Selected photoluminescence in the wavelength range of 600-1540 nm is generated by energy transfer from a light-gathering mesostructured host lattice to an appropriate rare earth ion. The mesoporous titania thin films, which have a well-ordered pore structure and two-phase walls made of amorphous titania and TiO2 nanocrystallites, were doped with up to 8 mol% lanthanide ions, and the ordered structure of the material was preserved. Exciting the titania in its band gap results in energy transfer and it is possible to observe photoluminescence from the crystal field states of the rare earth ions. This process is successful for certain rare earth ions (Sm3+, Eu3+, Yb3+, Nd3+, Er3+) and not for others (Tb3+, Tm3+). A mechanism has been proposed to explain this phenomenon, which involves energy transfer through surface states on titania nanocrystals to matching electronic states on the rare earth ions.  相似文献

Three-component molecular systems (redox active subunit)-spacer-(light-emitting fragment) can operate as fluorescence switches, following the alternate addition of an oxidizing agent and a reducing agent (or the adjustment of the potential of the working electrode in an electrolysis experiment). The redox active subunit typically consists of a metal centred redox couple (M(n+1)+/Mn+), encircled by a macrocyclic receptor, and switching efficiency requires that one of the two oxidation states quenches the proximate fluorophore and the other does not. Four ON/OFF systems, based on either the CuII/CuI or NiIII/NiII couple, will be discussed. The nature of the quenching process responsible for the OFF state, either electron transfer or energy transfer, is related to the length and to the flexibility-rigidity of the spacer.  相似文献

CO2 reduction processes continue to be developed for electrosynthesis, energy storage applications, and environmental remediation. A number of promising materials have shown high activity and selectivity to target reduction products. However, the progress has been mainly at a small laboratory scale, and the technical challenges of large scale CO2 reduction have not been considered adequately. This review covers recent advancements in catalyst materials and cell designs. The leading materials for CO2 reduction to a number of useful products are presented with their corresponding cell and reactor designs. The latest efforts to progress to industrially relevant scales are discussed, along with the challenges that must be met for carbon dioxide reduction to be a viable route for mass scale production.  相似文献

Two sufficient criteria for the convergence of the Rayleigh-Ritz Method (RRM) with respect to the eigenvalues (E-convergence) of non-relativistic electronic Hamiltonians of molecules are discussed and compared. Moreover, a necessary and sufficient criterion is given. By example (Sect. 9) it is shown that the L 2-completeness of the basis is not sufficient to guarantee E-convergence. The convergence of the wave functions in different norms (-convergence) is also investigated. In particular, sufficient conditions for the one-particle basis functions (orbitals) are given, such that a CI calculation in this basis is both E- and -convergent.  相似文献

The lanthanides with their well-defined energy levels provide an excellent basis to study different Ln(III)-specific energy transfer processes in a variety of chemical environments. The studies concerning intramolecular and intermolecular energy transfer processes with participation of Ln(III) ions and a variety of ligand groups in solution are reviewed. Phenomena of energy transfer from ligands to Ln(III) ions, resulting consequently in a great enhancement of the Ln(III) ion luminescence (ligand sensitized luminescence), as well as from Ln(III) to other species and between Ln(III) ions are presented.  相似文献

The synthesis, optical properties, electrochemical properties, electronic structures and applications in electroluminescent device of three series of 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives, 1,4-bis[(4-methylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl]phenylene (OXD1), 5,5′-di-(4-methyl)-2,2′-p-(2,5-bisalkoxyphenylene)-bis-1,3,4-oxadiazole (OXD2–n) and 1,4-bis[(4-alkoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl]phenylene (OXD3–n) are reported. The molecular structures of the oxadiazole compounds were confirmed by FT-IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The optical and electrochemical properties of the compounds were investigated by UV–vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy as well as cyclic voltammetry. The results show that introduction of two alkoxy groups whose electron-donating ability is stronger than that of methyl groups increases the electron density of the conjugated segment of OXD2–n (with side-on alkoxy substituents) and OXD3–n (with end-on alkoxy substituents), and thus leads to the absorption maximum bathochromic-shift compared to that of OXD1. The HOMO and LUMO energy levels of the compounds studied are in the range of −2.78 to −2.89 and −5.75 to −6.20 eV. Calculations on the representative compounds by the Dmol3 package of MS Modeling 3.0 revealed that the increase of energy levels in both OXD2–n and OXD3–n was due to the change of the frontier molecular orbital distribution in the central benzene ring. The light-emitting devices have been fabricated using blends of MEH-PPV and these compounds as emissive layers, among which, maximum brightness up to 11810 cd m−2 (8.5 V) has been observed, which is 40 times brighter than that with MEH-PPV. The result of the devices suggested that oxadiazole derivatives studied function well as electron-transporting materials and can be used in LEDs, and thus to enhance the efficiency of LEDs.  相似文献

Coordination of the 6-methyl-2-(2-pyridyl)-benzimidazole ligand with actinide and lanthanide species can produce enhanced emission due to increased efficiency of intramolecular energy transfer to metal centers. A comparison between the curium and terbium systems indicates that the position of the ligand's triplet state is critical for the enhanced emission. The energy gap between the ligand's triplet state and the acceptor level in curium is about 1000 cm−1, as compared to a ~600 cm−1 gap in the terbium system. Due to the larger gap, the back transfer with curium is reduced and the radiative yield is significantly higher. The quantum yield for this “sensitized” emission increases to 6.2%, compared to the 0.26% value attained for the metal centered excitation prior to ligand addition. In the terbium case, the smaller donor/acceptor gap enhances back transfer and the energy transfer is less efficient than with the curium system.  相似文献

The results from the measurement of the fluorescence spectrum showing the binding characteristics of acridine orange (AO) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) are reported. It was found that the equilibrium constant k=4848.64 l mol−1, and the number of binding sites n=0.82. Based on the mechanism of the Forster energy transference, the transfer efficiency of energy and distance between the acceptor AO and BSA were found. The interaction between AO and BSA have been verified as consistent with the static quenching procedure and the quenching mechanism is related to the energy transfer.  相似文献
