Clays as selective catalysts in organic synthesis

Suitably modified smectite clays can be very selective catalysts for a wide range of organic reactions. While it has long been known that such materials can act as Bronsted and Lewis acids, it has been shown recently that they are also effective Diels-Alder catalysts. A selection of illustrative reactions is given which emphasises their wide range of use, their selectivity, and the ease of work-up after reaction. In each case, mechanistic information is presented, e.g., on the site of reaction (whether interlayer or surface), rate determining steps, etc. The regiochemical consequences of the restricted reaction space are stressed.Based on material presented at the Fourth International Symposium on Inclusion Phenomena and the Third International Symposium on Cyclodextrins, Lancaster, U.K., 20–25 July 1986.     

固体超强酸SO_4~(2-)/SiO_2-TiO_2催化合成异维生素C钠

在异维生素C钠(D-VcNa)的合成过程中,以SO42-/S iO2-TiO2复合固体超强酸作为酯化反应催化剂,2-酮基-D-葡萄糖酸(2-KGA)和甲醇为原料,采用精馏脱水酯化工艺,不断除去酯化过程中产生的水。催化剂的最佳焙烧温度为550℃,催化剂用量为2.5%;反应时间3~4 h,产品收率为88.6%,催化剂的重复使用性较好,催化体系优于硫酸法。     

Synthesis and Characterization of Dual Acidic Ionic Liquids

Novel ionic liquids with dual acidity, of which the cation contains Brφnsted acidity and anions contain Lewis acidity were synthesized. These ionic liquids obtained were identified by NMR, FF-IR, SDT and FAB-MS. Their acidities were determined by pyridine probe on IR spectrography.

以1，3-二硫杂环戊烯-2-硒酮-4，5-二硫盐为配体与二价金属离子配位合成了4种双(1，3-二硫杂环戊烯-2-硒酮-4，5-二硫)金属配合物，研究了它们的电化学性质和UV—Vis光谱，并讨论了形成中性产物的原因。     

Solid Phase Synthesis of 4H-Pyrimido[2,1-b] Benzothiazol-4-ones from Resin-Bound Cyclic Malonic Ester

The solid phase synthesis of 4H-pyrimido[2,1-6] benzothizaol-4-ones has been reported.     

A Systematic Study of the Use of DL-Tartaric Acid in the Synthesis of Silica Materials Obtained by the Sol-Gel Method

DL-tartaric acid was used as a template for the formation of silica nanotubes and spheres by the sol-gel method from tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as silica source. The reactions were carried out in ethanol/water mixtures in the presence of aqueous ammonia, between 0°C and 75°C, using both stirred and non-stirred conditions. TEM and SEM images show that the yield and microstructure of the silica is influenced by the synthetic conditions (temperature, ammonia (aq) concentration, gelation time, solvent mixture). It was observed that the chiral form of the tartaric acid used and the diffusion of TEOS to the template determines the eventual silica structure.     

Synthesis of new peptidic glycoclusters derived from β-alanine

The synthesis of an asymmetric glycocluster 1 has been achieved by coupling of a sugar unit with the β-alanine polypeptide, the principal chain, and combining a carbohydrate chain with the side chain causing it to branch from the N terminal. The synthesis of this side chain multivalent ligands is based on the scaffolding of some ω-amino acid (glycine, β-alanine, and GABA) derivatives. This method facilitated the synthesis of the cluster, of which the length of each unit differs.     

Aligning Text and Phonemes for Speech Technology Applications Using an EM-Like Algorithm

A common requirement in speech technology is to align two different symbolic representations of the same linguistic ‘message’. For instance, we often need to align letters of words listed in a dictionary with the corresponding phonemes specifying their pronunciation. As dictionaries become ever bigger, manual alignment becomes less and less tenable yet automatic alignment is a hard problem for a language like English. In this paper, we describe the use of a form of the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm to learn alignments of English text and phonemes, starting from a variety of initializations. We use the British English Example Pronunciation (BEEP) dictionary of almost 200,000 words in this work. The quality of alignment is difficult to determine quantitatively since no ‘gold standard’ correct alignment exists. We evaluate the success of our algorithm indirectly from the performance of a pronunciation by analogy system using the aligned dictionary data as a knowledge base for inferring pronunciations. We find excellent performance—the best so far reported in the literature. There is very little dependence on the start point for alignment, indicating that the EM search space is strongly convex. Since the aligned BEEP dictionary is a potentially valuable resource, it is made freely available for research use.     

对氟苯甲醛水杨酰腙镍(II)配合物的合成、表征及其晶体结构

A nickel(II) complex Ni(C₁₄H₁₀N₂O₂F)₂ was synthesized from p-fluorobenzaldehyde salicylhydrazone and Ni(CH₃COO)₂·4H₂O and crystallized by diffusion, the structure of which was characterized by IR spectrum, ¹H NMR, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The complex crystallizes in monoclinic space group C2/c with a=2.460 6(2) nm, b=0.774 1(1) nm, c=1.534 9(1) nm, β=122.300(1)°, and V=2.471 1(4), Z=8, D_c=1.541 g·cm^-3. We reported the IR, ¹H NMR, crystal structure. CCDC: 638652.     

Stereospecific syntheses of sex pheromones of the californian red scale and white peach scale (Homoptera:Diaspididae) based on 1,4-cis-hydrogenation of dienes

Stereospecific syntheses of (±)-3-methyl-6-isopropenyl-3(Z),9-decadien-1-yl acetate and (±)-3,9-dimethyl-6-isopropenyl-3(Z),9-decadien-1-yl propionate (the Racemoc forms of the pheromones of the scalesAonidiella aurantii andPseudaulascaspis pentagona) with a geometrical purity of the (Z)-trisubstituted double bond not lower than 99 % were performed. The key step in both syntheses was the 1,4-cis-hydrogenation of the corresponding ethyl 3-methyl-6-(1, 1-ethylenedioxyethyl)-2,4,9-decatrienoates catalyzed with chromium carbonyl complexes. These 2,4-dienes were obtained in five conventional steps including the alkylation of ethyl acetoacetate by the appropriate 1-bromo-3-butenes and the Horner-Emmons olefination of the corresponding -branched aldehydes.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk.
