Complete 1H and 13C NMR spectral assignment of symmetric and asymmetric bis-spiropyran derivatives

(1)H and (13)C NMR spectra of symmetric and asymmetric bis-spiropyrans, Series 1-3, were completely assigned. Especially, the (1)H assignment of asymmetric spiropyrans was achieved by utilizing (1)H-(1)H COSY and nOe experiments. All of the carbons in the dye molecules were investigated through a combination of heteronuclear 2D-shift correlation spectroscopy (HETCOR), together with an attached proton test (APT).     

Carbon Nanotubes Based Nanoelectrode Arrays: Fabrication,Evaluation, and Application in Voltammetric Analysis

Fabrication, electrochemical characterization, and applications of low‐site density carbon nanotubes based nanoelectrode arrays (CNTs‐NEAs) are reported in this work. Spin‐coating of an epoxy resin provides a new way to create the electrode passivation layer effectively reducing electrode capacitance and current leakage. Cyclic voltammetry showed the sigmoidal shape curves with low capacitive current and scan‐rate‐independent limiting current. Square‐wave voltammetry showed well‐defined peak shapes in voltammograms of K₃Fe(CN)₆ and 4‐acetamidophenol (acetaminophen) and the peak currents to be proportioned to their concentrations, demonstrating the feasibility for voltammetric analysis of the CNTs‐NEAs. The CNTs‐NEAs were also used successfully for voltammetric detection of trace concentrations of lead(II) at ppb level at first‐time. The CNTs‐NEAs provide an excellent platform for ultra sensitive electrochemical sensors for chemical and biological sensing.     

Rationally functionalized deltahedral zintl ions: synthesis and characterization of [Ge9-ER3]3-, [R3E-Ge9-ER3]2-, and [R3E-Ge9-Ge9-ER3]4- (E=Ge, Sn; R=Me, Ph)

Six new derivatized deltahedral Zintl ions have been synthesized by reactions between the known Zintl ions Ge(9) (n-) with the halides R(3)EX and/or the corresponding anions R(3)E(-) for E=Ge or Sn. This rational approach is based on our previous discovery that these derivatization reactions are based on nucleophilic addition to the clusters. All species were structurally characterized as their salts with potassium countercations sequestered in 2,2,2-crypt or [18]crown-6 ether. The tin-containing anions were characterized also in solutions by (119)Sn NMR spectroscopy. The reaction types for such substitutions and the structures of the new anions are discussed.     

Synthesis and Transformation of Methyl 2‐(6‐Hydroxy‐2‐phenylpyrimidin‐4‐yl)acetate: Simple Preparation of Pyrimidines with Heterocyclic Substituents

A simple and efficient synthesis of four new substituted pyrimidines, compounds 9a – d , from the title compound 3 is described. Conversion of 3 to methyl (E)‐3‐(dimethylamino)‐2‐(6‐methoxy‐2‐phenylpyrimidin‐4‐yl)prop‐2‐enoate ( 4 ), followed by condensation with various dinucleophiles according to the ‘enaminone methodology’, afforded the target compounds 9 in medium‐to‐good yields.     

Quantitative analysis of nicotinic acid, nicotinamide and 3-cyanopyridine in industrial effluent by high performance liquid chromatography

A rapid and reliable high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method for the simultaneous determination of heterocyclic compounds, namely nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, and 3-cyanopyridine, in industrial effluent is described. A Φ4.6 mm × 150 mm, 5 μm C-18 reversed phase stationery phase, and a methanol-acetonitrile-water tertiary mobile phase (20:20:60 v/v) were used for separation. The detection wavelength of a diode array (DAD) was set at 216 nm with a bandwidth of 16 nm. Phenol was used as an internal standard. The regression equations revealed a linear relationship between the concentration of the analytes injected and the peak area detected by DAD. The limits of detection (S/N = 3) ranged from 0.70 to 1.18 mg L⁻¹, the recoveries ranged from 87% to 102% and the precision expressed as % RSD intra-day and inter-day varied from 0.9 to 3.9 and 1.2 to 5.6, respectively. This method is rapid, sensitive and suitable for the monitoring of nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, and 3-cyanopyridine in effluent of related pharmaceutical manufacturing plants.     

Potential energy surface of thionylimide

The potential energy surface (PES) of thionylimide has been searched using ab initio MO and density functional calculations. The electronic structures of the isomers of HNSO have been studied using the HF/6‐31+G*, MP2(full)/6‐31+G*, and B3LYP/6‐31+G* levels. Final energies of these molecules have been calculated at the high‐accuracy G2 and CBS‐Q levels. The probable pathways of isomerization of thionylimide to its isomers (e.g., thiocyanic acid, HONS, nitrosothiols) have been explored by studying the three‐ or four‐membered transition states. This study identified total eight possible isomers ( 1–8 ) of HNSO, of which four ( 1–4 ) have already been realized experimentally. Of the remaining four ( 5–8 ), at least two ( 5, 7 ) can be generated experimentally. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2006

本文报道了三种聚苯乙烯支载苯并-15-冠-5与两种聚苯乙烯支载无环冠醚的合成,并研究了它们对K~+与Na~+的络合性能与相转移催化性能。     

Electrochemical Response of Cobalt(II) in the Presence of Ammonia

The electrochemical oxidation of cobalt(II) at gold, boron‐doped diamond, basal and edge plane pyrolytic graphite, and highly oriented pyrolytic graphite electrodes in aqueous solutions containing NH₃ has been studied using cyclic voltammetry, with subsequent chemical and electrochemical processes explained in detail. Furthermore, the electro‐reduction of [Co(NH₃)₆]³⁺ in the presence of different electrolytes has also been studied to obtain a better understanding of the oxidation pathway of the Co(II)‐ammine complexes. In aqueous solution the mechanism can be described by the following scheme:     

Terminally Dimetallated N,N′‐Dimethylpiperazines with Doubly Spirocyclic Structures

Dilithiated N,N′‐dimethyl‐piperazine, LiCH₂N(CH₂CH₂)₂ NCH₂Li ( 2 ) was prepared by transmetallation of N,N′‐bis(trimethylstannylmethyl)‐piperazine ( 1 ) with ⁿBuLi and was isolated as a highly pyrophoric yellowish powder in high yield. Compound 2 was characterized by elemental analysis and was reacted as difunctional aminomethylating reagent with dialkyl‐earth metal chlorides, R₂MCl (M = Al, Ga; R = Me, ^tBu) which resulted in the formation of spirocyclic adducts of N,N′‐bis(dialkylmetallamethyl)‐piperazine and unreacted dialkylmetal chlorides, [(Me₂AlCl)Me₂AlCH₂N(CH₂CH₂)₂NCH₂AlMe₂(ClAlMe₂)] ( 3 ) and [(^tBu₂GaCl)^tBu₂GaCH₂N(CH₂CH₂)₂NCH₂Ga^tBu₂(ClGa^tBu₂)] ( 4 ) with five‐membered rings. Compounds 1 , 3 and 4 were identified by NMR‐spectroscopy (¹H, ¹³C, ¹¹⁹Sn for 1 , ²⁷Al for 3 ), mass spectra (EI, for 1 ) and by crystal structure determinations.
