The binary phase diagram of KNO3-KClO3 is studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and high-temperature X-ray diffraction. The limited solid solutions, K(NO3)1−x(ClO3)x (0<x<0.20) and K(NO3)1−x(ClO3)x (0.90<x<1.0), were formed in the KNO3-based solid solutions and KClO3-based solid solutions phase, respectively. For KNO3-based solid solutions, KNO3 ferroelectric phase can be stable from 423 to 223 K as a result of substituting of NO3 by ClO3-radicals. The temperatures for solidus and liquidus have been determined based on limited solid solutions. Two models, Henrian solution and regular solution theory for KNO3-based (α) phase and KClO3-based (β) phase, respectively, are employed to reproduce solidus and liquidus of the phase diagram. The results are in good agreement with the DSC data. The thermodynamic properties for α and β solid solutions have been derived from an optimization procedure using the experimental data. The calculated phase diagram and optimized thermodynamic parameters are thermodynamically self-consistent.  相似文献

This paper examines the polymerization of acrylonitrile to poly(acrylonitrile)(PAN), and its cyclization, in bulk form and using N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) as solvent in which both monomer and polymer are soluble. Thermal analysis of the resultant products after polymerization has been performed by DSC and pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). Scanning electron microscopy has been used to study the morphology of the resultant products and after thermal treatments. The DSC thermal curve of PAN-DMF sample is quite different from the PAN bulk sample, showing a single sharp exothermic peak associated with nitrile group polymerization (cyclization) of PAN at lower temperature (240°C) than that of bulk PAN sample (314°C). Cyclization of PAN was confirmed by IR spectroscopy. It was found that the amide molecules are difficult to eliminate completely in the product obtained after the polymerization reaction, even after prolonged heating at 110°C, and remain occluded. The formation of a complex by dipolar bonding is also possible and it is discussed. It is concluded that the amount of heat evolved as well as the temperature interval over which it is released are influenced by the chemical processing of PAN when using DMF as solvent of both monomer and polymer. Pyrolysis of these PAN samples revealed the release of occluded molecules of DMF, and several compounds containing nitrogen produced from the thermal degradation processes. All these results are interesting to know the chemical processing of carbon fibres and activated carbon fibres from PAN modified precursors.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

根据Flory热力学统计理论和比容-熔融热作国法,由DSC结果得到了不同联苯含量的聚醚醚酮酮-含联苯聚醚醚酮酮(PEEKK-PEBEKK)共聚物的熔融热,两种方法获得的结果吻合。在此基础上给出了PEEKK-PEBEKK共聚物不同联苯含量的熔点计算表达式。结果还表明,随着联苯含量nB,的变化,明显改变;当nB=0.35时,PEEKKPEBEKK共聚物的值最小。  相似文献

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), supported by hot stage microscopy, IR spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffractometry, was used to investigate the characteristics of the solid phases of mefenamic, niflumic, and flufenamic acids and of paracetamol, before and after equilibration with saturated solutions in different solvents. Mixtures of Lewis base (dioxane and ethyl acetate) and amphiprotic solvents (ethanol and water) were prepared for evaluating the influence of both nature and polarity of the solvents. Solid-state analysis performed on the original samples (commercial products) made it possible to establish that paracetamol, mefenamic acid and flufenamic acid were in their respective Form I. No polymorphic modifications are known for niflumic acid. Paracetamol, niflumic and mefenamic acids did not show any change after equilibration with the various solvents or solvent mixtures, regardless of their different chemical nature. In contrast, DSC, IR and X-ray analyses revealed the partial recrystallization of flufenamic acid into its polymorphic Form III in solid phases at equilibrium with ethanol, ethyl acetate and their blends, as well as in dioxane-water mixtures containing 30 to 100% dioxane and in ethanol-water mixtures with a water content less than 50%. An experimental mixture design was applied to a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) study performed to evaluate naproxen compatibility in tablet formulations consisting of four classic excipients (sorbitol, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, poly(ethylene glycol) 20000 and Veegum) each in adequate concentration ranges accounting for the relevant values actually used in pharmaceutical formulations. Twenty-seven different tablets were obtained from as many mixtures prepared according to the experimental design plan and analyzed in a random order by DSC. Statistical evaluation of experimental data enabled correlation of both enthalpy and onset temperature variations of drug melting endotherm (selected as responses indicative of the presence of drug-excipient interactions) with the mixture composition. Variance analysis (Anova) confirmed the reliability of the postulated polynomial model in providing adequate prediction of true system behaviour. Two poly(butylene terephthalate)/polycarbonate (PBT/PC) blends with different formulations were analyzed by modulated DSC (MDSC) and conventional DSC to determine differences in crystallization behavior. A significant difference (30°C in cold crystallization temperature) between the two samples was detectable by MDSC while no significant difference was seen by conventional DSC. That indicatesthe total heat flow from MDSC is not always equivalent to the heat flow from conventional DSC as we have assumed or seen before. The reason has not been fully understood, but may be related to unusual nucleation and crystallization induced by modulation. The thermal properties of -lactoglobulin (-LG) were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under different medium conditions.pH, neutral salts, protein perturbants, and polyols all affected the DSC characteristics of -LG. Acylation with fatty acids also changed the thermal properties, particularly peak width at half-height. The results suggest that the structural stability of -LG is controlled by non-covalent forces, particularly electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions. Disulfide bonds did not contribute to the thermal response of -LG. Fatty N-acyl-amino acids caused marked increases in thermal stability and decreases in denaturation enthalpy, and additional peaks were observed in the presence of some palmitoyl derivatives.Contribution No. 2310, Centre for Food and Animal Research.We thank D. The thermal effect accompanying the transition of Cu2–xSe into a superionic conduction state was studied by non-isothermal measurements, at different heating and cooling rates (β=1, 2.5, 5, 10 and 20°C min–1). During heating the peak temperature (Tp) remains almost stable for all values of β, (136.8±0.4°C for Cu2Se and 133.0±0.3°C for Cu1.99Se). A gradual shift of the initiation of the transformation towards lower temperatures is observed, as the heating rate increases. During cooling there is a significant shift in the position of the peak maximum (Tp) towards lower temperatures with the increase of the cooling rate. A small hysteresis is observed, which increases with the increase of the cooling rate, β. The mean value of transformation enthalpy was found to be 30.3±0.8 J g–1 for Cu2Se and 28.9±0.9 J g–1 for Cu1.99Se. The transformation can be described kinetically by the model f(ǯ)=(1–ǯ)n(1+kcatX), with activation energy E=175 kJ mol–1, exponent value n equal to 0.2, logA=20 and log(kcat)= 0.5.  相似文献
