Alkane oxygenation with H2O2 catalysed by FeCl3 and 2,2′-bipyridine

The H₂O₂-FeCl₃-bipy system in acetonitrile efficiently oxidises alkanes predominantly to alkyl hydroperoxides. Turnover numbers attain 400 after 1 h at 60 °C. It has been assumed that bipy facilitates proton abstraction from a H₂O₂ molecule coordinated to the iron ion (these reactions are stages in the catalytic cycle generating hydroxyl radicals from the hydrogen peroxide). Hydroxyl radicals then attack alkane molecules finally yielding the alkyl hydroperoxide.     

Spectrochemical Properties of Noncubical Transition Metal Complexes in Solutions. XIV. Angular Overlap Studies of bis(Salicylidene-2-aminothiazole)Copper(II) in Various Solvents

The copper(II) complex [Cu(sat)], where Hsat is salicylidene-2-aminothiazole (bidentate Schiff - base), was studied in variety of solvents. In the solid state, the complex is black. It has been characterized by elemental analysis, solubility in common solvents, molar conductivity, and ultraviolet (UV) and visible (Vis) spectroscopy. The complex is easily soluble in common solvents such as chloroform, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, and 1,4-dioxane. The known crystal structure of similar compounds shows planar coordination geometry for the copper center. Combined multitechnique experiments have been applied to confirm the structure of the complex in solutions. The molar conductivities indicate their nonelectrolyte properties in all these solvents. The spectroscopic measurements were used to study the coordination properties of donoratoms and their bonding abilities.

含氮宾的两个三核羰基铁簇合物是由[Et_3NH][HFe_3(CO)_(11)]与C_6H_5NCO在苯中反应获得。应用四园衍射仪测定了H_2Fe_3(N-C_6H_5)(CO)_9(Ⅰ)和Fe_3(N-C_6H_5)(μ_3-CO)(CO)_9(Ⅱ)的晶体结构。晶体数据为:C_(15)H_7NO_9Fe_3(Ⅰ),空间群P2_1/a,a=18.343(2),b=9.072(1),c=11.451(1)(?),β=102.03(1)°,V=1863.7(?)~3,Z=4,D_c=2.143g/cm~3;C_(16)H_5NO_(10)Fe_3(Ⅱ),空间群P2_1/c,a=8.634(1),b=13.026(1),c=17.642(2)(?),β=97.68(1)°,V=1966.3(?)~3,Z=4,D_c=1.820g/cm结构系用直接法解出,最后R_(Ⅰ)因子为0.033,R_(Ⅱ)因子为0.027。测定结果表明,(Ⅰ)和(Ⅱ)分子均具有C_s对称性,且三个Fe原子共面,呈近似等边三角形结构。(Ⅰ)中面桥N原子以不对称方式与三个Fe原子成键;(Ⅱ)中面桥羰基以不对称方式与三个Fe原子键连。Fe-N和Fe-C键长分别在1.896-1.938(?)和2.006-2.110(?)之间。     

Chiral Recognition in π Complexes of Alkenes,Aldehydes, and Ketones with Transition Metal Lewis Acids; Development of a General Model for Enantioface Binding Selectivities

Prochiral alkenes, aldehydes, and ketones constitute the most frequently used starting materials for enantioselective organic syntheses. Protocols often involve chiral binding agents or Lewis acids that can give two diastereomeric adducts, the ratios of which are measures of chiral recognition. With π adducts, the diastereomers differ in the enantioface of the C?C or O?C group bound to the Lewis acid. This review provides the first comprehensive analysis of such equilibria and related binding phenomena with chiral transition metal Lewis acids. An extensive body of data from the authors' laboratory for complexes of the pyramidal rhenium fragment [(η⁵?C₅H₅)Re(No)(PPh₃)]⁺ ( I ) affords particular insight. Literature data for other complexes are also summarized. A general model for chiral recognition based upon the relative steric properties of four quadrants is presented. This enables binding selectivities to be individually and rationally optimized for different classes of ligands. Electronic effects are also identified and correlated with specific structural properties. Relationships between binding equilibria, reactivity, and product configurations are discussed.     

工业用水中总铁含量的快速测定

介绍了以菲咯嗪－醋酸钠－醋酸缓冲溶液为显色体系、用自制的铁含量比色测定仪快速测定工业用水中总铁含量的方法。总铁含量≤０５ｍｇ／Ｌ时，标准偏差≤００３ｍｇ／Ｌ；总铁含量＞０５ｍｇ／Ｌ时，相对标准偏差≤５％。单次测定时间（包括样品处理）为１０～１５ｍｉｎ。采用单色光源及微型流动比色池，由蠕动泵和电子线路实现自动进样，直接显示测定结果。     

Synthesis and photoluminescence properties of 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives and their metallic complexes

Three new 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives, i.e. 5-[(4-styryl-benzylidene)-amino]-quinolin-8-ol (1), 5-[(4-bromo-2-fluoro-benzylidene)-amino]-quinoline-8-ol (2) and 2-[2-(9-ethyl-9H-carbazol-2yl)-vinyl]-quinolin-8-ol (3), and their metallic complexes were synthesized and identified by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), ¹H nuclear magnetic resonance (¹H NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), mass spectrometry (MS) spectra and elemental analyses. Their fluorescence properties were studied by photoluminescence, which indicated that the luminescence wavelength of 5-and 2-substitued-8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives shifted to red in comparison with that of 8-hydroxyquinoline. Meanwhile, the fluorescence lifetime of 2-[2-(9-ethyl-9H-carbazol-2yl)-vinyl]-quinolin-8-ol and its zinc complex showed long lifetime in benzene solution. __________ Translated from Chinese Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2007, 27(3): 402–408 [译自: 有机化学]     

Kinetics of formation of a linear polymer-polymer network system in the presence of 3d metal chelates

For semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPNs) based on an incompatible polyurethane network/linear polymethylmethacrylate pair formed in situ in the presence of 3d metal chelates, we have studied the effect of the system composition on the kinetics of formation of the components and the nature of complex formation between the metal compound and the polymer matrix. The ratio of the system components has been shown to have an effect on the selection of the macroligand in formation of complexes of the metal chelate with the polar groups of the semi-IPN, where the general character of the kinetic behavior for the formation of the network and the linear polymer is preserved. __________ Translated from Teoreticheskaya i éksperimental’naya Khimiya, Vol. 42, No. 6, pp. 351–356, November–December, 2006.     

Ungewöhnliche Bildung und Struktur eines O‐Sulfinato‐Zinkkomplexes

Unusual Formation and Structure of a O‐Sulfinato Zinc Complex Whereas the reaction between hydrotris[(N‐xylyl)‐thioimidazolyl]borato‐zinc perchlorate ([ L· Zn‐OClO₃]) and ethanethiolate under an inert atmosphere leads to the thiolate complex [ L· Zn‐SC₂H₅], the same reaction in air produces the sulfinato complex [ L· Zn‐O‐S(O)‐C₂H₅] ( 1 ). 1 is the first fully characterized sulfinato‐zinc complex. Its structure determination has confirmed the unusual coordination of the sulfinato ligand via one of its oxygen atoms.     

Boron chelates with 5,5,5-trifluoro- and 5,5,5-trichloro-4-aminopent-3-en-2-ones

Boron chelates were obtained by the reaction of butoxy(butylthio)diphenylborane with 5,5,5-trifluoro(trichloro)-4-aminopent-3-en-2-one, and their reactions with primary amines were investigated. -Diiminate complexes of boron with trifluoro- and trichloromethyl groups were synthesized.N.
