Hierarchical Structure‐Within‐Structure Morphologies in A2‐star‐(B‐alt‐C) Molecules

We employ dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) to examine the self‐assembly behavior of A₂‐star‐(B‐alt‐C) molecules. We successfully observe various types of hierarchical structure‐within‐structures, such as A‐formed spheres in the matrix formed by B and C alternating layers, hexagonally packed A‐formed cylinders in the matrix with B and C segregated layers, B and C alternating layers‐within‐lamellae, coaxial B and C alternating domains within hexagonally packed BC‐formed cylinders in the A‐matrix, and co‐centric BC‐alternating domains within BC‐formed spheres in the A‐matrix, by increasing the A composition. Generally speaking, the small length‐scale B and C segregated domains are in parallel to the large length‐scale structures. This hierarchical periodicity along the same axis as well as the various characteristic structures, that the A₂‐star‐(B‐alt‐C) copolymers display, are quite different from those in A‐block‐(B‐graft‐C) coil‐comb copolymers. Moreover, it is interesting to find that when the copolymer chain length increases, though the hierarchical structure type is maintained, the number of small length‐scale lamellae that can form within the large length‐scale structure increases. These hierarchical structures under various compositions are reported theoretically for the first time in the copolymer systems consisting of the alternating blocks, and are in good agreement with the most recent experimental work by Matsushita and co‐workers (Macromolecules 2007 , 40, 4023).

Analysis to obtain precise density fluctuation of supercritical fluids by small-angle X-ray scattering

A procedure of analysis for small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) data has been established to obtain density fluctuation of supercritical fluids near the critical point. It is indispensable for the certain analysis to utilize both of high-quality SAXS data measured under stable thermodynamic condition and accurate P–ρ–T data in supercritical region. As a standard example, SAXS measurements have been performed for supercritical CO₂, which is a suitable sample satisfying the condition for both experiment and analysis. The measurements were carried out along four isothermal conditions at reduced temperature of T_r = T/T_c = 1.020, 1.022, 1.043 and 1.064. Comparing the experimental density fluctuation with calculated one from the most reliable equation of state, the differences are within 8% at most.     

Untersuchungen des Hydroxylammonium-Fluorogallats

Summary Crystals of (NH₃OH)₃GaF₆ have been isolated from aqueous solution. The compound crystallizes triclinic, with cell parametersa=6.539(5) Å,b=6.924(5) Å,c=9.403(1) Å, =87.01(9)°, =83.98(8)°, =70.28(8)°. The thermal decomposition was studied by TG and DSC analysis.

Synthesis of 1,2,4-substituted hexahydropyridazines and X-ray structural investigation of 4-hydroxyimino-2-methyl-1-phenethylhexahydropyridazine

A series of new 1,2,4-substituted hexahydropyridazines was prepared in order to evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the role and influence of substituents on the biological activity of this system. An X-ray structural investigation of 4-hydroxyimino-2-methyl-1-phenethylhexahydropyridazine was performed. Crystal structure of the 2:1 acetonitrile complex of 18-crown-6

Single crystal X-ray analysis of the 2:1 acetonitrile complex of 18-crown-6 is reported. Crystals of the complex are monoclinic,P2₁/n, witha=9.123(3),b=8.524(3),c=13.676(4) Å, =104.68(3)°, andD _c =1.118 g cm^–3 forZ=2. The complex lies on a center of symmetry, with the crown in theD _3d conformation. Methyl groups of the acetonitrile molecules have weak interactions with the crown oxygen atoms, and are tilted 31.7° from the host's threefold axis. Methyl hydrogen atoms are rotationally disordered about the acetonitrile axis.
