A formal analogy of fluctuating diffusivity to thermodynamics is discussed for messenger RNA molecules fluorescently fused to a protein in living cells. Regarding the average value of the fluctuating diffusivity of such RNA-protein particles as the analog of the internal energy, the analogs of the quantity of heat and work are identified. The Clausius-like inequality is shown to hold for the entropy associated with diffusivity fluctuations, which plays a role analogous to the thermodynamic entropy, and the analog of the quantity of heat. The change of the statistical fluctuation distribution is also examined from a geometric perspective. The present discussions may contribute to a deeper understanding of the fluctuating diffusivity in view of the laws of thermodynamics. 相似文献

The aim of present study was to investigate the characteristic drying behaviour of bread with the convective drying method for increasing bread shelf life. Effective moisture diffusivity and activation energy were compared in detail. According to the results, bread samples were dried between 0 and 450 min for 40 °C, 0–180 min for 50 °C and 60 °C, respectively. The experimental data with high coefficient of determination (R2) changed between 0.889 and 0.998. The values of Deff were obtained between 1.21 × 10?9-1.22 × 10?8 m2/s. Also, Ea values were found to be in range of 82.47–100.49 kJ/mol for bread samples which had additive-free and additive. When the bread samples without additives and the breads with essential oils were compared, it was found that the activation energy increased with the use of additives. Moisture content values decreased with the increase in time. Drying rate and moisture content relation showed the expected behaviour, thermally and morphologically. 相似文献

Inspired by the unique structure and function of the natural chloride channel (ClC) selectivity filter, we present herein the design of a ClC-type single channel molecule. This channel displays high ion transport activity with half-maximal effective concentration, EC50, of 0.10 μM, or 0.075 mol % (channel molecule to lipid ratio), as determined by fluorescent analysis using lucigenin-encapsulated vesicles. Planar bilayer lipid membrane conductance measurements indicated an excellent Cl−/K+ selectivity with a permeability ratio P /P up to 12.31, which is comparable with the chloride selectivity of natural ClC proteins. Moreover, high anion/anion selectivity (P /P =66.21) and pH-dependent conductance and ion selectivity of the channel molecule were revealed. The ClC-like transport behavior is contributed by the cooperation of hydrogen bonding and anion–π interactions in the central macrocyclic skeleton, and by the existence of pH-responsive terminal phenylalanine residues. 相似文献

Trimethylsilyl chloride (TMSCl) is commonly used to “activate” metal(0) powders toward oxidative addition of organohalides, but knowledge of its mechanism remains limited by the inability to characterize chemical intermediates under reaction conditions. Here, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) overcomes these prior limitations and shows that TMSCl aids in solubilization of the organozinc intermediate from zinc(0) metal after oxidative addition, a previously unknown mechanistic role. This mechanistic role is in contrast to previously known roles for TMSCl before the oxidative addition step. To achieve this understanding, FLIM, a tool traditionally used in biology, is developed to characterize intermediates during a chemical reaction—thus revealing mechanistic steps that are unobservable without fluorescence lifetime data. These findings impact organometallic reagent synthesis and catalysis by providing a previously uncharacterized mechanistic role for a widely used activating agent, an understanding of which is suitable for revising activation models and for developing strategies to activate currently unreactive metals. 相似文献
