High-resolution single molecular near-field fluorescence images were observed by scanning near-field optical/atomic force microscopy (SNOM/AFM). We modified the SNOM/AFM for both high-resolution fluorescence imaging and high-resolution topographic imaging. The imaged fluorophore, Alexa 532, is prepared with a poly-methyl-methacrylate (PMMA) film coating. A fluorescence resolution of 25 nm was obtained with a simultaneous topographic image of a flat surface. A sample prepared with a lower PMMA concentration exhibited a rough surface in the micro area. The results for the flat surface indicated that the fluorescence resolution is worst in the rough surface sample, that the maximum fluorescence intensities for the individual fluorophore are similar, and that the decay rate is faster. Thus, we concluded that the morphological effect is an important factor in fluorescence image resolution and the apparent lifetimes of the fluorescence molecules.  相似文献

We have measured how the initial terrace width l0 on vicinal Si(1 1 1) surfaces influences the rate of step bunching and the minimum terrace width within a bunch when direct-current heated at 940-1290 °C. A comparison of this data with analytic solutions and numerical simulations of the conventional “sharp-step” model give strong evidence that the kinetic length d is relatively small (d < ∼20 nm) in both temperature regime I (∼850-950 °C) and regime III (∼1200-1300 °C), in which step-down current is required for step bunching. This indicates that surface mass transport is diffusion-limited in both regimes I and III when l0 > 20 nm, and hence that the adatom attachment- and terrace diffusion-hopping rates are of comparable magnitude. We also observe similar scaling with initial terrace width in temperature regime II (∼1040-1190 °C), in which step-up current is required for bunching, suggesting a similar step bunching mechanism in all three temperature regimes.  相似文献

The effect of the properties of PADC nuclear track detectors after exposure to high doses of gamma absorbed doses up to 5×105 Gray (50 Mrad) were studied. The gamma source was a 9.03 PBq (244 KCi), Co-60 source. Results indicate that each of the bulk etch rate (Vb), the tracks etch rate (Vt) and the sensitivity (V) of the detectors increases with the high gamma absorbed dose, but there is a drop in these parameters at the low gamma absorbed dose. Signs of surface roughness were observed by increasing the gamma absorbed doses and changes in color observed for doses larger than 2×105 Gray. The temperature of detectors during irradiation time reached 41°C. The fission fragment tracks (from Cf-252 source) disappeared quickly within the etching time (minutes) for total absorbed doses greater than 3×105 Gray due to their high bulk etch rate.  相似文献

We present a multi-scale Monte Carlo study of the oxidation of the Cu(1 0 0) surface based on the Bortz-Kalos-Lebowitz model with the equilibrium energetics obtained from ab initio calculations. The radial and island size distribution functions are examined and Cu-O structures are analyzed at different temperatures and coverages. We concentrate on the coverages of 0.3 monolayer O or less, with variable sub-monolayer coverages of Cu. The results show that even though the ab initio calculations yield a higher barrier for O than for Cu adatom diffusion on Cu(1 0 0), the stability of Cu structures causes the O adatoms to be more mobile on the Cu(1 0 0) surface than the Cu adatoms. We are able to reproduce the c(2 × 2)-O domains seen in the experiments. However, we give an alternative explanation based on the repulsive interactions of O that, on one hand, cause the local ordering and, on the other hand, prohibits large well-ordered domains. We also give interpretation on the formation of the R45°-O reconstruction of Cu(1 0 0) above the O coverages of 0.3 monolayer based on the ab initio energetics.  相似文献

Summary The numerical treatment of a 3-d frictionless normal contact of rough bodies made of a linear–elastic, isotropic material is considered. First, the governing equations and their discretized forms are presented. Due to the order of the problem, the computation time rapidly increases with the grid refinement. Therefore, common computer programs have to be limited to 50×50 contact points. Several numerical techniques (multigrid, iterative solver, distributive relaxation) are used. Cell-centered grid transformation is applied and grid operators have been established for this purpose. In order to handle upto 1000 × 1000 cells the program CON3D has been developed.  相似文献

This paper reports an experimental investigation of open channel turbulent flow over hemispherical ribs. A row of ribs consists of hemispheres closely placed to one another in the spanwise direction and cover the entire span of the channel. The pitch-to-height ratio is varied to achieve the so-called d-type, intermediate and k-type roughness. The Reynolds numbers based on water depth, h, and momentum thickness, θ, of the approach flow are respectively, Reh = 28,100 and Reθ = 1800. A particle image velocimetry is used to obtain detailed velocity measurements in and above the cavity. Streamlines, mean velocity and time-averaged turbulent statistics are used to study the effects of pitch-to-height ratio on the flow characteristics and also to document similarities and differences between the present work and prior studies over two-dimensional transverse rods. It was observed that interaction between the outer flow and the shear layers generated by ribs is strongest for k-type and least for d-type ribs. The results also show that hemispherical ribs are less effective in augmenting flow resistance compared to two-dimensional transverse ribs. The levels of the Reynolds stresses and budget terms increase with increasing pitch-to-height ratio inside the roughness sublayer.  相似文献

Contact angle is known to be a parameter that effects boiling. This study was undertaken to measure contact angle of high and low surface tension fluids on copper and aluminum surfaces.Data were taken for polished, oxidized, and rough surfaces. A simple, yet fairly accurate method of measuring the static equilibrium contact angle of a solid/liquid interface is presented. The principles of a line light source and tilting plate were modified and then combined in the design of this apparatus. The angles obtained and their variation with the solid surface properties were in good agreement with previously published data. The contact angle of distilled water o of the organic fluids and refrigerants tested were in the range of 2–5°. Roughness and oxidation reduce the contact angle. If the depth of the roughness is less than 0.5 μm contact angle. The apparatus is fairly simple in construction, is inexpensive, and has good reproductibity. The measured angles were then compared to those measured with the sessile drop method.  相似文献
