Effect of Ce<Superscript>3+</Superscript> on spectral characteristic of D1/D2/Cytb559 complex from spinach

It was studied by spectroscopy that PSII reaction center complex consisting of three polypeptides, D₁, D₂ and Cytb559, were purified from PSII particle of CeCl₃ treated spinach. The results of the experiment show that Ce³⁺ could improve the growth of spinach, and accelerate electron transport of PSII particles. Of chl-a of UV-Vis spectrum of D1/D2/Cytb559 complex, Soret band was blue-shifted by 3 nm and Q band by 2 nm, respectively, and the fluorescence emission peak was blue-shifted by 5 nm in CeCl₃-treated spinach compared with the one in control. By the extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy methods, it has been found that Ce³⁺ is coordinated with 8 nitrogen atoms in the first coordination shell with Ce-N bond length of 0.253 nm, and Ce³⁺ with 6 oxygen atoms in the second coordination shell with Ce-O bond length of 0.32 nm. However, the secondary structure of D1/D2/Cytb559 complex by circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy has no significant change after CeCl₃ treated. It might be that Ce³⁺ binds to porphyrin rings of chlorophyll and oxygen of amino acid residue of polypeptide in D1/D2/Cytb559 complex, and then accelerates the primary reaction of PSII, intensifies function of P680⁺ primary electron donor of D1/D2/Cytb559, but there is little change in conformation of PSII reaction center complex.     

The preparation of thick-film glass capillary columns

A detailed method for the routine preparation of glass capillary columns is presented. The method consists of coating a glass tube with quartz powder prior to pulling the tube into a capillary. The inner surface of the capillary consists of an even distribution of quartz particles fused to the walls. This surface has been found readily deactivated by standard procedures and ideal for the preparation of thick-film glass capillary columns. The method has been thoroughly tested in two independent laboratories to ensure that the procedures described are reproducible.

为了提高气相色谱/质谱的检出灵敏度,采用进样新方法对油菜花粉气味组分进行分离测定,对下列11种成分作了鉴定:二甲二硫;正辛烷;1,3-二甲苯,异硫氰酸丙烯酯;1,4-二甲苯;1,2-二甲苯;3,4-二甲基庚烷;二甲三硫;2-甲基-5-已烯腈;萘;对-甲氧基苯丙烯。     

Preparation and characterization of theβ-cyclodextrin inclusion complex with sulfafurazole

The 1 : 1 inclusion complex involving sulfafurazole (SF) and-cyclodextrin (-CD) is prepared by the freeze-drying method and characterized on the basis of its chemical analysis, thermal behavior, infrared spectrum, X-ray powder pattern and¹³C NMR spectrum in DMSO-d₆ solution. The stability constant of the inclusion complex was determined by the solubility method. The effect of cyclodextrin on the UV absorption spectrum of sulfafurazole was also observed.     

The inclusion of rhodium(II)α-methyl-cinnamate in β-cyclodextrin

The preparation and characterization of the 1:1 inclusion compound of rhodium(II) -methyl cinnamate in -cyclodextrin is reported. Evidence of inclusion was obtained from X-ray powder diffraction results, Raman, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopic studies and thermal analysis. Given the potential antitumor activity of the rhodium(II) carboxylate and its virtual insolubility in water, its inclusion in -cyclodextrin opens the possibility for its transference to the aqueous phase.     

Synthesis of phosphorus (silicon,tin)-containing derivatives of mercaptoketenes and some of their properties

Some newS-phosphorylated,S-silylated, andS-stannylated derivatives of -mercaptoketones were obtained. The reactions of some of these compounds induced by the temperature and by molecular oxygen as well as the phosphorylation of the Si- and Sn-containing derivatives were studied.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Enantiomer differentiation in intramolecular carbon—hydrogen insertion reactions of racemic secondary alkyl diazoacetates catalyzed by chiral dirhodium(ii) carboxamidates

Highly efficient kinetic resolution of racemic secondary alkyl diazoacetates in intramolecular carbon-hydrogen insertion reactions has been achieved using chiral dirhodium(ii) carboxamidates. Products formed from catalytic diazo decomposition of racemic 2-octyl diazoacetate and, separately, its (2R)- and (2S)-enantiomeric forms, as well as bothcis- andtrans-2-methylcyclohexyl diazoacetates, have been systematically evaluated. Enantioselectivities up to 99 %ee have been obtained for -lactone formation. -Lactone production has been observed and, although minor with cyclohexyl diazoacetates, is the major insertion pathway for diazo decomposition of 2-octyl diazoacetate.Dedicated to Academician of the RAS N. Real-time onboard wind and windshear determination,part 2: Detection

This paper is concerned with windshear detection in connection with real-time wind identification (Ref. 1). It presents a comparative evaluation of two techniques, one based on the shear/downdraft factor and one based on the wind difference index. The comparison is done with reference to a particular microburst, that which caused the 1985 crash of Flight Delta 191 at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.The shear/downdraft factor has the merit of combining the effects of the shear and the downdraft into a single entity. However, its effectiveness is hampered by the fact that, in a real situation, the windshear is accompanied by free-stream turbulence, which tends to blur the resulting signal. In turn, this results in undesirable nuisance warnings if the magnitude of the shear factor due to free-stream turbulence is temporarily larger than that due to true windshear. Therefore, proper filtering is necessary prior to using the shear/downdraft factor in detection and guidance. One effective way for achieving this goal is to average the shear/downdraft factor over a specified time interval . The effect of on the average shear/downdraft factor is studied.     

The endomorphism spectrum of an ordered set

Theendomorphism spectrum of an ordered setP, spec(P)={|f(P)|:f End(P)} andspectrum number, sp(P)=max(spec(P)\{|P|}) are introduced. It is shown that |P|>(1/2)n(n – 1) ^{n – 1} implies spec(P) = {1, 2, ...,n} and that if a projective plane of ordern exists, then there is an ordered setP of size 2n ²+2n+2 with spec(P)={1, 2, ..., 2n+2, 2n+4}. Lettingh(n)=max{|P|: sp(P)n}, it follows thatc ₁ n ²h(n)c ₂ n ⁿ⁺¹ for somec ₁ andc ₂. The lower bound disproves the conjecture thath(n)2n. It is shown that if |P| – 1 spec(P) thenP has a retract of size |P| – 1 but that for all there is a bipartite ordered set with spec(P) = {|P| – 2, |P| – 4, ...} which has no proper retract of size|P| – . The influence of cyclodextrin complexation on proton transfer in piperidinomethyl-2-naphthol

Summary Piperidinomethyl-2-naphthol forms inclusion complexes with -cyclodextrin with an equilibrium constant of 265M ^–1 in aqueous solution. The proton transfer equilibrium between the neutral and the zwitterionic form is strongly influenced by the association.

Der Einfluß der Komplexierung mit -Cyclodextrin auf das Protontransfer-Gleichgewicht in Piperidino-2-naphthol (Kurze Mitt.)

Zusammenfassung Piperidinomethyl-2-naphthol bildet Einschlußkomplexe mit -Cyclodextrin mit einer Gleichgewichtskonstante von 265M ^–1. Das Protontransfer-Gleichgewicht zwischen neutraler Form und zwitterionischer Struktur wird durch diese Assoziation stark beeinflußt.
