Near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy has been applied to reveal the molecular arrangement of ultrathin oligophenyl films [p-quaterphenyl (4P) and p-hexaphenyl (6P)] on Au(111). In the half-monolayer films the molecules lie flat on the surface but still have a considerable inter-ring twist of 30 degrees -40 degrees , similar to the gas-phase conformation. In the saturated monolayer film the second half of the molecules is side-tilted by an angle of less than 66 degrees with respect to the surface. This arrangement is already similar to that in bulk net planes of thicker films parallel to the surface, that is, the 4P(211) and 6P(21-3) planes, respectively. 相似文献

The adsorption heat of the stoichiometric displacement process for the adsorption of a solute in a liquid-solid system was
investigated. On the basis of the SDM-A and the rule of the additivity of energy, an expression which describes the dependence
of the adsorption enthalpy on the nature and concentration of the solute, and on the solvent and adsorbent, was derived. The
adsorption heat determined for the solute with the traditional method can be divided into two independent fractions, relating
to the adsorption of the solute and to the desorption of the solvent. Experimental data on both isotherms from the literatures
and precise calorimetry were used to test the adsorption heat and its fractions computed quantitatively via the equations
presented in this study, and a satisfactory degree of conformity between them was obtained.

Understanding the behaviour of short-chain hydrocarbons confined to porous solids informs the targeted extraction of natural resources from geological features, and underpins rational developments in separation, storage and catalytic conversion processes. Herein, we report the application of low-field (12.7 MHz) 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxation measurements to characterise ethane dynamics within mesoporous silica materials exhibiting mean pore diameters between 6 and 50 nm. Our measurements provide NMR-based adsorption isotherms within the range 25–50 bar and at ambient temperature, incorporating the ethane condensation point (40.7 bar at our experimental temperature of 23.6 °C). The quantitative nature of the acquired data is validated via a direct comparison of NMR-derived excess adsorption capacities with ex situ gravimetric ethane adsorption measurements, which are demonstrated to agree to within 0.2 mmol g−1 of the observed ethane capacity. NMR relaxation time distributions are further demonstrated as a means to decouple interparticle and mesopore dominated adsorption phenomena, with unexpectedly rapid relaxation rates associated with interparticle ethane gas confirmed via a direct comparison with NMR self-diffusion analysis. 相似文献

A novel rapid pressure swing adsorption (RPSA) process is described for production of 25–50% oxygen enriched air. The embodiment consists of one or more pairs of adsorbent layers contained in a single adsorption vessel. The layers undergo simultaneous pressurization-adsorption and simultaneous depressurization-purge steps. A total cycle time of 6–20 seconds is used. The process yields a very large specific oxygen production rate and a reasonable oxygen recovery for production of 20–50 mole% oxygen enriched gas.It is demonstrated by a simple mathematical model of isothermal single adsorbate pressure swing ad(de)sorption concept on a single adsorbent particle that the specific production rate of a PSA process cannot be indefinitely increased by reducing the cycle time of operation when adsorbate mass transfer resistances are finite. 相似文献

We have studied the adsorption of a copolymer of acrylonitrile and methacrylate of nonaethyleneglycol on a kidney dialysis membrane, which contains mostly nitrile groups. The kinetics study reveals at first a rapid increase of the adsorbance, followed by slow variations suggesting rearrangements at the interface. The isotherms do not present a true plateau at high concentration. The high adsorbance observed at low pH or high salt concentration could be related to the ability of polyethyleneoxide to form a complex with cations. 相似文献

The purpose of this research was to select an activated carbon and alkaline solution blend that generated the best H2S adsorption on alkaline-activated carbon. RB2 (activated carbon) impregnated with NaOH solution was shown to have the optimum H2S removal efficiency. The optimum NaOH concentration was 50 mg per gram of carbon. H2S adsorption via RB2-NaOH50 was five times that of a corresponding fresh-activated carbon. The adsorption equivalent of H2S is nearly 1 (mol-H2S/mol-AOH), therefore, H2S + AOH AHS + H2O was the major reaction. The H2S adsorption isotherm corresponded to the Freundlich isotherm. 相似文献

Electronic structure calculations have been performed for flat graphite sheets and periodically distorted sheets with different values of deformation angle and hydrogen adsorption. These characteristics do not all behave monotonically with increasing deformation angle. At small deformation angles, the electrons pass from the atoms of terraces to those of edges, while at larger angles the reverse pattern is observed. The position of the Fermi level also varies nonmonotonically. The binding energy of hydrogen depends significantly on the adsorption site, and the difference can be doubled. Based on the ata obtained, it was concluded that a priori statements derived from the “general concepts” on the difference in the physicochemical properties of, for example, terrace and edge atoms on high-index facets are unreliable. 相似文献

Adsorption
of erythrosin-B (EB) and fast green (FG) to a non-charged organosmectite based
on crystal violet adsorbed up to 100% of the cation exchange capacity (CEC)
was tested. Adsorption isotherms of EB and FG were prepared at 3, 24 and 50°C.
All isotherms are of H-type reaching loads of approximately up to 20% of the
original CEC of the crude montmorillonite (up to 0.15 and 0.10 mol dye kg–1
clay for EB and FG, respectively). Adsorption decreases with temperature,
indicating an exothermic process. Enthalpy was evaluated using van’t
Hoff equation, yielding approximately –20 kJ mol–1
