MCRs reshaped into a switchable microwave-assisted protocol toward 5-aminoimidazoles and dihydrotriazines

A tunable microwave-assisted protocol for the synthesis of two biologically relevant families of heterocycles has been designed. Via a simple switch of reaction conditions, the same starting materials can be engaged in either an improved synthesis of the dihydrotriazine scaffold or a novel, first-in-class MCR to render the challenging 5-aminoimidazole nucleus in a single step. An additional first-in-class MCR is also reported utilizing guanidines to afford 2,5-aminoimidazoles.     

Rice-husk-supported FeCl3 nano-particles: Introduction of a mild,efficient and reusable catalyst for some of the multi-component reactions

Rice-husk-supported FeCl₃ nano-particles (FeCl₃–RiH) were prepared and used as an environmentally friendly catalyst in the synthesis of β-amino carbonyl compounds, 1,8-dioxo-octahydro xanthenes, and bis-indolyl methanes from simple and readily available precursor molecules.     

TRANSITION METAL,NON-METAL CARBONYL CLUSTRS AS SUPPORTS FOR UNUSUAL ACETYLIDE REACTIVITY

Group 16 elements serve as useful bridging and stabilising single atom ligands in mixed-metal carbonyl complexes and impart unusual reactivity on coordinated acetylenic moieties. Reactions of [Fe ₃ (CO) ₉ (μ ₃ -E) ₂ ] (E = S, or Se) with mononuclear acetylide complexes, [CpM(CO)_3-x(CCR)] (M = Mo or W, x = 0, R = Ph; M = Fe, x = 1, R = Ph or ferrocenyl) under facile conditions yield complexes featuring acetylide coupling, acetylide-flip and formation of oxo and acetylide-bridged complexes. In presence of free acetylenes, unusual ligand systems arising from C─S bond formation are observed and under certain conditions, formation of quinones by coupling of acetylenes with carbon monoxide is facilitated.     

Syntheses of 1,5-Benzothiazepines-Part XXXI: Syntheses and Antimicrobial Studies of 10-Substituted-7- (monochlorophenyl/dichlorophenyl)-6H-6a,7-dihydro-6-phenyl[1]benzopyrano[3,4-c]-[1,5]benzothiazepines

Abstract

Two flavindogenides, 3-(2-chlorobenzylidene)-flavanone and 3-(2,4-dichloro- benzylidene)-flavanone reacted with six 5-substituted-2-aminobenzenethiols, the substituents being fluoro, chloro, bromo, methyl, methoxyl, and ethoxyl, to give respective 12 new compounds, 10-substituted-7-(2-chlorophenyl/2,4-dichlorophenyl)- 6H-6a,7-dihydro-6-phenyl[1]benzopyrano[3,4?c][1,5]benzothiazepines (5a–l) in 60–70% yields. The products were characterized on the basis of microanalytical data for elements and IR, ¹ H, and ¹³ C NMR and mass spectral studies. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against the bacteria,Escherichia coli and GFC,and the fungi,Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus,and Curvularia lunata.     

THE REACTION OF O-SILYLATED α-KETOLS WITH TRIMETHYLSILYL CYANIDE

Abstract

The reactions of a series of O-silylated α-ketols with trimethylsilyl cyanide have been investigated. Formation of the expected 0-trimethylsilyl cyanohydrins as major products has been shown to be accompanied by the hitherto unsuspected formation of a disiloxane by a proposed intramolecular S_N2 displacement mechanism. The latter reaction is, surprisingly, independent of the substitution pattern in the silylated ketol. Formation of the side-product, however, increases in all cases with increasing dilution. The α,β-epoxynitrile 9, a second side-product expected, along with the observed disiloxane, by our proposed mechanism was synthesized by an unambiguous route. A control experiment showed the epoxynitrile to be completely destroyed under the usual conditions of reaction with trimethylsilyl cyanide. ¹³C NMR data have been obtained for most of the compounds in this study.     

EFFICIENT CONVERSION OF TETRAHYDROPYRANYL (THP) ETHERS TO THEIR CORRESPONDING CYANIDES WITH TRIPHENYLPHOSPHINE/2,3-DICHLORO- 5,6-DICYANOBENZOQUINONE/n-Bu4 NCN

Tetrahydropyranyl ethers were converted to their corresponding alkyl cyanides efficiently by using the triphenylphosphine/ 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenoquinone/n-Bu ₄ NCN system in refluxing acetonitrile with good-to-excellent yields.     

Room-Temperature Bismuth-Catalyzed Bis-arylation of Carbonyl Compounds with Aryl Ethers and Phenols

Using Bi2（SO4）3 as the catalyst and TMSCl as the additive, a wide variety of aldehydes, ketones, and acetals were smoothly condensed with aryl ethers at room temperature to provide the corresponding diarylmethanes and triarylmethanes selectively in good to excellent yields.     

基于两个取代四甲基环戊二烯基配体的金属羰基化合物的合成及晶体结构

配体[C₅Me₄HR][R=4-BrPh(1),(MeC₅H₃N)CH₂(2)]分别与Mo(CO)₆,Ru₃(CO)₁₂和Fe(CO)₅在二甲苯中加热回流,得到了6个双核配合物trans-[η⁵-C₅Me₄R]₂Mo₂(CO)₆(3,4),trans-[(η⁵-C₅Me₄R)Ru(CO)(μ-CO)]₂(5,6)和trans-[η⁵-(C₅Me₄R)Fe(CO)(μ-CO)]₂(7,8,).通过元素分析、红外光谱、核磁共振氢谱对配合物的结构进行了表征,并用X-射线单晶衍射法测定了配合物3,5,6和8的结构.     

One pot synthesis of unsymmetrical dihydropyridines by green,catalyst free and environmentally benign protocol

Abstract

A facile and ecofriendly synthesis of β-enamino esters is reported by reaction of both aliphatic and aromatic amines with β-keto esters by refluxing in ethanol in absence of any catalyst. Addition of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes to the reaction mixture leads to the formation of unsymmetrical dihydropyridine derivatives which generally are metal free hydrogen sources for asymmetric reduction reactions.     

Removal of carbonyl sulfide from CO2 stream using AgNO3-modified NaZSM-5

Removal of carbonyl sulfide (COS) from CO₂ stream is significant for the production and utilization of food grade CO₂. This study investigates the adsorption performance of Ag/NaZSM-5 as adsorbent prepared by incipient wetness impregnation for the removal of COS from a CO₂ stream in a fixed-bed adsorption apparatus. Effects of various conditions on the preparation of adsorbent, adsorption and desorption were intensively examined. The results revealed that COS can be removed to below 1×10^?9 from a CO₂ stream (1000 ppm COS/CO₂) using Ag/NaZSM-5 (10 wt% AgNO₃) with an adsorption capacity of 12.86 mg-g^?1. The adsorbent can be fully regenerated using hot air at 450 °C. The adsorption ability remained stable even after eight cycles of regeneration.
