The smoke is often generated in the battlefield by the smoke ammunition to protect the personnel and equipment against the enemy's optoelectronic systems. The effective extinction cross section is an important parameter of the infrared smoke ammunition. In this paper, the relationships between the effective extinction cross section of a cloud of spherical smoke and the mass of the smoke agent, the radius of the screening smoke and the mass extinction coefficient are discussed. The expressions of the maximal effective extinction cross section is derived. This research will help us to achieve optimal design of the smoke ammunition and to appropriately evaluate the effectiveness of the smoke. Examples are given for two kinds of obscurants. 相似文献

Electroluminescent porous Si (PS) diodes exhibit various useful functions under a high-electric field. The experimental PS diodes are composed of thin semitransparent metal films, PS layers (about 500 nm thick in minimum), p- or n-type Si substrates and ohmic back contacts. Definite nonlinear electrical behavior (negative resistance and nonvolatile bistable memory effects) and cold electron emission phenomena appear in these PS diodes associated with the EL emission. Both the negative resistance and memory effects are related to the charging of Si nanocrystallites by field-induced carrier injection. The electron emission observed in the PS diodes formed on n+–Si substrates is caused by hot electrons tunnelling through the top contact. By an appropriate structural control of PS, the effective drift length under a high-field conduction is significantly increased, and then electrons are emitted ballistically. These functions reflect the activity of PS as a nanocrystalline confined system. 相似文献

The issue of water flow through the root zone of field crops represents a complex problem requiring knowledge of a large spectrum
of phenomena from various disciplines. Although many investigations have been devoted to gain better understanding of water
dynamics in the root zone, the problem is still insufficiently understood. The main objective of the presented work was to
analyze the importance of root water resistivity in the plant water extraction process. The problem was solved numerically
for a wide range of the soil–root conductivity ratio (SRCR). Two different types of root water uptake (RWU) mechanisms were
obtained. The first one is related to low root resistivity or low SRCR, and, thus, exhibits a so-called “moving uptake front”
(MUF) effect observed previously in several experimental studies. The second one is inherent in large values of root resistivity
or high values of SRCR (larger than 104), and is strongly dependent on the root density distribution.

We present the results of a new experiment with our multicell set-up implemented with mass spectrometric measurements of4He and a highly improved neutron detector. The excess heat measured is comparable with the results of other laboratories, but no neutrons were found and the tritium excess was lower than expected from the power excess. 4He has been measured in the electrolysis gases and a tentative correlation of 4He with excess power is presented and discussed. 相似文献
