We show that, ifu is apriori assumed to be bounded, thenu is smooth in , up to (ifu | is smooth). This is a partial (positive) answer to a conjecture of S. Hildebrandt [13]. As an application, we establish a regularity result for weak solutions to the equation of surfaces of prescribed mean curvature in a three-dimensional compact riemannian manifold.  相似文献

Summary The concept of hull convexity (midpoint hull convexity) for set-valued functions in vector spaces is examined. This concept, introduced by A. V. Fiacco and J. Kyparisis (Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications,43 (1986), 95–126), is weaker than one of convexity (midpoint convexity).The main result is a sufficient condition for a midpoint hull convex set-valued function to be continuous. This theorem improves a result obtained by K. Nikodem (Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Mathematics,34 (1986), 393–399).  相似文献

There is a new method of constructing generalized quadrangles (GQs) given by S. Löwe, which is based on covering of nets; all GQs with a regular point can be represented in this way. Here we give a method of constructing GQs with a regular point using the so-called content functions on nets. In the last part of the paper we lay the foundations for a research project aiming to use the more general notion of content to classify GQs and maybe to construct new ones.Both authors acknowledge the financial support by CRUI and DAAD in the frame of Programma Vigoni, which made this work possible.  相似文献

This paper studies the growth function, with respect to the generating set of edge identifications, of a surface group with fundamental domainD in the hyperbolic plane ann-gon whose angles alternate between /p and /q. The possibilities ofn,p andq for which a torsion-free surface group can have such a fundamental polygon are classified, and the growth functions are computed. Conditions are given for which the denominator of the growth function is a product of cyclotomic polynomials and a Salem polynomial.This work was supported in part by NSF Research Grants.  相似文献

Summary Consider a one-dimensional walk (S k ) k having steps of bounded size, and weight the probability of the path with some factor 1–(0,1) for every single self-intersection up to timen. We prove thatS n /S S converges towards some deterministic number called the effective drift of the self-repellent walk. Furthermore, this drift is shown to tend to the basic drift as tends to 0 and, as tends to 1, to the self-avoiding walk's drift which is introduced in [10].
