One‐Pot,Four‐Component Reaction of Aryl Aldehydes,Aryl Ketones,Phosphorus Trichloride,and Acetonitrile Catalyzed by Acetyl Chloride: Synthesis of β‐Acetamido Ketones

The one‐pot, four‐component reaction of aryl aldehydes, aryl ketones, phosphorus trichloride, and acetonitrile, catalyzed by acetyl chloride, affords β‐acetamido ketones in good to excellent yields. Silicaphosphine (silphos), [P(Cl)_3‐n(SiO₂)_n], can also be used effectively as a solid‐supported reagent instead of phosphorus trichloride.     

A Rapid and Efficient Cleavage of Organic Disulfides to Mercaptans Using ZrCl4/NaBH4

A practical & cheaper reagent system ZrCl₄/NaBH₄ is used for the reductive cleavage of organic disulfides to mercaptans under mild conditions, in excellent yields.     

Novel Diastereoselective Synthesis of trans-Fused Pyrrolo[3,4-b]quinolines Through Intramolecular Imino Diels–Alder Reaction

Synthesis of a series of 1aR,2S,4aS-hexahydropyrrolo[3,4-b]quinolines has been achieved by the intramolecular cyclization reaction of aldimines derived from aromatic amines and (S)-2-(N-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-N-tosyamino)-3-methylpropanal/(S)-2-(N-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-N-tosyamino)-3-phenylpropanal in acetonitrile with InCl₃ as a catalyst, in excellent yields and in short duration of time, under mild conditions.     

Bismuth(III) Chloride–Catalyzed Three‐Component Coupling: Synthesis of α‐Amino Phosphonates

A simple and efficient method has been developed for the one‐pot synthesis of α‐amino phosphonates from the reaction of a carbonyl compound, amine, and dialkyl phosphite. The highly catalytic nature of bismuth(III) chloride and the fact that it is relatively nontoxic, low cost, easy to handle, and insensitive to small amounts of air and moisture make this method especially attractive for large‐scale synthesis.     

Synthesis of Novel bis-Phosphonate Derivatives by Pudovik Reaction

Synthesis of novel bis-(3-methyl-5-nitro-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-2λ ⁵benzo[1,3,2]oxazaphosphol-2yl)substituted aryl methanes was accomplished by Pudovik reaction. Addition of equimolar quantities of 2-methylamino-4-nitro phenol (1) and ethanol to PCl₃ afforded cyclic condensation product. On reaction with respective aldehydes followed by treatment with phosphorus(III) monochloride of 1, and on subsequent reaction at reflux temperature, this rearranged from P(III) to P(V) state. Their structures were determined by IR, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, ³¹P NMR, and mass spectral data.     

Efficient and convenient preparation of N-tosylimines catalyzed by indium trichloride

A new method for preparation of N-tosylimines by InCl₃-mediated condensation of aldehydes with p-toluenesulfonamide in refluxing benzene is reported.The procedure is lauded by its simplicity,mild reaction conditions,excellent yields and adaptability to electron deficient and electron rich aromatic,andα,β-unsaturated aldehydes.
