Lead zirconate titanate piezoelectric ceramics have important applications in space and aerospace technology, but the effect and physical mechanism of charged particle radiation on their performance yet to be clarified. In this study,we characterized PbZr_(0.52)Ti_(0.48)O_3(PZT) thin films, and changes in the ferroelectric properties of the films before and after electron and proton irradiation were investigated. The natural and heat treatment recoverability of the ferroelectric properties were studied, and the damages and mechanisms of different types of radiation in PZT films were also investigated.The results show that, in addition to ionization damages, electron irradiation causes certain structural damage on the PZT film, and the large structural damage caused by proton irradiation reduces drastically the ferroelectricity of the PZT film. 相似文献

We have studied the detailed mechanism of epitaxial strain induced ferroelectricity in rocksalt binary compound by ab initio calculation and soft mode group theory analysis. By applying compressive strain, cubic binary rocksalt (Fm3m) transforms into tetragonal (I4/mmm) structure. With increasing compressive strain, tetragonal structure becomes unstable against spontaneous transformation to lower symmetry tetragonal structure (I4/mm), evident both from ab initio calculation and from soft mode group theory analysis. For the tensile strain, phase transition sequence can be cubic binary rocksalt to tetragonal (I4/mmm) and to orthorhombic structure (Im2m). From ab initio calculation and space group analysis, we propose that the epitaxial strain induced ferroelectricity of rocksalt binary compound is the generic property. 相似文献

The electroactive properties of two random copolymers of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and hexafluoropropylene (HFP) were studied. The compositions were 95/5 and 85/15 mol % P(VDF/HFP). For each composition, three different film‐preparation methods were used—solvent casting, melt‐pressed quenched, and melt‐pressed slow‐cooled. The ferroelectric properties observed were strongly dependent on the preparation methods of the films as well as the HFP molar content of the samples. The highest remanent polarizations (Pr) obtained from electric displacement versus electric field (D‐E) hysteresis data are 80 and 50 mC/m2 for the 5 and 15% HFP solvent‐cast samples, respectively. The slow‐cooled samples do not exhibit any ferroelectric behavior for either the 5 or 15% HFP copolymers. It was also observed that both the 5 and 15% HFP slow‐cooled samples have a smaller electrostrictive response relative to the other two types of samples. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction and DSC results suggest that the 5% HFP sample has a higher crystallinity relative to the 15% HFP sample for each preparation method. In addition, different crystal phases form in the samples resulting from the different preparation methods. Fourier transform infrared results suggest that the slow‐cooled samples are in the nonpolar α phase, whereas the quenched and solvent‐cast samples are more likely in the polar β phase. Hexagonal YMnO3 has a ferroelectric property with an optimal remanent polarization along the c-axis. The c-axis oriented YMnO3 thin films with a small leakage current were prepared by the sol-gel dipping method. The c-axis orientation of the films was promoted by the addition of diethanolamine to the Mn precursor solution. A heat treatment with multiple steps led to a dense film structure with fine grains. The dense structure resulted in the decrease of the leakage current. Furthermore, when the films were heat-treated in a vacuum, the leakage current became considerably small and the ferroelectricity of the YMnO3 thin films was observed even at room temperature. 相似文献

Poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)/Na+‐MMT composites have been successfully prepared utilizing sodium montmorillonite (Na+‐MMT) via N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF) solution mixing. The dispersion of Na+‐MMT layers in composites were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X‐ray diffraction (XRD). The effect of adding Na+‐MMT on crystallization behavior of PVDF was specifically studied. The β‐crystalline nucleation effect of Na+‐MMT was investigated and confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), XRD, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) results. The interaction between PVDF and the surface of Na+‐MMT layers in DMF solution was confirmed by UV‐Vis absorbency. The effect of adding Na+‐MMT on rheological and electrical properties of PVDF/Na+‐MMT composites were also determined. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effects of electron irradiation on the molecular chemical structure, conformation, mobility, and phase transition of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and trifluoroethylene (TrFE) copolymer have been investigated with variable‐temperature, solid‐state 19F nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). It has been found that electron irradiation converts all‐trans conformations of both VDF‐rich and TrFE‐containing segments into dynamically mixed trans–gauche conformations accompanied by a simultaneous ferroelectric‐to‐paraelectric (or amorphous) transition. The variable‐temperature 19F magic‐angle‐spinning spectra results show that the paraelectric phase melts at much lower temperatures in irradiated films than in an unirradiated sample. Moreover, 19F NMR relaxation data (spin–lattice relaxation times in both the laboratory and rotating frames) reveal that electron irradiation enhances the molecular motion in paraelectric regions, whereas the molecular motion in a high‐temperature amorphous melt (>100 °C) is more constrained in irradiated films. In this paper we report synthesis of phase-pure highly resistive magnetoelectric BiFeO3 thin films on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate by using pulsed laser deposition technique. For the first time saturated ferroelectric hysteresis loop has been
observed. It has confirmed the presence of ferroelectricity in BiFeO3 compound. The films exhibit dielectric anomaly near Neel temperature. This anomaly is related to the influence of vanishing

Conjugated polymers consisting of pyrrole or an N‐substituted pyrrole bridged by methine with a mesogenic group were synthesized. Chemical structures of the products were confirmed with IR, NMR, UV–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy, and gel permeation chromatography analysis. Liquid crystallinity was examined with differential scanning calorimetry measurements and polarizing optical microscopy observations. Liquid crystal domains of the polymer were macroscopically oriented in one direction by an external magnetic force (10 Tesla). The polymer orientation was confirmed by optical microscopy and X‐ray analysis. One of the polymers exhibited a striated fan‐shaped texture when observed with a polarizing optical microscope. This is attributed to the formation of a chiral smectic C (SmC*) phase, which is a property of ferroelectricity.
