The validity of any model depends on its ability to imagine the situation or problem to which it is applied. Further, the assumptions made in relation to the model are determining for the actual outcome. Within the field of clinical biochemistry a lot of models for analytical quality specifications, based on a variety of concepts and ’clinical settings’, have been proposed. A hierarchical structure for application of these approaches and models has been agreed on at several occasions in 1999. In this hierarchy, the highest rank is given to evaluation of analytical quality specifications based on ’clinical settings’/’clinical outcome’ models, followed by specifications based on biological variation and on ’clinicians opinions’. This contribution, deals with the problems of combining random and systematic errors and the implications of application of different models to a variety of clinical settings. Two methods, e.g. initial rate method and thermokinetic reduced extent method were presented for studies on non-competitive inhibition. Arginase-catalyzed the hydrolysis of L-arginine toL-ornithine and urea and the inhibition of this reaction by sodium fluoride were studied in the absence and presence of exogenous of Mn2+at 37°C in 40 mM sodium barbiturate-hydrochloric acid buffer solution (pH 7.4). Both methods were successively used to determine the values of K1. The advances and disadvantages of each method were compared in this paper. Exogenous Mn2+ could result in more sensitivity of arginase to F-1. Since the inhibition of arginase by F-1 depends on the pH values of the reaction system and behave as a non-competitive inhibition, it probably due to its small volume and high electronic density allow it access to the activity site of the enzyme and replaces of μ-OH2 (or μ-OH) as the bridge ligand with Mn(II, II) cluster. However, further studies are necessary to determine the modes of interaction of F-1 with bovine liver arginase. The extraction of Zea mays hairs (Z. mays) was carried out by soxhlet and ultrasound techniques and through three solvents. Phytochemical tests and quantitative analysis of total phenols content (TPC) and flavonoids content (FC) for all extracts were also determined. The antioxidant activity, for different fractions, was determined by using three methods; DPPH, FRAP and TAC. All extracts were rich in polyphenols and the analysis of TPC and FC showed that the hydro-ethanolic extract obtained by ultrasound was characterized by a significant amount of TPC and FC. The n-butanolic fraction was rich in FC and also had a very high antioxidant capacity. On the other hand, the inhibiting effect of hydro-ethanolic extract, n-butanolic fraction and standard (flavone) on mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution was investigated by electrochemical measurements. The polarization curves along with EIS diagrams indicated that flavone was the major molecule responsible for inhibition and acted as mixed-type inhibitor with predominant control of cathodic reaction. The antioxidant activity of BF was well correlated to corrosion inhibition efficiency.  相似文献

Liquid phase hydrogenation of styrene oxide using 1% Pd/C and NaOH as a promoter was found to give selectively β-phenethyl alcohol (PEA) under very mild conditions (313–333 K; 0.68–5.5 MPa). The kinetics of this system was investigated by collecting initial rate data in a batch slurry reactor. Rate of hydrogenation was found to decrease beyond a certain concentration of both hydrogen (>3 MPa) and styrene oxide (>0.5 kmol/m3). A Langmuir–Hinshelwood type rate equation has been proposed based on the initial rate data in the kinetic regime. The model predictions agree very well with the experimentally observed concentration–time data indicating the applicability of the proposed rate model.  相似文献

Using statistically designed experiments, 12,500 observations are generated from a 4-pieced Cobb-Douglas function exhibiting increasing and decreasing returns to scale in its different pieces. Performances of DEA and frontier regressions represented by COLS (Corrected Ordinary Least Squares) are compared at sample sizes ofn=50, 100, 150 and 200. Statistical consistency is exhibited, with performances improving as sample sizes increase. Both DEA and COLS generally give good results at all sample sizes. In evaluating efficiency, DEA generally shows superior performance, with BCC models being best (except at corner points), followed by the CCR model and then by COLS, with log-linear regressions performing better than their translog counterparts at almost all sample sizes. Because of the need to consider locally varying behavior, only the CCR and translog models are used for returns to scale, with CCR being the better performer. An additional set of 7,500 observations were generated under conditions that made it possible to compare efficiency evaluations in the presence of collinearity and with model misspecification in the form of added and omitted variables. Results were similar to the larger experiment: the BCC model is the best performer. However, COLS exhibited surprisingly good performances — which suggests that COLS may have previously unidentified robustness properties — while the CCR model is the poorest performer when one of the variables used to generate the observations is omitted.  相似文献

This article employs new data envelopment analysis/assurance region (DEA/AR) methods to evaluate the efficiency of the 35 textile factories of the Nanjing Textiles Corporation (NTC), Nanjing, China. The returns to scale (RTS) of these factories were studied without assuming that the optimal DEA solutions were unique. All DMUs are identified with pointsE (Extreme Efficient),E (Efficient but not an extreme point) andF (Frontier but not efficient). We then further identify the nonfrontier DMUs with pointsNE, NE andNF according to whether they are projected onto a point inE, E, orF en route to evaluating their performances. All of the inefficient factories were in classNF and had unique optimal primal-dual solution pairs. Consequently, the solution pairs satisfy the strong complementary slackness condition (SCSC). Application of cone-ratio (CR) ARs reduced significantly the number of factories in classE, and showed that some AR-efficient factories were more flexible in adopting the mixture of central planning and market economies that China currently is trying to use. Also, linked-cone (LC) ARs were applied to measure maximum and minimum profit ratios. The SCSC multiplier space approach was utilized to analyze the sensitivity of the efficiency results to potential errors in the data with and without ARs. The results in this article suggest that collective units had a better performance than state-owned units in the two consecutive years analyzed.This paper was written while the author was at the School of Economics and Management, Southeast University, Nanjing 210018, P.R. The corrosion of printed circuit boards can be effectively prevented with a polyurethane conformal coating. In this study, the protective performance of PU coating was investigated systematically through electrochemical measurements and simulated exposure/immersion tests. Some fungi tests were also included. All experimental results show that a polyurethane coating effectively inhibits corrosion on printed circuit boards. The optimal thickness of the coating film should be about 60 μm. Long-term exposure tests showed that this coating material could preserve the reliability of the investigated printed circuit boards for more than 400 days in a 90% relative humidity environment at 25°C.  相似文献

Essential oils of Erigeron canadensis L. and Myrtus communis L. were tested in vitro as growth inhibitors against phytopathogenic fungi Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn, Fusarium solani (Mart.) Sacc. and Colletotrichum lindemuthianum (Sacc. & Magn.) Briosi & Cav. Both showed weak fungicidal acitivity, except the essential oil of M. communis that exerted a 60% growth inhibition against R. Solani at a dose of 1600 ppm. Microscopic observation revealed that the essential oil of M. Communis caused morphological alterations of hyphae of all fungi at 1600 ppm, while, at the same dose, only the hyphal morphology of C. Lindemuthianum was affected by the essential oil of Er. A series of high surface area titanium dioxide samples (P-TiO2) with varying phosphate content have been prepared by the sol–gel technique. The structural characterization of the samples included X-ray powder diffraction, diffuse reflectance infrared and UV–vis spectroscopy (DRIFT and UV–vis–DR), and nitrogen adsorption measurements. The structural properties of the P-TiO2 samples significantly changed with the phosphate content and calcination temperature. According to XRD data the presence of phosphate shifts the anatase rutile phase transition to higher temperatures, revealing that phosphate improves the thermal stability of the samples. The specific surface area and the semiconductor band gap energy increase with the phosphate content.

The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 and P-TiO2 was studied by phenol degradation in liquid phase. A small amount of phosphate of the catalysts increases the photocatalytic activity, but further increase of the P/Ti molar ratio (above 0.01), leads to a considerable loss in activity. The optimal calcination temperature of P-TiO2 was 300–500 °C. The phenol conversion rate is highest with catalysts calcined at 700 °C, but phenol does not degrade to carbon dioxide.  相似文献
