Optimal Operations Management and Network Planning of a District Heating System with a Combined Heat and Power Plant

District heating plants are becoming more common in European cities. These systems make it possible to furnish users with warm water while locating the production plants in the outskirts having the double benefit of lowering the impact of pollution on the center of the city and achieving better conversion performances. In order to amortize the costs throughout the year, the system often includes a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, to exploit the energy during the summer as well, when the demand for warm water decreases. A linear programming model for the optimal resource management of such a plant is presented and some results for a real case are reported. A distribution network design problem is also addressed and solved by means of mixed integer linear programming.

On expansions of functions of two variables in mixed Fourier-Jacobi series and their application for estimation of errors of cubature formulas

Some problems of expansion of functions of two variables in mixed Fourier-Jacobi series are discussed. In particular, estimates of the convergence rate of these series on classes of functions of two variables characterized by generalized moduli of continuity are given. Applications of these results and estimation of residues of some Chebyshev-type mixed cubature formulas are discussed.     

Lp-dual Quermassintegral sums

In this paper,we first introduce a concept of L_p-dual Quermassintegral sum function of convex bodies and establish the polar projection Minkowski inequality and the polar projection Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality for L_p-dual Quermassintegral sums.Moreover,by using Lutwak's width-integral of index i,we establish the L_p-Brunn-Minkowski inequality for the polar mixed projec- tion bodies.As applications,we prove some interrelated results.

将二茂铁甲酰丙酮与异菸肼缩合，生成金属有机多齿新配体，该配体（ＦＣＲ）与闭式－十二氢十二硼酸稀土化合物反应，得到分子式为［Ｌｎ（ＦｃＲ）２］２（Ｂ１２Ｈ１２）３·ＸＨ２Ｏ（Ｌｎ＝Ｌａ，Ｎｄ，Ｅｕ，Ｇｄ，Ｄｙ，Ｈｏ，Ｅｒ，ＴｍａｎｄＬｕ）的９个配位化合物，经元素分析、红外光谱、紫外光谱对其组成、结构进行了表征，通过ＴＧ－ＤＴＡ研究了它们的热行为．     

Filtrations, mixed complexes, and cyclic homology in mixed characteristic

We describe an approach to computing cyclic homology suited to ground rings of characteristicp or mixed characteristic. We illustrate the method by computing HC for coordinate rings of affine plane curves and for maximal orders of semisimple algebras.Partially supported by NSF Grant No. DMS-8807203 and NSA Grant No. MDA 904-92-H-3026.     

Porous structure of mixed silica samples by thermogravimetric method

Thermogravimetric analysis was applied to the characterization of the porosity of silica gels. Results from thermogravimetric method are compared with those obtained from the nitrogen method. The consistency of the parameters characterizing the porous structure of silica gels derived from the data of various methods is satisfactory.     

A Hybrid Approach for the Computation of Guided Modes in Integrated Optics

In this work, we are interested in the numerical approximation of an eigenvalue problem arising from the computation of guided modes in integrated optics waveguides which are particular cases of open waveguides.
