The canonical equilibrium measure of classical two-component Coulomb matter with regularized interactions is analyzed in a finite volume. It is shown that, in the mean-field regime, the one-particle density is inhomogeneous on a new characteristic length scale inh. For a system ofN positive andN negative particles, inh and the characteristic length scale of correlations corr (=Debye screening length) are related via inh=(2N)1/2 corr. The major conceptual conclusion that is drawn from this is that one needs two nontrivial complementary thermodynamic limits to define the equilibrium thermodynamics of two-component Coulomb systems. One of them is the standard thermodynamic limit (infinite volume), where one takesN, corr fixed. Its complementary limit is characterized byN, inh fixed, and is a finite-volume inhomogeneous mean-field limit. The most prominent new feature in the mean-field thermodynamic limit, which is absent in the standard thermodynamic limit, is an anomalous first-order phase transition where the Coulomb system explodes or implodes, respectively. We derive scaling forms for the thermodynamic and correlation quantities for the turn-weighted fully and partially directed self-avoiding walks on the hypercubic lattices ind2. A survey is given of recent experimental results obtained from high-temperature, high-pressure investigations with water, aqueous solutions, and ionic fluids. Data on the static dielectric constant of water to 550°C and 5 kbar are given and discussed with respect to their relation to water structure. Infrared and Raman spectra of HDO in pure water have been obtained to 400°C and 4 kbar, which give information on hydrogen bonding. Xe–H2O and CO2–H2O mixtures were investigated in the infrared. Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes were investigated by absorption spectroscopy in aqueous solutions of high chloride content to 350°C and 2–6 kbar. The gas-liquid critical point of ammonium chloride was found at 880°C and 1635 bars. This fluid appears to be predominantly ionic even in the critical region. We survey the rate conservation law, RCL for short, arising in queues and related stochastic models. RCL was recognized as one of the fundamental principles to get relationships between time and embedded averages such as the extended Little's formulaH=G, but we show that it has other applications. For example, RCL is one of the important techniques for deriving equilibrium equations for stochastic processes. It is shown that the various techniques, including Mecke's formula for a stationary random measure, can be formulated as RCL. For this purpose, we start with a new definition of the rate with respect to a random measure, and generalize RCL by using it. We further introduce the notion of quasi-expectation, which is a certain extension of the ordinary expectation, and derive RCL applicable to the sample average results. It means that the sample average formulas such asH=G can be obtained as the stationary RCL in the quasi-expectation framework. We also survey several extensions of RCL and discuss examples. It is shown that the existence of a closed convex set all of whose points are properly supported in a Banach space is equivalent to the existence of a certain type of uncountable ordered one-sided biorthogonal system. Under the continuum hypothesis, we deduce that this notion is weaker than the existence of an uncountable biorthogonal system.

This paper establishes a criterion for whether a -dimensional random walk on the integer lattice visits a space-time subset infinitely often or not. It is a precise analogue of Wiener's test for regularity of a boundary point with respect to the classical Dirichlet problem. The test obtained is applied to strengthen the harder half of Kolmogorov's test for the random walk.

The cloud point extraction behaviors of lanthanoids(III) (Ln(III) = La(III), Eu(III) and Lu(III)) with and without di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (HDEHP) using Triton X-100 were investigated. It was suggested that the extraction of Ln(III) into the surfactant-rich phase without added chelating agent was caused by the impurities contained in Triton X-100. The extraction percentage more than 91% for all Ln(III) metals was obtained using 3.0 × 10−5 mol dm−3 HDEHP and 2.0% (v/v) Triton X-100. From the equilibrium analysis, it was clarified that Ln(III) was extracted as Ln(DEHP)3 into the surfactant-rich phase. The extraction constant of Ln(III) with HDEHP and 2.0% (v/v) Triton X-100 were also obtained. 相似文献

A one-parameter family of partition functions is considered which for zero value of the parameter reduces to the spherical model of a ferromagnet. The model for > 0 is closer to the usual discrete lattice spin model of a ferromagnet than is the spherical model. The first four terms in of the limiting value of the partition function are calculated above and below the critical temperature for arbitrary interactions using the saddle point method to calculate certain correlation functions for the spherical model. Exact renormalization group equations are derived for a position-space renormalization of spin systems with weak long-range forces. It is shown how an apparent dependence of the critical exponents on the choice of the renormalization group can be resolved via the mechanism of dangerous irrelevant variables and that this same mechanism is responsible for the breakdown of hyperscaling.
