Conductometric study of Bu4NClO4 in propylene carbonate-acetonitrile and propylene carbonate-toluene mixtures at 25°C

Conductometric measurements of tetrabutylammonium perchlorate in propylene carbonate-acetonitrile and propylene carbonate-toluene mixtures at 25°C are reported. Limiting molar conductances, association constants and distance of closest approach of ions are calculated. The experimental data were analyzed by means of the Lee-Wheaton equation. The Gilkerson's solvent-solute interaction energy term was calculated from a plot of association constant logarithmvs. reciprocal dielectric constant.     

From a monomer to a protein-sized, doughnut-shaped coordination oligomer-the influence of side chains of C3-symmetric ligands in supramolecular chemistry

Herein we describe the importance of side chains in C3-symmetric ligands in supramolecular chemistry. The reaction of the new ligand tris(5-bromo-2-methoxybenzylidene)triaminoguanidinium chloride [H3Me3Br3L]Cl (1) with ZnCl2 results in the formation of the monomeric complex (Et3NH)2[(ZnCl2)3Me3Br3L] (2), in which the ligand remains in a conformation less favourable for the coordination of metal centres. The use of the related tris(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)triaminoguanidinium chloride, [H6Br3L]Cl, under similar conditions, results in the formation of two different dimeric compounds (NH4)[{[Zn(NH3)]3Br3L}2{mu-(OH)}3]1/4MeOH (3) and [Zn{Zn2(OH2)3(NH3)Br3L}2] (4), depending on the solvent mixture used. The comparable reaction of the ligand tris(5-bromo-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)triaminoguanidinium chloride [H6(OMe)3Br3L]Cl (5), leads to the formation of a doughnut-shaped, protein-sized coordination oligomer (Et3NH)18[{Zn[Zn2Cl{(OMe)3Br3L}]2}6(mu-Cl)6(OH2)6]x CH3CN (6), which comprises six dimeric [Zn5{(OMe)3Br3L}2] units. Whereas 3 and 4 decompose in DMSO solution, 6 is surprisingly stable in the same solvent.     

Reaction of Alkanesulfinyl Chloride with Grignard Reagents： a Convenient Synthesis of Alkyl Sulfoxides

Alkyl sulfoxides were synthesized in good yields from the reaction of alkanesulfinyl chloride with Grignard reagents in the presence of zinc chloride.     

Synthesis of trimethylammoniumphenylthio-substituted phthalocyanines with different pattern of substitution

The base-catalyzed cyclotetramerization of 3-, 4- and 4,5-dimethylaminophenylthio phthalonitriles with zinc(II)acetate afforded 1(4),8(11),15(18),22(25)- and 2(3),9(10),16(17),23(24)-tetrasubstituted and 2,3,9,10,16,17,23,24-octasubstituted Zn(II)phthalocyanines, respectively. The statistical mixed condensation of the same phthalonitriles with 1,2-dicyanobenzene gave the corresponding mono- and disubstituted derivatives. Methylation of such products afforded a series of cationic Zn(II)phthalocyanines with different pattern of substitution, with potential use as photodynamic agents in microbial infections.     

Interaction of zinc finger ZNF191(243—368) and its I323 W and R327W mutants with oligonucleotides by florescence spectrum

Two mutants of the zinc finger protein, ZNF191 (243–368) I323W and R327W, are successfully obtained by site-directed mutagenesis. The fluorescence spectrum is used to study the interaction between these two mutants and the oligonucleotides. The influence of the mutation on the interaction has been studied using ethidium bromide (EB) as the fluorescence probe. The binding constants of the I323W-DNA and R327W-DNA have been calculated and the possible binding models have been discussed.     

ViscosityB-coefficients for lithium perchlorate in ethylene glycol-water mixtures

Viscosities and densities of lithium perchlorate solutions in different ethylene glycol-water compositions have been measured at 25.0 and 35.0 °C. From these data, the correspondingB-coefficients of theJones-Dole equation have been determined. TheB-value depends on the solvent composition and it reaches a maximum in the water-rich region. This behaviour is analysed in terms of ionic solvation and solvent structure.

Viskositäts-B-Koeffizienten für Lösungen von Lithiumperchlorat in Ethylenglykol-Wasser-Mischungen

Zusammenfassung Es wurden die Dichten und Viskositäten für Lösungen von Lithiumperchlorat in verschieden zusammengesetzten Ethylenglykol-Wasser-Mischungen bei 25 °C und 35 °C gemessen. Auf Grund der erhaltenen Daten wurden dieB-Koeffizienten in den entsprechendenJones-Dole-Gleichungen für die relative Viskosität bestimmt. DieB-Werte hängen von der Zusammensetzung des Lösungsmittels ab und erreichen im wasserreichen Konzentrationsgebiet ein Maximum. Dieses Verhalten wird in Hinblick auf die Ionensolvatation und die Struktur des Lösungsmittels analysiert.

     

Synthesis, structure and properties of delocalized transition metal chelates: Diazoketiminato chelates of Co(III) and Pt(II)

The reactions of HL 1 [where HL is 1N-(2-pyridyl-2-methyl)-2-arylazoaniline and is formulated as ArN = NC₆H₄N(H)(CH₂C₅H₄N); Ar = C₆H₅ (for HL¹) or p-MeC₆H₄ (for HL²) or p-ClC₆H₄ (for HL³)] with K₂PtCl₄ and Co(ClO₄)₃ · 6H₂O afforded the (L)PtCl and [(L)₂Co]ClO₄ complexes, respectively. The HL ligands bind the platinum(II) and cobalt(III) centres in a tridentate (N,N,N) fashion, forming new diazoketiminato chelates upon dissociating the amino proton. The X-ray structures of (L³)PtCl and [(L³)₂Co]ClO₄ were determined. Redox properties of the new complexes have been examined.     

Polyaniline films doped with zinc salts and their properties

It has been found that thin polyaniline films doped with several zinc salts in solutions at pH 5.5 become electroconductive and electroactive in neutral aqueous electrolytes. The shape of the voltammetric characteristics depends on the initial state of the film. The effect of secondary doping withm-cresol is observed for polyaniline complexes with zinc salt of camphorsulfonic acid.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk.
