Our investigations demonstrated that utilizing copper bromide (CuBr) mixture as a source of Cu atoms in a RF-excited discharge can be a promising alternative to the Cu sputtered system, when the development of Cu ion gas laser is considered. Both spectroscopic and laser investigations showed that the threshold input power for lasing was reduced about 5 times using the CuBr-based system instead of the Cu-sputtered system. Pulsed and CW laser oscillation on Cu+ transitions in the near IR spectral region was obtained in RF-excited He-CuBr discharge operated at 13.56 MHz and 27.12 MHz. At input RF power of 800 W, a laser output power of 10 mW at the 780.8 nm Cu ion laser line was achieved. An increase of laser output power by a factor of two, as well as better Cu vapour axial distribution and better discharge stability, was attained when DC discharge was superimposed on the RF discharge. Laser gain on 11 UV Cu ion lines was observed in RF-excited Ne-CuBr discharge. basing on the obtained results, we consider the CuBr laser system excited by RF discharge capable of generating UV laser radiation at relatively low input power. Two types of particles, A and B with their corresponding antiparticles, are defined in a onedimensional cyclic lattice with an odd number of sites. In each step of time evolution, each particle acts as a source for the polarization field of the other type of particle with nonlocal action but with an effect decreasing with the distance: . The jam phenomenon in traffic flow wastes not only considerable traffic-transportation time but also great amounts of fuel due to many accelerate-decelerate actions. From traffic-economic and traffic-pollution viewpoints, the suppression of traffic jam is an important issue we have to solve. The present paper shows that -norm, which has been used in the field of control theory, can reveal the traffic jam phenomenon in an optimal velocity traffic model under an open boundary condition. Furthermore, we suppress the traffic jam in the model by the decentralized delayed-feedback control method. Some numerical simulations are shown to verify our theoretical results. Oscillatory zoning is a spatial variation in the composition of minerals. It has been observed in many different minerals and a variety of mechanisms have been proposed to explain it. We propose an equilibrium model of oscillatory zoning in which the variations in composition stabilise a ferroelastic phase. This results in a sinusoidal variation in composition. We expect that this mechanism could account for oscillatory zoning found in minerals with oscillatory surface relaxations. Received 9 March 1999  相似文献

For w-legged antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 Heisenberg ladders, a long-range spin pairing order can be identified which enables the separation of the space spanned by finite-range (covalent) valence-bond configurations into w +1 subspaces. Since every subspace has an equivalent counter subspace connected by translational symmetry, twofold degeneracy, breaking translational symmetry is found except for the subspace where the ground state of w = even belongs to. In terms of energy ordering, (non)degeneracy and the discontinuities introduced in the long-range spin pairing order by topological spin defects, the differences between even and odd ladders are explained in a general and systematic way. Due to a lack of at least 2 orders of magnitude in the amount of sample nuclei, single crystal surfaces are out of reach for conventional NMR measurements. Our aim is to prove that highly polarized 129Xe provides a technique to overcome this restriction. Therefore an apparatus for polarizing 129Xe up to 0.7 by spin transfer from optically pumped Rb has been designed as well as an NMR spectrometer in combination with a UHV chamber with sample cleaning, cooling and characterization abilities and a special manifold of glass stopcocks with a liquid nitrogen cooled trap for dosing nitrogen free polarized Xe into the chamber onto the surface. Ferromagnetic spin chains of a hexagonal lattice coupled by a weak antiferromagnetic interaction J1 develop a helix arrangement if the intrachain antiferromagnetic NNN exchange J2 is sufficiently large. We show that the classical minimum energy spin configuration is an umbrella when an external magnetic field is applied. The scenario is dramatically changed by quantum fluctuations. Indeed we find that the zero point motion forces the spins in a plane containing the magnetic field so that classical expectation is deceptive for our model. All the bright optical lattices studied so far have been designed to obtain a circularly polarized light at the bottom of the optical potential wells. This condition minimizes the departure rate of the atoms from the fundamental adiabatic surface and permits an oscillating regime in a large range of parameters. We present here an experimental study of cesium atoms in a three-dimensional optical lattice, where the light is linearly polarized at the bottom of the potential wells. Temperature measurements and pump-probe spectroscopy give similar results for this lattice and for the conventional lin lin lattice (which have circular polarizations at the bottom of the wells) despite the fact that one lattice operates in the jumping regime and the other in the oscillating regime. We study the behaviour of the two types of lattices in a longitudinal magnetic field, with particular emphasis on the zero field and strong field regimes. The strong field situation is very simple because the eigenstates are then almost pure Zeeman substates and the adiabatic and diabatic potential surfaces are identical. The comparison between the zero-field and the high-field situations shows that the diabatic potentials are more appropriate to account for experimental observations in the novel lattice. A general theory of critical sound propagation, including phonon-spin-energy coupling, is studied in anisotropic magnets above their transition temperature. The Kawasaki weak singularity in the ultrasonic attenuation is found as a nonasymptotic effect. A new nonasymptotic regime similar to the one in the binary mixture is also determined.
