A priori estimates and existence of positive solutions for strongly nonlinear problems

In this paper we study the existence of positive solutions for a nonlinear Dirichlet problem involving the m-Laplacian. The nonlinearity considered depends on the first derivatives; in such case, variational methods cannot be applied. So, we make use of topological methods to prove the existence of solutions. We combine a blow-up argument and a Liouville-type theorem to obtain a priori estimates. Some Harnack-type inequalities which are needed in our reasonings are also proved.     

Cauchy problems for linear thermoelastic systems of type III in one space variable

The goal of the paper is to analyse properties of solutions for linear thermoelastic systems of type III in one space variable. Our approach does not use energy methods, it bases on a special diagonalization procedure which is different in different parts of the phase space. This procedure allows to derive explicit representations of solutions. These representations help to prove results for well‐posedness of the Cauchy problem, L^P–L^q decay estimates on the conjugate line and results for propagation of singularities. 美式期权定价中非局部问题的有限元方法

在本文中 ,我们关心的是美式期权的有限元方法 .首先 ,根据 [4 ]我们对所讨论的问题引进一个新奇的实用的方法 ,它涉及到对原问题重新形成准确的数学公式 ,使得数值解的计算可以在非常小的区域上进行 ,从而该算法计算速度快精度高 .进而 ,我们利用超逼近分析技术得到了有限元解关于 L2 -模的最优估计 .     

Existence of global strong solution to the micropolar fluid system in a bounded domain

In this paper we are concerned with the initial boundary value problem of the micropolar fluid system in a three dimensional bounded domain. We study the resolvent problem of the linearized equations and prove the generation of analytic semigroup and its time decay estimates. In particular, L^p–L^q type estimates are obtained. By use of the L^p–L^q estimates for the semigroup, we prove the existence theorem of global in time solution to the original nonlinear problem for small initial data. Furthermore, we study the magneto‐micropolar fluid system in the final section. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Reply to “Comment on papers by K. Shanahan that propose to explain anomalous heat generated by cold fusion”, E. Storms, Thermochim. Acta, 2006

Dr. E. Storms has published a Letter [E. Storms, Comment on papers by K. Shanahan that propose to explain anomalous heat generated by cold fusion, Thermochim. Acta, 2006] in which he argues that in a sequence of recent papers, the apparent excess heat signal claimed by Dr. Shanahan to arise from a calibration constant shift is actually true excess heat. In particular he proposes that the mechanisms proposed that foster the proposed calibration constant shifts cannot occur as postulated for several reasons. As well, he proposes Shanahan has ignored the extant data proving this. Because this Letter may lend unwarranted support to acceptance of cold fusion claims, these erroneous arguments used by Storms need to be answered.

本文采用协整与误差修正模型技术研究了上海市电力需求的决定因素,建立了上海电力需求函数,检验了电力需求与国内生产总值、电力价格、经济结构、电力使用效率之间的长期均衡关系及短期波动关系。

本文针对一类非饱和土壤水流问题,提出了基于二次插值的特征差分格式,得到了严谨的L2模误差估计.并作了数值试验,指明方法的有效性.

Theoretical and numerical analysis on multispectral bioluminescence tomography

Recently, molecular imaging has been rapidly developed to studyphysiological and pathological processes in vivo at the cellularand molecular levels. Among molecular imaging modalities, opticalimaging has attracted a major attention for its unique advantages.In this paper, we establish a mathematical framework for multispectralbioluminescence tomography (BLT) that allows simultaneous studiesof multiple optical reporters. We show solution existence, uniquenessand continuous dependence on data as well as the limiting behaviourswhen the regularization parameter approaches zero or when thepenalty parameter approaches infinity. Then, we propose twonumerical schemes for multispectral BLT and derive error estimatesfor the corresponding solutions.     

Error estimation,adaptivity and data transfer in enriched plasticity continua to analysis of shear band localization

In this paper, an adaptive FE analysis is presented based on error estimation, adaptive mesh refinement and data transfer for enriched plasticity continua in the modelling of strain localization. As the classical continuum models suffer from pathological mesh-dependence in the strain softening models, the governing equations are regularized by adding rotational degrees-of-freedom to the conventional degrees-of-freedom. Adaptive strategy using element elongation is applied to compute the distribution of required element size using the estimated error distribution. Once a new mesh is generated, state variables and history-dependent variables are mapped from the old finite element mesh to the new one. In order to transfer the history-dependent variables from the old to new mesh, the values of internal variables available at Gauss point are first projected at nodes of old mesh, then the values of the old nodes are transferred to the nodes of new mesh and finally, the values at Gauss points of new elements are determined with respect to nodal values of the new mesh. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed model and computational algorithms is demonstrated by several numerical examples.
