The criteria for the onset of thermocapillary convection in a horizontal radiating fluid layer heated by an incident thermal radiative energy source are determined. The fluid layer is an absorbing and isotropically scattering medium confined between a free upper surface and an insulated rigid lower surface. Linear analysis is performed on the continuity, momentum, energy, and approximate radiative equations. The resulting disturbance equations are solved using a numerical optimization technique to obtain the eigenvalues governing the onset of convective motion. The influence of thermal radiation on the critical Marangoni number is examined. Attention is drawn to the physical significance of the heat transfer mode, gravitational force, the scattering effect, and the surface radiative properties. The conditions leading to the onset of convection are presented as functions of the optical thickness, scattering albedo, Planck number, surface emissivities, and transmissivities. 相似文献

采用液压高精度材料试验机考察了平面-球面接触GCr15钢摩擦副在海水、酸性水和洁净水等3种不同水介质润滑下的微动磨损性能.用激光扫描显微镜(LSM)观察了磨痕表面形貌.结果表明:3种水介质对钢-钢摩擦副具有明显的润滑作用,其中酸性水的润滑作用最明显;磨损体积损失同介质的润滑作用和腐蚀作用相关,在洁净水和海水介质润滑下的磨损体积损失较小,在酸性水介质润滑下的磨损体积损失较大;在海水润滑下的GCr15钢磨损表面呈现明显的点蚀特征. 相似文献

Various versions of representations of the percolation Reynolds number for porous media with isotropic and anisotropic flow properties are considered. The formulas are derived and the variants are analyzed with reference to model porous media with a periodic microstructure formed by systems of capillaries and packings consisting of spheres of constant diameter (ideal and fictitious porous media, respectively). A generalization of the Kozeny formula is given for determining the capillary diameter in an ideal porous medium equivalent to a fictitious medium with respect to permeability and porosity and it is shown that the capillary diameter is nonuniquely determined. Relations for recalculating values of the Reynolds number determined by means of formulas proposed earlier are given and it is shown that taking the microstructure of porous media into account, as proposed in [1, 2], makes it possible to explain the large scatter of the numerical values of the Reynolds number in processing the experimental data. 相似文献

This paper analyzes a transient, nonlinear deep drawing process where a circular blank of a rigid-plastic material is forced by a rigid circular punch to deform into a cylindrical cup. Attention is focused on the plastic flow beneath the blank-holder. Using the Cosserat theory of a generalized membrane it is possible to obtain analytical solutions which examine the following two major effects: (a) the importance of added “rim pressure” acting on the outer edge of the blank; and (b) the importance of a controlled moveable blank-holder to allow blank thickening during the drawing process. Guided by these analytical results, a new deep drawing machine was built to exploit these effects and increase the limit drawing ratio (LDR) of the drawing process. Specifically, the LDR (in one stroke) reached the value of 3.16 compared with the value of about 2.0 in the conventional process. Moreover, the analytical prediction of the punch force versus the punch stroke is in good agreement with the experimental data and with simulations using the computer code DYTRAN. 相似文献

Recently, there appeared in this journal a short review article by Müller ((2002), 14: 227–229), in which it was argued that
the internal energy of a reacting mixture of liquid crystals should not be an objective quantity (i.e., a quantity independent
of the referential frame). Such a paradoxical conclusion has revealed the urging necessity for a better comprehension of the
interactions taking place in structured mixtures, specially when referred to non-inertial observers. This work shows that
Müller's paradox is avoided when all inertial effects are carefully accounted for. Further, it predicts interesting phenomena
without analogue in reacting mixtures of structureless fluids: internal inertial effects, produced by a combination of mass exchanges (e.g. by chemical reactions or phase changes) with the extra degrees of freedom
posed by the microstructure. Such effects clarify the reasons why inertial forces and couples acting on a mixture do not always
coincide with the sum of the inertial forces and couples exerted upon its individual constituents. The present conclusions
establish a reinterpretation of some fundamental concepts of continuum mechanics and thermodynamics, including a deeper understanding
of the manner in which total energy and momenta are conserved in complex media.
