Synthesis,complexation, and photochemistry of benzobisthiazole-based bis(crown ether)

Benzobisthiazole-based bis(crown ether) was synthesized and its complexation with alkali and alkaline earth cations was studied. Photochemical transformations of the free ligand and its complexes with alkaline earth cations involve E,Z-photoisomerization and [2+2] photocycloaddition. Dedicated to Academician N. S. C9‐Iridoids from Scrophularia buergeriana

Four new iridoids, buergerinins B–E ( 1 – 4 ), along with three known iridoids, were isolated from the roots of Scrophularia buergeriana. Their structures were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.     

Comparison of Boolean algebras

In this work, some results related to superatomic Boolean interval algebras are presented, and proved in a topological way. Let x be an uncountable cardinal. To each I x, we can associate a superatomic interval Boolean algebra B _I of cardinality x in such a way that the following properties are equivalent: (i) I I x, (ii) B _I is a quotient algebra of B _J, and (iii) there is an homomorphism f from B _J into B _I such that for every atom b of B _I, there is an atom a of B _J satisfying f(a)=b. As a corollary, there are 2 ^x isomorphism types of superatomic interval Boolean algebras of cardinality x. This case is quite different from the countable one.     

秦岭龙胆的化学成分

从秦岭龙胆(Gentiana apiata N.E.Br.)全草的乙醇提取物中分离得到4个化合物,通过波谱分析分别鉴定为异荭草甙(isoorientin),龙胆苦甙(gentiopicroside),asystasioside A和蔗糖(D-sucrose).采用二维NMR分析,确定了asystasioside A的立体结构.以上化合物均为首次从该植物中发现.     

Prediction of the binding site of 1-benzyl-4-[(5,6-dimethoxy-1-indanon-2-yl)methyl]piperidine in acetylcholinesterase by docking studies with the SYSDOC program

Summary In the preceding paper we reported on a docking study with the SYSDOC program for predicting the binding sites of huperzine A in acetylcholinesterase (AChE) [Pang, Y.-P. and Kozikowski, A.P., J. Comput.-Aided Mol. Design, 8 (1994) 669]. Here we present a prediction of the binding sites of 1-benzyl-4-[(5,6-dimethoxy-1-indanon-2-yl)methyl]piperidine (E2020) in AChE by the same method. E2020 is one of the most potent and selective reversible inhibitors of AChE, and this molecule has puzzled researchers, partly due to its flexible structure, in understanding how it binds to AChE. Based on the results of docking 1320 different conformers of E2020 into 69 different conformers of AChE and on the pharmacological data reported for E2020 and its analogs, we predict that both the R- and the S-isomer of E2020 span the whole binding cavity of AChE, with the ammonium group interacting mainly with Trp⁸⁴, Phe³³⁰ and Asp⁷², the phenyl group interacting mainly with Trp⁸⁴ and Phe³³⁰, and the indanone moiety interacting mainly with Tyr⁷⁰ and Trp²⁷⁹. The topography of the calculated E2020 binding sites provides insights into understanding the high potency of E2020 in the inhibition of AChE and provides hints as to possible structural modifications for identifying improved AChE inhibitors as potential therapeutics for the palliative treatment of Alzheimer's disease.     

湿热证动物模型微量元素、维生素E变化及清香散的调节作用

采用多因素造模方法复制成湿热证动物模型，观察了动物模型微量元素Zn、Cu、Fe、Se和维生素E代谢水平的变化。结果显示，模型动物血清Zn下降（P＜0．05），Cu升高（P＜0．05或P＜0．01），Fe变化不大（P＞0．05），血Se水平下降（P＜0．05），血浆维生素E含量减少（P＜0．01）。经清热祛湿的经验方清香散治疗后，治疗I组动物血清Zn、血Se、血浆维生素E明显升高（P＜0．05），血清Cu下降（P＜0．05）；治疗Ⅱ组血浆血清Cu有变化（P＜0．05）外，其余变化不大。     

Thin-layer chromatographic separation of serotonin from epinephrine and norepinephrine

A thin-layer chromatographic procedure is reported for the separation of serotonin from epinephrine and norepinephrine. The method involves the use of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid-impregnated silica gel G plates and n-butanol-ethanol-acetic acid-water (8:2:1:3) as developer. Serotonin is well separated from both epinephrine and norepinephrine. Epinephrine and norepinephrine overlapped slightly but were both detectable. The procedure is thus applicable to the separation of all three biogenic amines in spite of the absence of an absolutely clear separation of epinephrine from norepinephrine.     

Two New ent-Kaurane Diterpenoids from Isodon xerophilus

Kottamide E, the first example of a natural product bearing the amino acid 4-amino-1,2-dithiolane-4-carboxylic acid (Adt)

Kottamide E, a novel alkaloid containing dibrominated indole enamide, oxalic acid diamide and 4-amino-1,2-dithiolane-4-carboxamide moieties, has been isolated from the New Zealand ascidian Pycnoclavella kottae. Characterisation was achieved by interpretation of spectroscopic data.
