条件期望与三变量独立性的两个充要条件

随机事件的独立性、随机变量的独立性是概率统计中的重要概念,不少学者都在这方面有所讨论.本文作者讨论了三维连续型随机变量（X,Y,Z）中三个分量X,Y,Z的相互独立性、条件独立性,得到三个引理.利用条件期望及三个引理作者给出了三变量相互独立的两个充要条件.     

Numerical modeling of transient two-dimensional viscoelastic waves

This paper deals with the numerical modeling of transient mechanical waves in linear viscoelastic solids. Dissipation mechanisms are described using the generalized Zener model. No time convolutions are required thanks to the introduction of memory variables that satisfy local-in-time differential equations. By appropriately choosing the relaxation parameters, it is possible to accurately describe a large range of materials, such as solids with constant quality factors. The evolution equations satisfied by the velocity, the stress, and the memory variables are written in the form of a first-order system of PDEs with a source term. This system is solved by splitting it into two parts: the propagative part is discretized explicitly, using a fourth-order ADER scheme on a Cartesian grid, and the diffusive part is then solved exactly. Jump conditions along the interfaces are discretized by applying an immersed interface method. Numerical experiments of wave propagation in viscoelastic and fluid media show the efficiency of this numerical modeling for dealing with challenging problems, such as multiple scattering configurations.     

Monogenic pseudo‐complex power functions and their applications

The use of a non‐commutative algebra in hypercomplex function theory requires a large variety of different representations of polynomials suitably adapted to the solution of different concrete problems. Naturally arises the question of their relationships and the advantages or disadvantages of different types of polynomials. In this sense, the present paper investigates the intrinsic relationship between two different types of monogenic Appell polynomials. Several authors payed attention to the construction of complete sets of monogenic Appell polynomials, orthogonal with respect to a certain inner product, and used them advantageously for the study of problems in 3D‐elasticity and other problems. Our goal is to show that, as consequence of the binomial nature of those generalized Appell polynomials, their inner structure is determined by interesting combinatorial relations in which the central binomial coefficients play a special role. As a byproduct of own interest, a Riordan–Sofo type binomial identity is also proved. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

关于两两NQD随机变量部分和强大数律的注记

In this paper, the authors study the strong law of large numbers for partial sums of pairwise negatively quadrant dependent （NQD） random variables. The results obtained improve the corresponding theorems of Hu et al. （2013）, and Qiu and Yang （2006） under some weaker conditions.     

Comments on “Statistical reasoning with set-valued information: Ontic vs. epistemic view” by Inés Couso and Didier Dubois

I discuss some aspects of the distinction between ontic and epistemic views of sets as representation of imprecise or incomplete information. In particular, I consider its implications on imprecise probability representations: credal sets and sets of desirable gambles. It is emphasized that the interpretation of the same mathematical object can be different depending on the point of view from which this element is considered. In the case of a fuzzy information on a random variable, it is possible to define a possibility distribution on the simplex of probability distributions. I add some comments about the properties of this possibility distribution.
