This paper reports a convergent numerical algorithm for the Upper-Convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid between two eccentric cylinders at various eccentricity ratios (?); the outer cylinder is stationary, and the inner one rotating. The problem is solved by an unstructured control volume method (UCV), which is designed for a general viscoelastic flow problem with an arbitrary computational domain. A self-consistent false diffusion technique and an iteration scheme are used in combination to solve the problem. The computations of the UCM fluid using the numerical algorithm are carried out to a higher value of the Deborah number (De) at each eccentricity tested than hitherto possible with previous numerical simulations. The solutions are compared with previous numerical results, confirming the effectiveness of the UCV method as a general technique for solving viscoelastic flow problems. 相似文献

It is well known from a lot of experimental data that fluid forces acting on two tandem circular cylinders are quite different from those acting on a single circular cylinder. Therefore, we first present numerical results for fluid forces acting on two tandem circular cylinders, which are mounted at various spacings in a smooth flow, and second we present numerical results for flow-induced vibrations of the upstream circular cylinder in the tandem arrangement. The two circular cylinders are arranged at close spacing in a flow field. The upstream circular cylinder is elastically placed by damper-spring systems and moves in both the in-line and cross-flow directions. In such models, each circular cylinder is assumed as a rigid body. On the other hand, we do not introduce a turbulent model such as the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) or Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) models into the numerical scheme to compute the fluid flow. Our numerical procedure to capture the flow-induced vibration phenomena of the upstream circular cylinder is treated as a fluid-structure interaction problem in which the ideas of weak coupling is taken into consideration. 相似文献

Vortex-induced vibrations of two mechanically coupled circular cylinders with asymmetrical stiffness in side-by-side arrangements are numerically investigated in a uniform flow at a low Reynolds number of 100. The oscillation system is restricted to the cross-flow direction, giving rise to a coupled two-degree-of-freedom response. Attention is placed on the two cylinders with a center-to-center gap ratio of 4 and a mass ratio of 10. The flow dynamics are described by the two-dimensional incompressible Navier–Stokes equations and resolved by the Characteristic-Based-Split finite element method. The stiffness of the first spring that connects the lower cylinder to the wall is chosen such that the vortex-induced vibration of the associated single cylinder with the same stiffness undergoes a pre-synchronization (state A), synchronization (state B) and post-synchronization (state C), respectively. In each state, the stiffness of the second spring connecting the lower and upper cylinders is varied to cover both synchronization and de-synchronization regimes. Numerical results show that the mechanically coupled system locks on the first-mode natural frequency in state A, while on the second-mode natural frequency in states B and C. In such a lock-in regime, the amplitude ratios of the two oscillating and coupled cylinders collapse well onto the corresponding first or second free-vibration mode. The overall coupling mechanism is further explained in terms of the hydrodynamic coefficients, frequency characteristics, wake patterns and effective added mass, quantifying the associated fluid-structure interactions against those governing a single-degree-of-freedom, single-cylinder system. 相似文献

应用二阶全展开ETG有限元离散格式与大涡模拟相结合的方法,对间距比为1.5情况下的并列双方柱绕流进行了数值模拟.由王小华、何钟怡提出的二阶全展开ETG有限元方法通过对N-S方程中的时变项进行Taylor展开,从而把时间导数用空间导数来代替,其作用相当于引入了人工粘性.计算得到了不同时刻的流线图,给出了两方柱的阻力系数、升力系数以及两对称点上流向速度随时间的变化历程,并采用谱分析的方法研究了对称边界条件下并列双方柱绕流的频谱对称性问题.为了消除初始条件的影响,在所取样本中去除了计算中初始段的数据,分别分析了阻力系数、升力系数以及两对称点上流向速度的频谱.结果表明:对称边界条件下,双方柱绕流运动参量的时域过程虽然是不对称的,但频域过程却是对称的. 相似文献

对分离式热管的整体热量传递特性进行了实验研究。以蛇形翅片管作为冷凝段和蒸发段进行热管实验,探讨了蒸发器进风面风温及分离式热管蒸发器与冷凝器之间高度差、工质充注量对分离式热管的影响。实验表明,随着蒸发器进风温度的升高,蒸发器与冷凝器换热系数都是呈现先增大后减小的趋势。在冷凝端进风温度恒定为16.55℃、蒸发端进风温度低于60℃时,以R600A为工质的分离式热管的传热量曲线近似于二次曲线,蒸发端进风温度高于60℃时,其传热量曲线近似于一条直线。加大充液率及增加蒸发器与冷凝器的高度差,分离式热管的传热能力均会得到提高。 相似文献

The flow around tapered cylinders can act as basic models for numerous bluff body flows with a spanwise variation of either the body shape or the inflow conditions. The well-known vortex street is influenced by strong three-dimensional effects from the spanwise variation of the shedding frequency, namely oblique vortex shedding and vortex dislocations. Stereo-PIV was chosen to study these phenomena, since it allows analyzing planes with the full three-component, instantaneous velocity fields and local, time-dependent variations in the same setting. Hence, detailed aspects of the vortex dislocation phenomenon are presented. Single vortex dislocation events are presented through the local variation of the three measured velocity components u, v and w. Longer time-series reveal both period and location of these dislocation events, as well as quantity and sizes of the cells of constant shedding velocity in between them. The influence of the Reynolds number and the cylinder aspect ratio on the vortex cells could be shown. The analysis of the vortex shedding behavior shows good agreement with previously published results. At the same time, the applied PIV technique provides more spatial information than point-based measurements and offers insight into a Reynolds number range that is currently out of reach of Direct Numerical Simulations. 相似文献
