Poly(dimethylbutadiene) popcorn polymer oxidizes readily in the presence of oxygen at room temperature. Quantitative data are presented for the production of the major volatile product, 2,5-hexanedione, as well as for the secondary products: water, acetic acid, and acetaldehyde. Three reaction mechanisms formerly proposed for polyisoprene oxidation are considered for their applicability to poly(dimethylbutadiene) popcorn oxidation. Of these, one that assumes the formation of a Bevilacquatype peroxyalkoxy radical followed by hydrogen abstraction to form an alcohol group, double bond migration, formation of a peroxide radical adjacent to the alcohol, then elimination of a hydroxy radical and scission, can explain the experimental data.  相似文献

Abstract

The possibility of reaching high pressures gave rise to intense studies of the phase state of substances, their structures, and properties depending on a new thermodynamic parameter-pressure. Characterizing the extensive development of these studies, one should distinguish three stages: (i) the study of polymorphism for elements under high pressure, and the construction of T-P diagrams; (ii) the study of polymorphism for compounds; and (iii) the construction of three-dimensional T- C-P diagrams for binary and multicomponent systems. At present, the first stage is almost completed in the pressure range from ~100 kbar (see Ref. 1) to 1 Mbar. A series of empirical laws have been established that determine the general direction of structural changes for chemical elements with a pressure rise. Thus, for the elements of the B-subgroup of the Periodic Table, the “coordination rule” has been established according to which an increase in pressure produces structural changes in B elements characterized by a higher packing density and coordination number. According to another rule, the so-called homology rule, B-elements under pressure acquire structures typical for their heavier homologues at normal pressure. These rules manifest themselves most clearly for the elements of the IVB subgroup. In a C-Si-Ge-Sn row structure types change with an increase of the coordination number as follows: graphite (3)-diamond (4)-white tin (6). The same sequence is also observed for the elements of the M3 subgroup with a pressure rise: graphite transforms into diamond, and the diamond-like structure of germanium and silicon transforms into the white-tin structure.  相似文献

Well‐defined poly(3‐alkyl‐4‐benzamide) was synthesized by means of chain‐growth condensation polymerization of phenyl 3‐octyl‐4‐(4‐octyloxybenzyl(OOB)amino)benzoate ( 1c ) from initiator 2 , followed by removal of the OOB groups on amide nitrogen of poly 1c . Polymerization of 1c with phenyl 4‐(trifluoromethyl)benzoate ( 2b ) in the presence of 1,1,1,3,3,3‐hexamethyldisilazide (LiHMDS) and LiCl in THF at ?10 °C gave poly 1c with a narrow molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn ≤ 1.08) and a well‐defined molecular weight (Mn = 4480–12,700) determined by the feed ratio of monomer to initiator (from 10 to 30). The OOB groups of poly 1c were removed with H2SO4 to give the corresponding N‐unsubstituted poly(p‐benzamide) (poly 1c′ ) with low polydispersity. The solublity of poly 1c′ in polar organic solvents was dramatically higher than that of poly(p‐benzamide), demonstrating that introduction of an alkyl group on the aromatic ring is very effective for improving the solubility of poly(p‐benzamide). © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The Traveling Salesman Problem with Pickup and Delivery seeks a minimum cost path with pickups preceding deliveries. It is important in on-demand last-mile logistics, such as ride sharing and meal delivery. We examine the use of low-width Decision Diagrams in a branch-and-bound with and without Assignment Problem inference duals as a primal heuristic for finding good solutions within strict time budgets. We show these diagrams can be more effective than similarly structured hybrid Constraint Programming techniques for real-time decision making.  相似文献

Abstract

Phosphate-based bioactive glasses and their glass ceramics for 47P2O5– (30.5)CaO–(22.5 ? x)Na2O–xZrO2 for different ZrO2 contents (x = 0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, and 6.0 mol%) were prepared through melt quenching and controlled heat treatment procedures. The amorphous nature of glasses and the presence of crystalline phases in glass ceramics were studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. The density, molar volume, ultrasonic velocities, attenuation, elastic constants, and microhardness of glass and glass ceramics were used to study the structural changes. The formation of hydroxyapatite layer on the surface of glasses and glass ceramics after immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) was explored through XRD, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses. The results indicate that the added ZrO2 increases the crosslink density of glasses, resulting in network stability, and also induces the formation of an apatite layer on the surface of glasses.

A series of new polyazomethines containing furan moieties was synthesized by polycondensation of bifuranic diamine monomers with commercially available aromatic dialdehydes viz., terephthaldehyde (TPA), isophthaldehyde (IPA). Inherent viscosities and number average molecular weights of polyazomethines were in the range 0.90–1.56 dL/g and 10460–17850 (SEC, polystyrene standard), respectively indicating formation of medium to reasonably high molecular weight polymers. The resulting polyazomethines were characterized by solubility tests, viscosity measurements, FTIR, NMR, UV spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetric (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). These furan-based polyazomethines were essentially amorphous and exhibited glass transition temperatures (Tg) in the 150–190°C range. The temperature at 10% wt loss (T10), determined from TGA of polyazomethines were in the range 300–380°C, indicating their good thermal stability.  相似文献

Two new symmetrical diamines were designed and synthesized having different functional groups such as a pair of phenyl ether linkages, 2,3-diaryl substituted imidazole rings and CF3 groups as pendant, and characterized by FT-IR, 1H and 13C-NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. A series of new fluorescent poly(imide-ether)s (PIEs) was prepared by polymerization of the diamines with commercial tetracarboxylic dianhydrides such as pyromellitic dianhydride and 3,3′,4,4′-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride. The resulting PIEs were amorphous and had intrinsic viscosity [η] in the range of 0.42–0.51 dL/g. The weight average molecular weights (Mw) of these polymers were measured by GPC and were in the range of 28658–35595 g/mol with molecular weight distribution (MWD) of 2.12–2.27. These polymers were readily soluble in a variety of organic solvents and formed low-colored and flexible thin films with cut-off wavelength (λ0) in the range of 385–420 nm, and all PIEs films exhibited high optical transparency. They also possessed good thermal stability with 10% weight loss temperatures (T10%) in the range 486–537°C in N2. The glass transition temperatures (Tg) of PIEs are in the range 251–324°C. These polymers showed fluorescence emission in film and in solution at 459–476 nm with the quantum yields in the range 4–12%.  相似文献

Over half of the failures in drug development are due to problems with the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity, or ADME/Tox properties of a candidate compound. The utilization of in silico tools to predict ADME/Tox and physicochemical properties holds great potential for reducing the attrition rate in drug research and development, as this technology can prioritize candidate compounds in the pharmaceutical R&D pipeline. However, a major concern surrounding the use of in silico ADME/Tox technology is the reliability of the property predictions. Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. has created a computational environment that addresses these concerns. This environment is referred to as KnowItAll®. Within this platform are encoded a number of ADME/Tox predictors, the ability to validate these predictors with/without in-house data and models, as well as build a ‘consensus’ model that may be a much better model than any of the individual predictive model. The KnowItAll® system can handle two types of predictions: real number and categorical classification.  相似文献
