Four new groups of the di-fluoro-substituted 4-(2′-(or 3′)-fluoro phenylazo)-2-(or 3-) fluoro phenyl-4″-alkoxyphenylazo benzoates (InIVn) were prepared and investigated for their mesophase behaviour. An alkoxy group of variable chain length (n = 6, 10 and 14 carbons) is attached to the terminal phenylazo benzoate moiety, and two lateral fluoro substituents are attached individually with different orientations to the other two adjacent rings. The molecular structures of the prepared compounds were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The study aims to investigate the steric effect of the spatial orientation and relative positions of the two lateral fluorine atoms on the mesomorphic properties in their pure states. The mesophase behaviour was investigated via differential scanning calorimetry and mesophases were identified by polarised light microscopy. The investigation shows that these compounds exhibit high enantiotropic mesophases (SmC and N) and broad mesophase temperature range. The type and stability of the mesophase depends on the length of the terminal alkoxy chain and the position the two fluoro substituents. A comparison between these investigated compounds with their corresponding three-ring analogues was discussed.  相似文献

An extraction device has been investigated for the separation and preconcentration of a series of volatile organic compounds (CHCl3, CHCl2Br, CHClBr2 and CHBr3) in aqueous matrices. The device consisted of a microporous membrane system utilising a hollow fibre tube filled with organic solvent directly immersed into the sample solution. The hollow fibre containing 160 µL organic solvent was immersed in a glass vial with 10 mL capacity, and the extraction took place through diffusive transport between the aqueous sample and the small amount of solvent. For validation of the method, some operational conditions, such as extraction solvent, temperature, stirring rate and separation time, were optimised. Limit of detection was at low ppb levels, with GC-MS analysis under selected ion monitoring (SIM), whereas enrichment factors between 22 and 35 were obtained. Good reproducibility with RSDs between 7.2% and 9.8% and large linear dynamic ranges with R 2 between 0.996 and 0.998 were also achieved. In addition, the performance of the membrane assisted solvent extraction (MASE) system was compared with two existing configurations: a non-porous membrane separation device, as well as with a comparable microporous configuration. The comparison considered the extraction mechanism and the underlying transport processes. The application to real samples showed a good concordance with classical analytical methods.  相似文献

In this article, a new IR-sensing device is described for the examination of chlorinated aromatic compounds in soils. To prepare this sensing device, a 20-mL glass vial was modified for use in the analysis of soil samples by conventional Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. In this sampling device, an aluminium plate coated with a hydrophobic film was placed on top of the cap of the sample vial to absorb the analytes that evaporated from the soil matrix. After this absorption process was complete, the cap was placed in an FT-IR spectrometer, and the absorbed analytes were detected in the reflection–absorption (RA) mode. To accelerate the rate of evaporation of the analytes, the soil samples were heated to various temperatures. Meanwhile, other factors, such as the moisture content, sampling time, thickness of the hydrophobic film, and the volatilities and concentrations of the analytes, were also examined to optimize the analytical conditions. The results indicated that the time required to reach equilibrium conditions was short, and evaporation/absorption could be achieved within 10?min. With a water content of 10% (v/w) or less, the intensities of the analytical signals were increased greatly when compared with those of dry samples; when the water content was above 10% (v/w), these intensities decreased, partially as a result of the heating efficiency. After examining the compounds that had different vapour pressures, the analytical results indicated that this method was applicable to the examination of compounds that had vapour pressures below 1.0?Torr. Using the optimal conditions determined in this study, the detection limits for semivolatile aromatic compounds were lower than 100?ng/g, and the regression coefficients of the standard curves for compounds that had a vapour pressure lower than 1.0?Torr were larger than 0.99 in the concentration range of 1–100?µg/g.  相似文献

Abstract

A simple device for isolation of organic compounds from aqueous samples has been designed and its operating parameters tested during bioth periodic and continuous operation using isolation of organochlorine compounds as an example.

A stream of an aqueous sample is pumped at elevated temperature by a piston pump to an unit for expransion of the liquid phase surface, where the liquid is sprayed on the walls of the unit and flows down freely.

Organochlorine compounds passing to the gaseous phase are purged with a stream of purified air, oxidied and the chlorides formed are determined coulometrically. The designed device, due to its simplicity, can be built and employed in each averagely equipped laboratory.  相似文献

For the detection of unknown organic bromine compounds, a liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method with negative-ion electrospray ionization (NI-ESI) and induced in-source fragmentation (IISF) was established. After LC separation, the molecules are fragmentized in the source, and bromide is detected via m/z 79 and m/z 81 based on the isotopic occurrence of bromine. In this way, the retention times of the unknown organobromine compounds are determined, and this can be used to extract additional structural information (number of bound bromine atoms, molecular mass and fragmentation scheme) from measurements in the commonly used but less sensitive scan mode. The analysis of known organobromine compounds shows that LC/NI-ESI-IISF mass spectrometry with detection of m/z 79 and 81 is more sensitive than the detection of daughter ions (LC/ESI/MS-MS). Therefore, we present a method not only for the detection of unknown organic bromine compounds, but also for the selective and sensitive detection and quantification of known organobromine compounds.  相似文献

FDU-15 is a hexagonal mesoporous material with nanometer-sized, highly ordered arrays and large special surface area. In this work, FDU-15-Pt with 2.0%, 5.0% and 8.0% Pt loading were synthesised and used for electrochemical detection of trace nitroaromatic compounds (NACs). The FDU-15-Pt samples were characterised by CO Chemisorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It has been demonstrated that FDU-15-Pt with 2.0% Pt loading has the smallest Pt particle size of 2.9?nm, highest Pt metal dispersion of 37.7% and largest Pt metal surface area of 21.36?m2?g?1. The FDU-15-Pt/PDDA modified electrode were assembled by electrostatic adsorption of Poly (diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) and FDU-15-Pt. The 2.0% FDU-15-Pt modified sensor showed higher selectivity for NACs than those of 5.0% and 8.0% FDU-15-Pt, which were verified by electrochemical experiments. A linear response over TNT concentration ranging from 8.8?×?10?9?M to 1.2?×?10?5 M was exhibited with a low detection limit of 2.9?×?10?9?M (S/N?=?3). Moreover, the proposed 2.0% FDU-15-Pt/PDDA modified sensor has been applied to the detection of NACs in spiked environmental water samples and shows promise for fast and accurate determination of trace NACs in real samples.  相似文献

This paper describes a method of determining the following compounds in water characterised by complex matrices (raw waters and drinking waters): geosmin, 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB), 2-isobutyl-3-methoxypyrazine (IBM), 2-isopropyl-3-methoxypyrazine (IPM) and 2,4,6-trichloroanisole (TCA). The method is carried out using headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatography (GC) and ion trap mass spectrometry (ITMS). Several parameters of extraction and desorption were optimised through the use of a Combi PAL autosampler to automate various tasks (temperature extraction, extraction time, stir speed). Quantities of NaCl and the liquid volume/total volume ratio were also optimised. Double fragmentation (tandem MS/MS) was optimised on the target compounds. The method resulted in good linearity obtained for concentrations of 1 to 100?ng?L?1 and provided detection limits of approximately below 1?ng?L?1. Good precision (1–8%) was obtained. This method was successfully applied to the analysis of earthy and musty odours in municipal raw source waters with high concentrations of natural organic matter and in the corresponding treated waters. This is the first time MS/MS has been used to analyse odorous compounds in waters destined for human consumption. In addition, the method as developed is simple to use and lends itself to easy interpretation of chromatograms.  相似文献

A new method for the simultaneous determination of 12 volatile organic compounds (trans-1,2-dichloroethene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, benzene, 1,2-dichloroethane, trichloroethene, toluene, 1,1,2-trichloroethane, tetrachloroethene, ethylbenzene, m-, p-, o-xylene) in water samples by headspace solid phase microextraction (HS–SPME)–gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC–MS) was described, using a 100?µm PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) coated fibre. The response surface methodology was used to optimise the effect of the extraction time and temperature, as well as the influence of the salt addition in the extraction process. Optimal conditions were extraction time and temperature of 30?min and ?20°C, respectively, and NaCl concentration of 4?mol?L?1. The detection limits were in the range of 1.1?×?10?3–2.3?µg?L?1 for the 12 volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Global uncertainties were in the range of 4–68%, when concentrations decrease from 250?µg?L?1 down to the limits of quantification. The method proved adequate to detect VOCs in six river samples.  相似文献

A new self-tuning single-mode-focused microwave technology has been evaluated in this work to perform the quantitative routine extraction of organometallic species from solid matrices of environmental interest. Species-specific isotope dilution analysis has been employed to better investigate the real influence of the microwave-assisted extractions on the final results. The advantages of such methodology in comparison with other established microwave units for the routine speciation analysis of organomercury and organotin compounds are discussed (such as the capability of using disposable glass vials, a self-tuning mode to provide an accurate control of the temperature and pressure inside of the vials, and the possibility of performing automated sequence of extractions with low sample size). The results obtained in this work demonstrated that such technology provides a fast and reliable quantitative extraction of the organometallic species in a wide range of extraction conditions even when the multi-elemental (Sn and Hg) species-specific determination is carried out.  相似文献

It is known that the compound 2,4-dichloro-6-nitrophenol (2,4DC6NP) is formed upon nitration of 2,4-dichlorophenol, which in turn is a transformation intermediate of the herbicide dichlorprop. However, the chemical and spectroscopic characteristics of 2,4DC6NP, as well as its toxicity, are poorly known. This work shows that 2,4DC6NP behaves as a diprotic acid in aqueous solutions, with pKa values of 3.0?±?0.9 and 4.9?±?0.5. At pH?<?3, 2,4DC6NP would undergo protonation. The absorption spectra suggest that anionic 2,4DC6NP, which prevails at pH?>?5 would have an ortho-quinoid structure that is responsible for the absorption peak centred at 428?nm. Considering that 2,4DC6NP has been detected in the brackish lagoons of the Rhône delta (southern France), where its levels are comparable to those of the parent herbicide, it is necessary to examine the possible effects of 2,4DC6NP on the species living in that environment. For this reason, the acute toxicity of the anionic form of 2,4DC6NP was assessed for the brine shrimp Artemia salina, a zooplankton species that lives both in brackish and in saline aquatic environments. The toxicity test yielded a LC20 value of 8?±?2?mg?L?1 and a LC50 value of 18.7?±?0.8?mg?L?1. Such values are safely higher than the maximum detected concentration of 2,4DC6NP in the Rhône delta lagoons. Further studies should be concentrated on the long-term effects of 2,4DC6NP, and in particular on its potential genotoxicity.  相似文献
