This article proposes a Bayesian density estimation method based upon mixtures of gamma distributions. It considers both the cases of known mixture size, using a Gibbs sampling scheme with a Metropolis step, and unknown mixture size, using a reversible jump technique that allows us to move from one mixture size to another. We illustrate our methods using a number of simulated datasets, generated from distributions covering a wide range of cases: single distributions, mixtures of distributions with equal means and different variances, mixtures of distributions with different means and small variances and, finally, a distribution contaminated by low-weighted distributions with different means and equal, small variances. An application to estimation of some quantities for a M/G/1 queue is given, using real E-mail data from CNR-IAMI. 相似文献

In this article, we consider a continuous-time state-dependent jump linear system (SDJLS), a kind of stochastic hybrid system, with the presence of uncertainties in system parameters. In SDJLS, we consider that the transition rates of the underlying random jump process depend on the state variable. In particular, we assume the transition rates to have different values across suitably defined sets to which the state of the system belongs, and address a problem of robust stability and stabilization analysis. We obtain sufficient conditions for robust stability and state-feedback stabilization in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Let Y = m(X) + ε be a regression model with a dichotomous output Y and a one‐step regression function m . In the literature, estimators for the three parameters of m , that is, the breakpoint θ and the levels a and b , are proposed for independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) observations. We show that these standard estimators also work in a non‐i.i.d. framework, that is, that they are strongly consistent under mild conditions. For that purpose, we use a linear one‐factor model for the input X and a Bernoulli mixture model for the output Y . The estimators for the split point and the risk levels are applied to a problem arising in credit rating systems. In particular, we divide the range of individuals' creditworthiness into two groups. The first group has a higher probability of default and the second group has a lower one. We also stress connections between the standard estimator for the cutoff θ and concepts prevalent in credit risk modeling, for example, receiver operating characteristic. This article studies the rate of convergence of the weak Euler approximation for Itô diffusion and jump processes with Hölder-continuous generators. It covers a number of stochastic processes including the nondegenerate diffusion processes and a class of stochastic differential equations driven by stable processes. To estimate the rate of convergence, the existence of a unique solution to the corresponding backward Kolmogorov equation in Hölder space is first proved. Proppants transport is an advanced technique to improve the hydraulic fracture phenomenon, in order to promote the versatility of gas/oil reservoirs. A numerical simulation of proppants transport at both hydraulic fracture (HF) and natural fracture (NF) intersection is performed to provide a better understanding of key factors which cause, or contribute to proppants transport in HF–NF intersection. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in association with discrete element method (DEM) is used to model the complex interactions between proppant particles, host fluid medium and fractured walls. The effect of non-spherical geometry of particles is considered in this model, using the multi-sphere method. All interaction forces between fluid flow and particles are considered in the computational model. Moreover, the interactions of particle–particle and particle–wall are taken into account via Hertz–Mindlin model. The results of the CFD-DEM simulations are compared to the experimental data. It is found that the CFD-DEM simulation is capable of predicting proppant transport and deposition quality at intersections which are in agreement with experimental data. The results indicate that the HF–NF intersection type, fluid velocity and NF aperture affect the quality of blockage occurrence, presenting a new index, called the blockage coefficient which indicates the severity of the blockage. 相似文献

During machining processes, materials undergo severe deformations that lead to different behavior than in the case of slow deformation. The microstructure changes, as a consequence, affect the materials properties and therefore influence the functionality of the component. Developing material models capable of capturing such changes is therefore critical to better understand the interaction process–materials. In this paper, we introduce a new physics model associating Mechanical Threshold Stress (MTS) with Dislocation Density (DD) models. The modeling and the experimental results of a series of large strain experiments on polycrystalline copper (OFHC) involving sequences of shear deformation and strain rate (varying from quasi-static to dynamic) are very similar to those observed in processes such as machining. The Kocks–Mecking model, using the mechanical threshold stress as an internal state variable, correlates well with experimental results and strain rate jump experiments. This model was compared to the well-known Johnson–Cook model that showed some shortcomings in capturing the stain jump. The results show a high effect of rate sensitivity of strain hardening at large strains. Coupling the mechanical threshold stress dislocation density (MTS–DD), material models were implemented in the Abaqus/Explicit FE code. The model shows potentialities in predicting an increase in dislocation density and a reduction in cell size. It could ideally be used in the modeling of machining processes. 相似文献
