This paper deals with turbulent or chaotic phenomena which occur in the system governed by Duffing's equation, a special type of two-dimensional periodic system. By using analog and digital computers, experiments are carried out with special reference to the change of attractors and of average power spectra of the random processes under the variation of the system parameters. On the basis of the experimental results, an outline of the random process is made clear. The results obtained in this paper will be applied to various physical problems and will also serve as material for the development of a proper mathematics of this phenomenon. 相似文献

Under physiologic conditions, the AV junction is traditionally regarded as a passive conduit for the conduction of impulses from the atria to the ventricles. An alternative view, namely that subsidiary pacemakers play an active role in normal electrophysiologic dynamics during sinus rhythm, has been suggested based on nonlinear models of cardiac oscillators. A central problem has been the development of a simple but explicit mathematical model for coupled nonlinear oscillators relevant both to stable and perturbed cardiac dynamics. We use equations describing an analog electrical circuit with an external d.c. voltage source (V0) and two nonlinear oscillators with intrinsic frequencies in the ratio of 3:2, comparable to the SA node and AV junction rates. The oscillators are coupled by means of a resistor. 1:1 (SA:AV) phase-locking of the oscillators occurs over a critical range of V0. Externally driving the SA oscillator at increasing rates results in 3:2 AV Wenckebach periodicity and a 2:1 AV block. These findings appear with no assumptions about conduction time or refractoriness. This dynamical model is consistent with the new interpretation that normal sinus rhythm may represent 1:1 coupling of two or more active nonlinear oscillators and also accounts for the appearance of an AV block with critical changes in a single parameter such as the pacing rate. 相似文献

Summary Different ocean models with one or two layers having constant static stability and supporting constant-shear flows, whose
directions are allowed to change with depth, are examined in the frame-work of the linear nonzonal baroclinic stability theory
and in the absence of the β-effect. The analysis is reduced to solving a simple Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem in
one dimension. A fairly general dispersion relation is found which correctly reproduces several special cases analysed by
other authors. This relation shows a fair variety of possible behaviours for stability curves of two-layer models. The results
show that the presence of a nonplanar shear-flow may have profound consequences on the stability character of the stationary
geostrophic flow. In fact, it appears that the stability properties are strongly dependent on the propagation angle of the
disturbance so that wave numbers which appear stable in the usual zonal theory may result unstable on such a nonzonal flow
andvice versa.

Using the Wigner-Kirkwood expansion and bare Lennard-Jones (LJ) (12-6) potential, an effectiveLJ potential is derived, which includes the quantum effects through the expressions of the effective diameter∂(T, λ) and well-depth
(T, λ). We use theWCA perturbation theory to calculate the free energy and pressure for theLJ and effectiveLJ potentials. Simple analytic expressions are given for the reference system and the first order correction calculated. The
