modifications that affect surface roughness, structure and compliance, on interfacial slip is still under intense investigation. In this paper we review investigations published in the past ten years on boundary conditions for flow on complex surfaces, by which we mean rough and structured surfaces, surfaces decorated with chemical patterns, grafted with polymer layers, with adsorbed nanobubbles, and superhydrophobic surfaces. The review is divided in two interconnected parts, the first dedicated to physical experiments and the second to computational experiments on interfacial slip of simple (Newtonian) liquids on these complex surfaces. Our work is intended as an entry-level review for researchers moving into the field of interfacial slip, and as an indication of outstanding problems that need to be addressed for the field to reach full maturity.  相似文献

High-k HfOxNy thin films with different nitrogen-incorporation content have been fabricated on Si (1 0 0) substrate by means of radio-frequency reactive sputtering method. Analyses from X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopic have indicated that the increase of the crystallization temperature of HfO2 thin films and the decrease of the roughness root-mean-square value of HfO2 thin films due to the incorporation of nitrogen. Based on a parameterized Tauc-Lorentz (TL) dispersion model, the optical properties of the HfOxNy thin films related to different nitrogen-incorporation content are systematically investigated by spectroscopic ellipsometer. Increase in the refractive index and the extinction coefficient and reduction in band gap with increase of nitrogen-incorporation content are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Novel model compounds are desired to study properties of a narrow group of tetrameric acids from crude oil mainly responsible for naphthenate deposition. It is important to make a comparison to find to what degree the model compounds can reflect the properties of the indigenous tetraacids and where there are deviations, before using the model compounds in naphthenate research. A comparison between two synthesised model compounds and indigenous tetraacids has been carried out regarding physicochemical properties including thermal solid state properties, critical micelle concentrations, monolayer properties and interfacial reactions. Of the two studied model compounds, one was observed to form the same cross-linked network with Ca2+, a typical feature of the indigenous tetraacids. Interfacial reactions using the pendant drop technique also showed that four different divalent cations could all form this network with the model tetraacid. The film formation was however dependent on the ratio M2+/TA. The main deviations were in the solid state, where the model compounds showed crystalline transitions, contrary to the indigenous tetraacids. We conclude that the two different model compounds mimic the indigenous tetraacids well with respect to several of their properties and are suitable for use in naphthenate research.  相似文献

Aggregation and deaggregation behaviors of the phenol derivatives with a branched hydrocarbon chain have been studied in the CH3OH and buffer solution. Combination with the aggregation number measurement and the cell adhesion experiment, the structure effect on the deaggregating abilities of the target molecules are discussed. The results indicate that 2-phytyl-4-methoxylphenol (11) is the most effective deaggregator in the system studied.  相似文献

In gas–liquid stratified flows, pressure drop and transport across the interface are strongly influenced by the interfacial wave structure, making the determination of interfacial topography in this kind of flows very important. An objective way of characterizing the wave pattern present in the interface is proposed here. The method consists in analysing the spectra of the signal obtained from Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) measurements of fluctuations occurring close to the air-sheared interface. Transitions are defined by the appearance and disappearance of peaks in the frequency spectra. The method was applied to study the transition regimes of a stratified air–water flow in a square-cross section channel. A flow pattern map for air–water channel flow is presented and compared with the maps available from the literature.  相似文献

Dynamics of interfacial electron transfer (ET) in ruthenium polypyridyl complex [{bis-(2,2′-bpy)-(4-[2-(4′-methyl-[2,2′]bipyridinyl-4-yl)-vinyl]-benzene-1,2-diol)}ruthenium(II) hexafluorophosphate] (Ru-cat) and 5,10,15-tris phenyl-20-(3,4-dihydroxy benzene) porphyrin (TPP-cat)-sensitized TiO2 nanoparticles have been investigated using femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopic detection in the visible and near-infrared region. We have observed that both Ru-cat and TPP-cat are coupled strongly with the TiO2 nanoparticles through their pendant catechol moieties. We have observed a single exponential and pulse-width limited (<100 fs) electron injection from nonthermalized-excited states of Ru-complex. Here electron injection competes with the singlet-triplet manifold relaxation due to strong coupling of catecholate binding, which is a unique observation. Optical absorption spectra indicate that the catechol moiety interacts with TiO2 nanoparticles showing the characteristic pure catechol-TiO2 charge-transfer (CT) band in the visible region. Transient absorption studies on TPP-cat/TiO2 system exciting both the Soret band at 400 nm and the Q-band at 800 nm have been carried out to determine excitation wavelength-dependence on ET dynamics. The reaction channel for the electron-injection process has been found to be different for both the excitation wavelengths. Excitation at 800 nm, is found directly populate directly the excited CT state from where diffusion of electrons into the conduction band takes place. On the other hand, excitation at 400 nm light excites both the CT band of cat-TiO2 and also Soret band of TPP-cat.  相似文献
