In the present paper, the analytical solution for a radially piezoelectric functionally graded rotating hollow shaft is presented. The variation of material properties is assumed to follow a power law along the radial direction of the shaft. Two resulting fully coupled differential equations in terms of the displacement and electric potential are solved directly. Numerical results for different shaft geometries with different profiles of inhomogeneity are also graphically displayed.  相似文献

Elastic solutions for axisymmetric rotating disks made of functionally graded material with variable thickness are presented. The material properties and disk thickness profile are assumed to be represented by two power-law distributions. In the case of hollow disk, based on the form of the power-law distribution for the mechanical properties of the constituent components and the thickness profile function, both analytical and semi-analytical solutions are given under free–free and fixed-free boundary conditions. For the solid disk, only semi-analytical solution is presented. The effects of the material grading index and the geometry of the disk on the stresses and displacements are investigated. It is found that a functionally graded rotating disk with parabolic or hyperbolic convergent thickness profile has smaller stresses and displacements compared with that of uniform thickness. It is seen that the maximum radial stress for the solid functionally graded disk with parabolic thickness profile is not at the centre like uniform thickness disk. Results of this paper suggest that a rotating functionally graded disk with parabolic concave or hyperbolic convergent thickness profile can be more efficient than the one with uniform thickness.  相似文献

Thermal postbuckling analysis and the axisymmetric static and dynamic snap-through phenomena due to static/sudden uniform lateral pressure in a thermally postbuckled functionally graded material circular plate are performed in this research. Plate is formulated using the first order shear deformation plate theory. Thermo-mechanical properties of the plate are assumed to be temperature dependent where dependency is described according to the higher order Touloukian representation. Two types of temperature loading are considered. Uniform temperature rise and heat conduction across the thickness direction. The one dimensional heat conduction equation in the thickness direction is obtained and discreted via the central finite difference method. The obtained system of equations is nonlinear since the thermal conductivity itself is a function of the unknown nodal temperatures. Using the von-Kármán assumptions, the governing equations of the plate are obtained in a matrix representation with the aid of the conventional Ritz method whose shape functions are developed using the Gram-Schmidt process. At first thermal postbuckling analysis is performed which is a nonlinear problem with respect to both temperature and displacements. Afterwards, response of the bulged thermally postbuckled plate is obtained under the static and dynamic uniform pressure. Snap-through phenomenon may be observed in both static and dynamic loading cases, due to the immovability of the edge of the plate and the initial deflection caused by postbuckling deflection. To capture the snapping phenomenon and trace the path beyond the limit loads, cylindrical arch-length technique is used. In dynamic snap-through analysis, the effect of structural damping is also included. Numerical results of this study reveal that the structure is sensitive to the initial deflection caused by thermal postbuckling load. Increasing the temperature prior to mechanical loads enhances the snap-through intensity and also increases both the upper and lower limit loads. As shown, dynamic snap-through loads are lower than the static ones, however dynamic snap-through intensity is more than the static snap-though intensity. Furthermore, structural damping enhances the dynamic buckling loads of the plate and decreases the dynamic postbuckling deflection of the plate.  相似文献

The unified formulations of finite cylindrical layer methods (FCLMs) based on the Reissner mixed variational theorem (RMVT) and the principle of virtual displacements (PVD) are developed for the three-dimensional (3D) linear buckling analysis of simply-supported, multilayered functionally graded material (FGM) circular hollow cylinders and laminated composite ones under axial compression. The material properties of the FGM layer are assumed to obey the power-law distributions of the volume fraction of the constituents through the thickness coordinate. In these formulations, the cylinder is divided into a number of finite cylindrical layers, in which the trigonometric functions and Lagrange polynomials are used to interpolate the in- and out-of-surface variations of the primary variables of each individual layer, respectively, as well as the related order of each primary variable can be freely chosen, such as the layerwise linear, quadratic or cubic function distribution through the thickness coordinate. The accuracy and convergence of the RMVT- and PVD-based FCLMs developed in this article are assessed by comparing their solutions with the exact 3D solutions available in the literature.  相似文献

This paper considers a functionally graded cantilever beam with different modulus in tension and compression. The beam is subjected to bending loads, including pure bending, shear force at the free end and uniform pressure on the upper lateral, respectively. Its modulus values in tension and compression both change with the thickness coordinate as arbitrary functions, which could bring the beam a broader range of applications in engineering. The problem is treated as a plane stress case and described by Airy stress function. By using semi-inverse method, the elastic solutions for the beam are obtained, which can be easily degenerated into the ones for homogeneous beams. An example is finally presented to show the effect of nonhomogeneous materials with different modulus on the elastic field in a cantilever beam.  相似文献

Consider the thermal fracture problem of a functionally graded coating-substrate structure of finite thickness with a partially insulated interface crack subjected to thermal-mechanical supply. A new model is proposed that the heat conduction through the crack region occurs and the temperature drop across the crack surfaces is the result of the thermal resistance. For the first time, real fundamental solutions are derived for the fracture analysis of functionally graded materials. The complicated mixed boundary problems of equations of heat conduction and elasticity are converted analytically into singular integral equations, which are solved numerically. The asymptotic expressions with higher order terms for the singular integral kernels are considered to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the numerical integration. Explicit expressions of various failure modes including stress intensity factors, energy release rate and strain energy density, are provided. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the effects of non-homogeneity parameters and the dimensionless thermal resistance on the temperature distribution along the crack surfaces and extended crack line, the thermal stress intensity factors and minimum strain energy density.  相似文献
