Transformation of impedance spectra into relaxation time spectra (RTS) is used for determining contributions of individual processes of the oxygen electroreduction reaction (OER) to the polarization resistance of the electrochemical cell. The transformation technique involves the solution of the convolution equation found with the aid of a modified Van Cittert iteration algorithm checked on model impedance spectra. The technique, when used to analyze impedance spectra of electrochemical cells air|Pt|YSZ|YSZ + Pt|air, shows that the conversion of a globular structure of the YSZ + Pt cermet layer to a columnar one is accompanied by a change of peak amplitudes in RTS. The revealed RTS dynamics when heated to 750°C is compared with peculiarities of individual processes in OER. 相似文献

Artificial cells containing concentrated hemoglobin (Hb) solution were prepared by interfacial polymerization of Hb with glutaraldehyde
(GA) in liquid membrane capsules (LMC). A solution containing 30% of Hb was emulsified in mineral oil as red cell-size microdroplets,
and this emulsion was dispersed in an aqueous phase containing glutaraldehyde to form LMC. The LMC were semipermeable templates
that held the microdroplets of Hb in suspension while GA diffused through the oil to the microdroplet surfaces. The GA crosslinked
Hb at the surface of each microdroplet to form an artificial red-cell membrane encapsulating Hb solution. A water-soluble
surfactant was used to eject the cells from the LMC and suspend them in saline.
Several surfactants were evaluated. Cell size was controlled by agitation speed during preparation of the original emulsion.
Cells of 2.52 = ±1.69 μm were prepared. The encapsulated Hb retained capacity to bind and release O2. The cells had aP
50 of 8.9 torr (1200 Pa) and a capacity of 0.55 cc O2/g of total Hb, indicating that the crosslinked portion of the Hb did not contribute to O2 transport. 相似文献

Scientific evidence in the prevention and treatment of various disorders is accumulating regarding probiotics. The health
benefits supported by adequate clinical data include increased resistance to infectious disease, decreased duration of diarrhea,
management of inflammatory bowel disease, reduction of serum cholesterol, prevention of allergy, modulation of cytokine gene
expression, and suppression of carcinogen production. Recent ventures in metabolic engineering and heterologous protein expression
have enhanced the enzymatic and immunomodulatory effects of probiotics and, with time, may allow more active intervention
among critical care patients. In addition, a number of approaches are currently being explored, including the physical and
chemical protection of cells, to increase probiotic viability and its health benefits. Traditional immobilization of probiotics
in gel matrices, most notably calcium alginate and κ-carrageenan, has frequently been employed, with noted improvements in
viability during freezing and storage. Conflicting reports exist, however, on the protection offered by immobilization from
harsh physiologic environments. An alternative approach, microencapsulation in “artificial cells,” builds on immobilization
technologies by combining enhanced mechanical stability of the capsule membrane with improved mass transport, increased cell
loading, and greater control of parameters. This review summarizes the current clinical status of probiotics, examines the
promises and challenges of current immobilization technologies, and presents the concept of artificial cells for effective

Proposed in this paper is an improved method for removal of tin as the matrix element by volatilization in an anhydrous medium as mixed halides of different composition. Any one of them boils at a lower temperature than SnBr4. This ternary system enhances the eventual recombination of temporarily dissociated species to volatile ones, thus making the process quicker and more efficient. Quasi-solid-state electrolytes were fabricated with mesoporous silica SBA-15 as a framework material. Ionic conductivity measurements revealed that SBA-15 can enhance the conductivity of the quasi-solid-state electrolyte. The diffusion coefficients of polyiodide ions such as Ⅰ3ˉ and Ⅰ5ˉ which were confirmed by Raman spectroscopic measurement, were about twice larger than that of I-. The optimized photoenergy conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) with the quasi-solid-state electrolyte was 4.3% under AM 1.5 irradiation at 75 mW·cm^-2 light intensity. 相似文献

The influence of mitoxantron (M) and benz(a)pyrene (BP) on chromatin DNA in composition of spleen and liver tissues and cells of BALB/c mice were studied using a high-sensitive differential scanning microcalorimeter. The liquid-solid phase diagram of the binary system BaF2? ScF3 is established by D.T.A. and radiocrystallography. Three fluorides are disclosed: Ba3Sc2F12, Ba5Sc3F19 and a cubic high temperature phase Ba1?xScxF2+x (x = 0.17), the structure of which derives from that of BaF2. A solid solution between BaF2 and ScF3 is also evidenced at high temperature. The ternary system BaF2? CuF2? ScF3 is investigated by radiocrystallography and an isothermal section at 670°C is given. It shows the existence of four phases: a complex quaternary fluoride Ba10Cu12ScF47, two “polytypic” phases the structure of which derives from that of BaCuF4 and a tetragonal solid solution Ba5Sc3?xCuxF19?x with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1. 相似文献

Oxidized chitosan derivatives with various degrees of oxidation (DS, 0.1–1.0) were prepared by the treatment of chitosan with CrO3/aq HClO4 or by the oxidation of 3‐O‐ and N‐protected chitosan with 30% aq H2O2/Na2WO4 followed by 3‐O‐ and N‐deprotection. The oxidized products were then N‐acetylated with Ac2O in order to improve their water‐solubility. Although the oxidized chitosan derivative of DS 0.28 and the degree of N‐acetylation of chitosan (DA) 38% was insoluble in the pH 3–8 region, that of DS 0.26 and DA 76% was soluble in the neutral pH range. The newly‐prepared acetylated and oxidized chitosan derivatives were found to suppress the chemiluminescence response of inflammatory cells such as canine polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs). Analysis by the surface plasmon resonance method revealed that the bind and release behavior of PMNs to acetylated oxidized chitosan derivatives was similar to that against carboxymethylated chitosan derivatives. The amount of water‐soluble chitosan derivative bound to cytokine IL‐8 was found to be affected by the structural and electronic features of the chitosan substituents in the chitosan chain.
