In this paper we study the relationship between Constraint Programming (CP) and Shortest Path (SP) problems. In particular, we show that classical, multicriteria, partially ordered, and modality-based SP problems can be naturally modeled and solved within the Soft Constraint Logic Programming (SCLP) framework, where logic programming is coupled with soft constraints. In this way we provide this large class of SP problems with a high-level and declarative linguistic support whose semantics takes care of both finding the cost of the shortest path(s) and also of actually finding the path(s). On the other hand, some efficient algorithms for certain classes of SP problems can be exploited to provide some classes of SCLP programs with an efficient way to compute their semantics.  相似文献

Neighboring extremals of dynamic optimization problems with path equality constraints and with an unknown parameter vector are considered in this paper. With some simplifications, the problem is reduced to solving a linear, time-varying two-point boundary-value problem with integral path equality constraints. A modified backward sweep method is used to solve this problem. Two example problems are solved to illustrate the validity and usefulness of the solution technique. Most existing interior-point methods for a linear complementarity problem (LCP) require the existence of a strictly feasible point to guarantee that the iterates are bounded. Based on a regularized central path, we present an infeasible interior-point algorithm for LCPs without requiring the strict feasibility condition. The iterates generated by the algorithm are bounded when the problem is a P * LCP and has a solution. Moreover, when the problem is a monotone LCP and has a solution, we prove that the convergence rate is globally linear and it achieves `-feasibility and `-complementarity in at most O(n 2 ln(1/`)) iterations with a properly chosen starting point.  相似文献

In 1990, Gutman and Mizoguchi conjectured that all roots of the -polynomial (G,C,x) of a graph G are real. Since then, there has been some literature intending to solve this conjecture. However, in all existing literature, only classes of graphs were found to show that the conjecture is true; for example, monocyclic graphs, bicyclic graphs, graphs such that no two circuits share a common edge, graphs without 3-matchings, etc, supporting the conjecture in some sense. Yet, no complete solution has been given. In this paper, we show that the conjecture is true for all graphs, and therefore completely solve this conjecture.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of finding a shortest path tree rooted at a given source node on a directed graph (SPT) is considered. A new efficient algorithm based on a primal-dual approach is presented, which improves both the convergence and the complexity of the best known auction-like algorithm. It uses the virtual source (VS) concept based on the following consideration: when a node i is visited for the first time by any algorithm which preserves verified the dual admissibility conditions, then the shortest path (SP) from the source node to i is found. Therefore, the SP from the source to the remaining nodes may be computed by considering i as a virtual source.We propose a very efficient implementation of an auction-like algorithm that uses this concept and enables us to obtain a computational cost of O(n 2), where n is the number of nodes.Numerical experimentsare reported showing that the new method outdoes previously proposed auction-like algorithms and is highly competitive with other state-of-art SP approaches.  相似文献

Let P k be a path on k vertices. In an earlier paper we have proved that each polyhedral map G on any compact 2-manifold with Euler characteristic contains a path P k such that each vertex of this path has, in G, degree . Moreover, this bound is attained for k = 1 or k 2, k even. In this paper we prove that for each odd , this bound is the best possible on infinitely many compact 2-manifolds, but on infinitely many other compact 2-manifolds the upper bound can be lowered to .  相似文献

We use a recent simulationbased optimization method, sample path optimization, to find optimal buffer allocations in tandem production lines where machines are subject to random breakdowns and repairs, and the product is fluidtype. We explore some of the functional properties of throughput of such systems and exploit these properties to prove the almost sure convergence of our optimization technique, under a regularity condition on the steady state. Utilizing a generalized semiMarkov process (GSMP) representation of the system, we derive recursive expressions to compute onesided directional derivatives of throughput, from a single simulation run. Finally, we give computational results for lines with up to 50 machines. We also compare results for smaller lines with the results from a more conventional method, stochastic approximation, whenever applicable. In these numerical studies, our method performed quite well on problems that are considered difficult by current computational standards.  相似文献
