In order to efficiently produce poly(ethylene naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate) (PEN) fibers comprising α-phase crystallites with a high melting temperature, a direct high-speed spin-drawing (HSSD) system was implemented. The higher-order structure of the HSSD PEN fibers was investigated by focusing on the radial anisotropy of the fibers. A nucleating agent was added to the PEN fibers, and its effect on the formation of the higher-order structure was also studied. Highly crystalline PEN fibers predominantly composed of α-phase crystallites were produced by operating the HSSD system at 4?km/min. The PEN fibers exhibited a melting temperature of 288.8?°C and a storage modulus of 31.4?GPa. The excellent thermal stability of the HSSD PEN fibers was presumably brought about by the formation of a shish-kebab-like structure. The generation of the shish-kebab-like structure and radial anisotropy seemed to be more dependent on the effect of tensile stress during the drawing process rather than from the nucleating additive. The nucleating agent used in this study effectively increased both the α- and β-phase crystallite sizes. Such structural modification, however, did not appear to contribute to the thermal stability enhancement of the PEN fibers.  相似文献

This paper presents an experimental investigation on the compression behavior of fiber‐reinforced sandwich composites. In this study, five different types of sandwich composites were prepared with warp knitted spacer fabric as middle layer. Four different types of woven Kevlar fabric structures were used as outer layers (skin) along with one sample of woven basalt fabric. The middle layer used is 100% polyester spacer fabric. Sandwich composites were fabricated using epoxy resin by wet lay‐up method under vacuum bagging technique. Compression behavior, ball burst, and knife penetration were tested for all samples. The effect of outer layer of these composites on the mechanical performance was studied using the compression stress‐strain curves. It is known that spacers have excellent compression elasticity and cushioning. Maximum knife penetration resistance is obtained with twill weave on surface because of maximum yarn cohesion and resin impregnation. Higher amount of cohesive friction results in higher resistance against penetration of sharp objects like the knife edge. Plain and twill fabrics offer sufficient resistance again ball burst. The yarn deformation allows formation of dome shape after ball impact. Maximum impact resistance in ball burst is obtained for plain weave because of highest level of interyarn binding. The results provide new understanding of knitted spacer fabric‐based sandwich composites under compression and impact loading condition.  相似文献

对适用于长杆弹在混凝土介质中侵彻和爆炸全过程的三维数值模拟方法和技术进行了研究。描述了进行相应数值模拟的有关方法和关键技术。确定了靶体C30混凝土材料所使用的本构模型及其相应的参数。对卵形头长杆弹在C30混凝土中侵彻到一定深度再爆炸的全物理过程进行了三维数值模拟,分别给出了C30混凝土靶体在侵彻和爆炸作用下的破坏效应图像。将侵彻计算图像与实验结果进行了比较,两者定性符合。  相似文献

This paper examines the influence of gravity on the bulk responses of a granular solid. The loading scenarios in this study include confined compression, rod penetration into a granular medium and discharging through an orifice. Similar loading and flow conditions are likely to be encountered in the stress and deformation regimes that regoliths are subjected to in extraterrestrial exploration activities including in situ resource utilisation processes. Both spherical and non-spherical particles were studied using the discrete element method (DEM). Whilst DEM is increasingly used to model granular solids, careful validations of the simulation outcomes are rather rare. Thus in addition to exploring the effect of gravity, this paper also compares DEM simulations with experiments under terrestrial condition to verify whether DEM can produce satisfactory predictions.The terrestrial experiments were conducted with great care and simulated closely using DEM. The key mechanical and geometrical properties for the particles were measured in laboratory tests for use in the DEM simulations. A series of DEM computations were then performed under reduced gravity to simulate these experiments under extraterrestrial environment. It was found that gravity has no noticeable effect on the force transmission in the confined compression case; the loading gradient in the rod penetration is linearly proportional to the gravity; the mass flow rate in silo discharge is proportional to square root of the gravity and the angle of repose increases with reducing gravity. These findings are in agreement with expectation and existing scientific evidence.  相似文献

The structure of the interface of an argonlike fluid in equilibrium with its vapor near the triple point is studied using Monte Carlo simulation. By referring particle coordinates to the capillary waves and calculating the transverse structure factor in that reference frame, one can determine the penetration depth of the capillary waves into the bulk as a function of the wave vector. The penetration depth of the lowest capillary mode is consistent with the interfacial thickness as determined from the intrinsic density profile, and the data for the higher modes suggest that the penetration depth might be independent ofk.  相似文献

A digital technique for high-speed visualization of vibration, called videokymography, was developed and applied to the vocal folds. The system uses a modified video camera able to work in two modes: high-speed (nearly 8,000 images/s) and standard (50 images/s in CCIR norm). In the high-speed mode, the camera selects one active horizontal line (transverse to the glottis) from the whole laryngeal image. The successive line images are presented in real time on a commercial TV monitor, filling each video frame from top to bottom. The system makes it possible to observe left-right asymmetries, open quotient, propagation of mucosal waves, movement of the upper and, in the closing phase, the lower margins of the vocal folds, etc. The technique is suitable for further processing and quantification of recorded vibration.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the non-linear binding effects upon the diffusion–migration test. For the diffusion test we derive the conditions required for the non-linear binding isotherm to produce an actual penetration front. When more than two ion species are present we show that the diffusion coefficient associated with a particular ion cannot be extracted from the diffusion test on account of multi-species electrical effects. In the migration test where an external electrical field is applied to the sample, we give the conditions required for the propagation of a stable travelling wave. In addition new explicit expressions of the time-lag are obtained for both tests, allowing the determination of the properties of the unknown binding isotherm whatever its physical nature. Throughout the paper the results and the method are illustrated by the diffusion of the Cl ion within cement-based materials, using experimental data extracted from literature. The theoretical predictions compare well to these experimental data.  相似文献

本文用一种新的时间序列差分干涉术研究模型在超音速风洞中产生的激波流场.实.验中用调Q序列脉冲红宝石激光器作光源,用转镜扫描高速摄影机作为记录设备,结合单Wollaston棱镜差分干涉的方法获得了激波流场的序列差分干涉图.利用图象处理技术对干涉图进行图象处理,人机交互的方式采集数据,用条纹位移转换法将差分干涉图的条纹位移量转换为绝对干涉图的条纹位移量,然后用拉普拉斯变换法计算出了密度的相对分布值.  相似文献

This Note presents ways to improve the weld penetration potential of TIG process by optimising silica application around the joints in a plain carbon steel and an aluminium alloy 5086. Whereas for plain carbon steels, full coverage of joint improves penetration, the presence of a blank zone around the joint in the flux coating on aluminium 5086 using AC-TIG seems to be the best solution for cosmetic and deep welds. This paper is concerned with optimal flight trajectories in the presence of windshear. The penetration landing problem is considered with reference to flight in a vertical plane, governed by either one control (the angle of attack, if the power setting is predetermined) or two controls (the angle of attack and the power setting). Inequality constraints are imposed on the angle of attack, the power setting, and their time derivatives.The performance index being minimized measures the deviation of the flight trajectory from a nominal trajectory. In turn, the nominal trajectory includes two parts: the approach part, in which the slope is constant; and the flare part, in which the slope is a linear function of the horizontal distance. In the optimization process, the time is free; the absolute path inclination at touchdown is specified; the touchdown velocity is subject to upper and lower bounds; and the touchdown distance is subject to upper and lower bounds.Three power setting schemes are investigated: (S1) maximum power setting; (S2) constant power setting; and (S3) control power setting. In Scheme (S1), it is assumed that, immediately after the windshear onset, the power setting is increased at a constant time rate until maximum power setting is reached; afterward, the power setting is held constant; in this scheme, the only control is the angle of attack. In Scheme (S2), it is assumed that the power setting is held at a constant value, equal to the prewindshear value; in this scheme, the only control is the angle of attack. In Scheme (S3), the power setting is regarded as a control, just as the angle of attack.Under the above conditions, the optimal control problem is solved by means of the primal sequential gradient-restoration algorithm (PSGRA). Numerical results are obtained for several combinations of windshear intensities and initial altitudes. The main conclusions are given below with reference to strong-to-severe windshears.In Scheme (S1), the touchdown requirements can be satisfied for relatively low initial altitudes, while they cannot be satisfied for relatively high initial altitudes; the major inconvenient is excess of velocity at touchdown. In Scheme (S2), the touchdown requirements cannot be satisfied, regardless of the initial altitude; the major inconvenient is defect of horizontal distance at touchdown.In Scheme (S3), the touchdown requirements can be satisfied, and the optimal trajectories exhibit the following characteristics: (i) the angle of attack has an initial decrease, which is followed by a gradual, sustained increase; the largest value of the angle of attack is attained near the end of the shear; in the aftershear region, the angle of attack decreases gradually; (ii) initially, the power setting increases rapidly until maximum power setting is reached; then, maximum power setting is maintained in the shear region; in the aftershear region, the power setting decreases gradually; (iii) the relative velocity decreases in the shear region and increases in the aftershear region; the point of minimum velocity occurs at the end of the shear; and (iv) depending on the windshear intensity and the initial altitude, the deviations of the flight trajectory from the nominal trajectory can be considerable in the shear region; however, these deviations become small in the aftershear region, and the optimal flight trajectory recovers the nominal trajectory.A comparison is shown between the optimal trajectories of Scheme (S3) and the trajectories arising from alternative guidance schemes, such as fixed controls (fixed angle of attack, coupled with fixed power setting) and autoland (angle of attack controlled via path inclination signals, coupled with power setting controlled via velocity signals). The superiority of the optimal trajectories of Scheme (S3) is shown in terms of the ability to meet the path inclination, velocity, and distance requirements at touchdown.
